I have a question on rain and the zed?

So I'm just not sure I want to get the zed wet. I've seen pics and watched others detect in the rain. Is it OK?  

I really need to get out but not sure I want to chance it. Just don't want to loose a great detector. I have however wrapped trash bags around a 3000 and did fine. 

Just really like the zed don't want it gone!  

Looks like a great topic. Although there are those who will read it and go out and do these things anyway.

I love pet peeves. My biggest one is when someone tries to tell you where you can't go on public land like forest service or BLM.

 My second  is when someone wants to stay so close you hear their machine. It's like crowding but they won't just leave you alone. I'll move and then they fallow never hunting the spot they crowded you from.   

 Dig holes. You dug it you plug it. That's my moto. Others just don't. 

Leaving trash? Really people? It's all scrap and it adds up (some slower than others) I'll recycle everything. If it's to heavy to pack all day I'll go back on my way out and gather. 

The last on that I have isn't a true peeve. I love when a land owner says,"yeah right you won't find anything there!" How do they know? Especially if they don't detect? I do get the last laugh in most cases.  

I would love to hear other people's opinions on this topic. Let 'em rip.

Looks like the type of detecting I do. Cold wet a nice piece and freeze some more and go home. Then repeat! Can't wait for spring.

So sorry to here that horrific news. I really hope they come back. I couldn't know how I would feel without my #7. It's like a child to me. 

Yes I may be a little excessive. Still it's very sad. 

Being through this before in my area nothing ever happened for me. I had a trommel stolen with my pump. Nothing ever became. (due partly to lazy sheriff's in my area) cool thing is I got angry and built a bigger one.

Oh my! I think I need a crash course in geology again. I'm not at all confused just more intrigued every day. Thanks to all of you for bringing this up and explaining. It's been a while and I've lost many many books on this over the years. Thanks again guys.

How is the high yield with difficult? I haven't had much luck jumping over to the general in normal. Nor have I had luck in high yield in difficult. Now high yield normal is so damn hot. I've found 95% of my gold there. With the sensetivity at 14. B and Z at three and a half. And using killer bee headphones.

This sounds so familiar. Oh wait I have seen about 100 of these in my NORTHERN CALIFORNIA area. Oops. I think the two guys here that do this are simply bad people. I've met both on numerous occasions and I got nothing for ether of them. I really don't like it when going to a claim with friends and they've had it for decades and there's a location notice. I noticed that these people never looked up the claim and they don't have the right area of where they claim to have claimed. It's horrible just horrible. These painted red little posts and a pile of rocks or some in concrete just got waisted. Time and money that could have been spent legally and legitimately to reach their goal. I'm just sick!

I guess it would depend on the area. Where I am I look for digger pine, western holy, poison oak,and some what I call buck brush or coyote brush. I have never lost out on these with the right types of rock and soil color.

So true, what ever works for you.  I have tried Steve's and JP's and others I know that swing 7s but I have yet to find what I like. Seems all the soil and rocks and add water (lately more than not) and wind on wet grass and a helicopter flying over all changes. I've also found bits and really big chunks all over the board at all different depths. 

I don't have an answer, but I know the best thing to do. Turn it on and swing it. That always get me something. 

That's all the dead fish,I'm sure of it. That's because all the miners and prospectors..... Oh wait dredging in flood water that's got an 80 mph rate of speed. Hmm, well?  I think we're all smarter than that.

 I really hope the next wave hits early. I do not want to go to work this week. Or next week ether. 

After prospecting with many different people I've come to one saying and I personally love it. 

 "Shut up and dig!".

Always been the type to keep quiet about the few areas I work. That are claimable and do produce well. I have been going for almost ten years to three great spots and never a problem. It's only a miles and a half hike in. I guess that keeps the "others" out.  

 I do think folks should beware and do the homework. I know some that were screwed this way. Thank you both for posting. I'll be sure to share.

This is a super rich creek I visit and do some picker picking. After this water drops back down five feet and isn't so dirty it's a spot to literally pick them up by the hand fulls. It got the perfect look for that. The other two I couldn't get to due to trees down with power lines. Wasn't going to chance those ones.

Going to venture out today to check a few hot spots I like. Going to take a few pics and post this afternoon. 

I don't miss shovel logging out of creeks to open the water ways. I'll stick to a nice warm landing in my processormaking logs

Well I would have to say "oh wow!" They never cease to amaze.

I would love to try one. The other problem I have tough is that I am built a booth lower to the ground. All the metal I carry has to be behind me like in a pack in back pockets and such. Even my pick with the angled pick holder has to be behind me with the 14. I can only imagine what it's going to be like with the 19". I will find out next week I hope.

wow nice find after it was planted!!!  I love the look of it after its melted. after some time spent smelting and messing it up to look like a nugget I can make one of those on purpose now. Don't worry I like it ether way. its a nice chunk.

Ok I just got told that no 19" coil till after the end of November in the US. I'm not that happy about that at all!!! I do think that minelab wants to sell me one and I don't think that $1500 is a bad price for what it does. I don't want to lose interest in the 19 but starting to think that  ripping apart the 14 and making an other isn't a bad idea. I really don't mind if I learn something in the process. 

HUMMMMM! speaking of wireless and batteries and headsets....!

 I'm going to charge my... Oh wait! where the heck did I? uh oh, ho no.
