Thank you for your reply :-) I've done the above process 3 times with no luck in them pairing. Contacted the distributor and they told me to contact the manufacturer.....

Anyone else have trouble pairing the wireless headphones? Did I maybe get a defective pair?

Ahhhh, California dreamin

Why does California have so much gold that is seemingly just laying not far below the surface of the topsoil?

You are on your way now!!!!
Did you notice how solid the coins sound when it hits on them...?
It is like a birddog.... It just locks up in a beautiful point..lol
Yes it sure did! Now if I can find out what it sounds like on a nice little gold picker :-)

Well, it is back to a question of the nature of the gold nuggets you are chasing. If the gold is small an AT Gold will have an even harder time finding it. It might be an easier machine to master but not as hot on small gold.
You have a good detector now you just need to learn it. If finding gold was easy everyone would have a bucket full.
Took her out to a local freshwater beach today to learn the ropes a bit. Came home 52 cents closer to paying for the detector :-) I think I'll keep it, would like to make it out west one day to hunt some real gold.

Thank you Steve! Perhaps the AT Gold woild have been a better choice for me?

Maybe you should highlight and jot down some of the things you don't quite understand and ask some of the folks here for help? Just post a question or two, or maybe send some of us an e-mail.

Greg,
It just takes a little time to get to know the GR. Search this forum for the best available information anywhere, and do not hesitate to write to the authors of posts that resonate with you. Spend some time playing with it, read some more, then use what you learn. Rinse and repeat. The GR is actually quite easy to use once you get the hang of it, and is about the best available gold vlf in my view. It will be a little more challenging to learn if it is your first detector, but practice will get it done.
All metal will always be noisier than discrimination, but that noise carries information that is useful.
Thanks for the encouragement!

Ok...now you got Steve on it....
Listen to him and you will love using your MGR..... I can tell you when I get a good target and what it is 80% of the time..when I'm coin hunting. I love it for that..
I gotta get it over some gold tho... Although rings with diamonds on them would work too
And yes I've been reading Steve's posts for a few weeks now trying to learn.

Welcome to the forum!
I have a long response to this but am busy at the moment. Give me a couple hours. In addition to answering Pauls settings question, what number or numbers are you predominately seeing?
Thanks for the welcome. I've have the sensitivity set anywhere between 70-90 trying different things out. Threshold between 20-30. Other than that ive not messes with much else besides switching to discriminate mode to test out. Numbers I'm seeing are all over the board. Bounces all around on a "possible target". I'm thinking this might be mineralization but not confident in that statement.

Hi Usaflaginmaine,
When I first started out detecting, I read the manual many times and watched lots of you tube videos demonstrating the use of my detector, and then fine tuned my skills in the field. If the target repeats, I dig it, period!
Brian.
Good call on the YouTube videos. I've read the manual s few times but being a new detectorist i don't totally understand some of what my machine does. I'll definitely be watching some videos. Thanks for the suggestion.

Probably should have started with a less complicated detector but I'm all in now.

Have you ground balanced?
Turn sensitivity down a little..
There's more..... see if that works and calms it down
I've pushes the trigger forward and pumped to try ground like the manual says. It beeps as per the manual as well.

Hi friends. Greg here in Maine. So I've been gold panning and dredging here in maine for a few years now and decided to get a detector for use and fun when I'm not in the mountains and to use up there as well. Ended up buying a Makro gold racer as most of the gold here in maine is small and supposed the GR can hint other stuff as well. In all metal mode the IVD numbers seem to bounce around a lot. Is this normal? I'm having a hard time telling if there is a target or if it's mineralization.....

Thanks guys. Been using it for coin shooting to help me learn the ropes. Will hit some bedrock on Thursday in a known good bearing stream and see if she can help me find some yellow.
