  1. I'm one of the old farts that was using one of strick's  SDC2300's a few days ago  I did find some gold with it but after so many years of GPX use that threshold drove me nuts and was pretty tiring on the old brain cells and the ergonomics leave much to be desired.  Jonathan, I do understand what you are saying but it's just not for me. Prior to using it, I was genuinely thinking about getting one.  I'm glad I got to try before I bought one.

  2. Todd's Valley was also the sight of one of the most if not the most brutal gunfights in the American West.  Not to many folks have heard about it, but a lone man, a Mexican War Vet ended up killing 14 desparadoes within 2 minutes using his two guns and his knife.  The story became widespread at the time but sort of lost steam fast. I have tried to research the spot it happened so I could possibly beep a bullet or two from the fight, would be cool to go in our local Museum....

  3. Yup, I must agree on the Salt and vinegar for cleaning placer gold. It's fast, easy snd cheap. I have been cleaning my gold this way for a couple of decades and shared this method with many a prospector.

If you need to remove Caliche, CLR works great, followed by the salt and vinegar for a final cleaning.
