I agree Dew. I am notorious at over thinking and cannot wait to get my Equinox in my hands and hit the beaches as soon as possible. 

Correct me if I am wrong but those pins are also a data port if so then they cannot be one way as data has to go both ways as to be read by a computer for updating Etc. I just want to do anything possible to prevent any problems that may show up after lots of saltwater hunts.

Definitely would be leashed as to not lose it.

I am considering modding a magnetic charging head to use as a terminal protector sealed with  dielectric grease to keep them protected from the saltwater and to prevent voltage bleed which may be possible but wont know for sure till I test with multimeter in the water.

what is the output voltage of the excal battery pod and the input voltage of the EQ are they the same?

I detect with A CTX and have dug a few items on the beach that were iffy bottle cap signals that ended up being keys or a junk watch. Anyone else have a similar target if so what did it end up being. 

If I understood the warranty information that has been released the warranty is only for the control head and coil not the shaft or its components but I may be mistaken.

Thank you very much Steve for the technical information on the Equinox. I only have one more question and that is the outside diameter of the locating pin and are there 1 locating pin on the handle and 1 on the bottom mount or just on the bottom mount. I have an old carbon fiber shaft for another detector and am going to retrofit it for the Equinox,. The lighter the better for all types of detecting and I can post some pics of the modded shaft after I get my Equinox if you or others would like to see how it comes out.

What is the diameter and material of the upper rod. It looks plastic?
