Unfortunately, that case seems to be discontinued.

I found this on Amazon (Canada) though: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00E221A88/?coliid=I16KA5F4FTE40C&colid=16IESR6AFFMX6&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I'm pretty sure it's too long to be considered a carry-on though...and I'm not sure I want to trust baggage handlers enough to check it. (getting the case crushed under a ton of other luggage).

Be great for the back of a vehicle though.

I wonder if that is why Scheels sporting goods had a good price on them? I would not be afraid to stand on it and it is small enough for a carry on I believe. I see the link I posted is no longer available.  I looked on a few sites and they say currently unavilable.  That is too bad.  They are a solid waterproof case perfectfor the Equinox.

  2. I bought a Gardforce by Vanguard hard case. Outback series 52C.  The size is 31-1/2 X 13-1/4 X 5-3/8.  The weight is 7.05 lbs/3.20kg. The foam padding does not have to be cut. It is soft enough to compress around what is laid in the case keeping it protected and the detector or other items do not shift when closed. I like it because it is small and would be easy to carry on a plane or it would not take up a lot of room in a vehicle. It has it own lock and also locks can be added to the hasps. The detector has to be broke down a little more but it can be assembled back together in about two minutes with a little practice.  I am not in a race to the field so I don't mind trading a smaller case and security for a couple of minutes of reassembly. The head phones along with the case fits as well. Picture that I took is attached.

  3. After 2 weeks shy of 7 MONTHS I finally have a tracking #.  If you are  upset about a long wait , try my wait for the 800.  Coming  UPS tomorrow from Wisconsin. It was dropped shipped.  My dealer had to call and raise some caine with Minelab about the allocations to small dealers like his. He was not recieving any 800's and only 600'.  They finnaly listened and drop shipped some of his orders.
The looooong wait kind of took the interest out of it a bit. I am not as excited about it.

  4. Ordered from Kellyco Dec 6th. I decided to get a refund and went elsewhere about 5 weeks ago. They just were not letting me know where I stand and they were getting small shipments and I knew they had a huge preorder list. I am now #1 on a new list from a smaller dealer and have been for a month now. I may never get to use one. I just was diagnosed with cancer. I am hoping that they can kill it. It has not spread which is good.  I may be in radiation treatment for 5 weeks in the Minneapolis VA. I'll take my Safari with. I know some good places in St.Paul that I have hunted before when I lived there years ago. I can maybe detect in between treatment each day.

Anyone from the Minneapolis / St.Paul area that has free time to go hunting?

  5. I am sure all these things will be fixed in updates later. The Equinox allows for updates and fixes online from what I have read. Like any new electronics, bugs will have to be worked out. Cell phones are always getting bugs and fixes in updates.

Still haven't got mine....Paid for thru paypal  nov. 29, 17 at KELLYCO.

I was Dec 6th with Kco and I flew the coop and went somewhere else.  I found a place where I am now first  the next shippment. I think I would have been waiting all Summer at the rate they were getting them and the massive pre-order list they have. Find a smaller dealer. It may take a lot of calling but it will pay off. No hassel with getting my money back from them. It took just a couple of days and it was refunded to my CC.

  7. I had erratic numbers all over the place with a Whites a few years back. It ended up being a loose ground wire for the coil I was told. It was fixed by an authorized dealer and worked fine after.
My Safari goes crazy in my back yard under the powerlines and near the transformer pole. I was trying to find a property marker. I tried turning the sencitivity down but it still acted up. I ended up having to use the Pioneer with the small coil. emi can cause some interference.

Sounds like KellyCo is overwhelmed by the Nox situation. Does anyone know if, when it sends out Equinox shipments, Minelab ships pro rata to the dealers in proportion to their pre-orders? or does it just dole out the same number of units to each dealer?  If the latter, the big dealers like KellyCo, that had piled up a lot of preorders, got shafted along with their customers.

It is becoming more evident that the second scenario is the case. Hundreds of pre orders and less than 20 have been shipped to Kellyco since shipments started. I am beginning to think Minelab is trying to run them out of business.

Then Keith and company at Fort Bedford (PA) Metal Detectors. may be your ticket as they also run the ML North American repair center, are honoring the 15% ML vet discount, are veteran run, and they don't require prepayment for preorders (as far as I know).  Problem is, all of these great things result in long preorder lines and you will be getting into the back of the line, unfortunately.

This kind of blows away your primary reason for leaving KCO I know, but if you want a long term, customer-focused dealer relationship, great outfit with great deals for existing vets and retired/disabled vets (outside of of the ML deal previously mentioned) give them a call.  PM me if you want more info.

Also, look at some of the dealers that have posted in this thread and other folks in this thread who have made dealer reccs, especially those who are here responding to customer needs and concerns first and foremost rather than using this as an opportunity to shamelessly plug their business.  Steve pretty much lays down the law as far as that is concerned and you don't last long around here if you are not here primarily to contribute to the community of forum users.

Key is to shop around for the dealer that suits you.  If prepayment is not your cup of tea, several dealers can be found that don't require it.  If you like a dealer who will give you an edge (i.e., shorter wait line) with a prepayment you can find that too. Veteran run and/or veteran discounts, yup shop around.   I actually have two dealers I have a personal customer relationship with because they have different types of detector product inventories and I have different discount arrangements at each.

As far as getting your prepayment back, it shouldn't be a hassle to ask but expect, based on my direct experience a few years back, that it will take 7 to 10 business days for the charge back to occur.

Disclaimer:  I am not a dealer rep and do not have anything but a customer-based relationship with any dealer I have explicitly recommended.  In other words, I am just a guy with a few detectors trying to live up to my forum handle.

Best of luck however you choose to go and thank you for your service and sacrifices.

I have numbers now for three more dealers and I will call Monday. I will keep the order from Kellyco active but will go elseware and just order a second 800.  If I end up with two of them I am sure I can sell the second one easy. There is no way Kellyco is going to fill my order by the end of March or even April or May at the rate they are getting shipments. I ordered the 6th of December. Thanks for the tip Chase and Blue Dog.

Minelab is catching up on old backorders but new ones are piling up just as fast so people placing orders now could end up waiting past the end of March. It’s not like dealer shelves will be stacked high with unsold Equinox by the end of March.

Even those that ordered last year? How can a dealer fill their order when they recieve 10 at the most in a single shippment and have 100's of pre-orders from last year alone? If I want one I am beginning to think my best bet is to cancil an order and go with someone else. I don't think Minelab is going to ship a few hundred to a single dealer.

Hey Morris, first of all thank you for your service. Seriously. Thank you.

Secondly, I called KellyCo again today for a quick update, I thought the first time I called was a nightmare! I gave them my order number again, they put me on hold AGAIN and finally admitted AGAIN that I did have an 800 on order. I asked the all important question as to “when”, and was immediately interrupted and told “You’ll get it sooner or later”. Ok. I then asked why people who order 24 days after I did had already received theirs and was interrupted AGAIN by the rep and he threatened to hang up on me and “didn’t get paid enough to listen to this”.... I tried again to talk to this guy but he immediately interrupted me for a third time with and an extremely loud “HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY.” over me over and over.

Wtf? I hung up on the jackass.

Good luck Morris! I hope you get yours soon.

I think it is time to call Kco on Monday and ask for my refund of the full amount that I paid for a pre-order.   I will find one elseware.  I wonder what kind of a hastle I will go through trying to get my money back into my account....
I am now shopping for a new established dealer to work with on a regular basis.  I would like to find one that has the ability to do repaires if needed.  I will start Monday.

Yes I offer the 15% VET discount.  I too have units coming int his week and the EQ-600's are not all spoken for.  Contact me direct to get one paid for.  The EQ-800's I have coming in are all spoken for.

I am looking for the 800. Thanks.  Do you have a waiting list on future 800?

  13. Are these dealers giving the Vet discount?
Kellyco is getting another shipment this coming week. Unfortunately Minelab does not give them much info on it as to how many they will receive. They need a much much larger amount than they have been receiving. I believe they have recieved less than 20 so far nd the list is hundreds. I think this is on Minelab's back. Minelab said the end of march pre-orders will be filled.  All I can say is there is something rotten somewhere if Kellyco is not going to start getting much larger shipments. It is not Kellyco's fault. End of March I am going to start looking elsewhere. I am a disabled vet and I do not have a long time left that I am going to be able to detect. Time is at an essence. First I will have to get a refund. I have the total amount with the Vet discount tied up at Kellyco. I think somewhereI will find one sooner.
I am looking for the 800.

Just another note for those who order from Kellyco. Yes they will give you the military discount, but I told them when I ordered it wasn't fair that all their other sales on "in stock" detectors usually include some sort of extras, and here I was paying up front for a detector I won't see for months... so they included a free minelab padded case. Forgot all about it until I received it yesterday and the case was there. Anyway, can't hurt to ask or beg a little if you haven't received it yet or are just now ordering.

I have ordered a few times from KellyCo. I have 3 of their awkward pinpointers. When I order from them now I tell them to not send anything with the detector. I had a Pinpointer loosly placed inside of the box and durring shippment it went through the screen on the detector. Maybe they are a little more careful now adding items to the box the metal detector comes in.
Yes....What date did you order your detector from Kellyco?

Actually Bass Pro and Cabela's are the only two big box sporting goods stores that handle Minelab

Scheels in the midwest is a Minelab dealer according to the Minelab website. All the sheels I went to does not have much for metal detecting. A few cheap detectors and maybe a carry bag and that is about it. I have not seen a Minelab in the ones I was at.

I think MineLab should give a FREE Detector Carry Bag out to all that have waited and prepaid 3 months out or more .......

Kellyco should at least send people a hat. They give out stuff with all their other detectors and they had use of my money enough to pay for the hat.

  17. This is the first direct e-mail from Minelab that I received this morning. I suspect everyone should be getting them if they have a Minelab account.
This may settle some of our anxiety.

    C&P:

EQUINOX detectors are shipping worldwide! Pre-orders to date in all regions are projected to be fulfilled in the end of March time frame.

We at Minelab stand behind both the ingenuity as well as the quality of our products. For clarity, The EQUINOX control box and coils are covered under warranty for a period of 3 years (36 months) from the date of purchase. The Lithium-ion battery contained in the handle is replaceable and is also covered under warranty for a period of 1 year (12 months)from the date of purchase. Minelab recommends using an Authorized Service Centre (ASC) for battery replacement to avoid potentially damaging the waterproof seal during replacement, which could void the 3-year detector warranty.

Our ASCs are fully equipped to cost effectively manage your repair needs with the utmost in professionalism and attention to detail.  You should expect nothing less from the Minelab brand promise.  Remember, PERFORMANCE IS EVERYTHING!  Happy Detecting!!

Last week when Cabelas last went live with the Equinox they were shipped within the advertised 4 - 7 day time frame from a US Minelab distributor.  I have first hand knowledge of this from a friend who ordered and received his unit in 5 working days.  Cabelas goes dark with the Equinox page whenever the distributor does not have enough stock to meet the advertised delivery timeframe.  So yeah they are making your day but they are also getting their Equinoxes.  Do not understand how/why Cabelas is not honoring a Minelab discount that Minelab will cover.  Loyalty to my dealer and short changing veterans  and stabbing dedicated detector dealers in the back does not earn my business.

Making my day comment was sarcasm. Sorry.
Following that comment, I suggested that everyone sticks with their dealer.
I agree with you that Cabela's is shortchanging Veterans and stabbing dealers.
I wonder how many units Cabela was able to ship out directly from Minelab. I am sure they are receiving an allocation just like everyone else. From what I am seeing is they are only selling them and once out the door, you are on your own. They do not even have to mess with the shipping and handling of them.

I see they are not on the Cabela's website now. They must have sold out their shipping quota. Before they still had it up on the website but it said "out of Stock" and could still order I think.

These things are not going unnoticed. Imagine the Equinox is like a new iPhone release. There is a lot of code there, and there may be bugs. The update facility is everyone’s insurance policy against such things. I am noting anything I see and passing it on not just here but on other forums as are others.

My wife's iPhone was showing "no Signal" yesterday. Mine was fine with 3 bars and the wifi running full.  The first thing I said was to reset it.  She got her signal back. Resetting seems to be the first thing to do with any electronics. The Equinox has the ability to download updates like the iPhonesYou said. I have no concern.
