Spent another three hours hunting around some foundation slabs of demolished homes on base this morning. The 600 is really starting to talk to me!
Unbelievable how many dimes I pulled out on both hard and wispy hits today. I also am really beginning to like 50-tones vs 5. The final learning task today was starting to understand the language of target masking. It's becoming real for me, and I was able to dig some coins today in the middle of trash. WOW! Park 1, NC, GB, 25 vol, 50-Tones, 22 sens, all non-ferrous open, speaker today.

Being the conscientious and honest person that I am, I know that GI Joe is probably apoplectic about losing his dog tags, so if anyone knows how to contact him, or his girlfriend Barbie, I'd be happy to send them back to him! 

Today's take: Yet another 30cal cartridge in a housing area!!?? Added three more cars to my growing Matchbox and HotWheels car collection. A cufflink (first), and a Belgian pin of some sort. Participation coin made of some light non-ferrous metal at 13".
13 Dimes, 14 Copper Pennies, 2 wheaties (1944 oldest), 4 quarters.

Your plan for the 600 is EXACTLY what my plan is as well. Just waiting on the 800 to arrive!

Got bored sitting around today. The wife and son just wanted to play electronic games...so I jumped over to a couple more vacant house yards and swung for about 90 minutes, just to get some more familiarity with the EQ.

Today, I started using 50 tones, and I feel I am finally starting to GROK the system. Got tired of zincs, so in Park 1 factory setting and 50 tones, I notched 14 and 21. Kept the rest just to learn the sounds. Started really understanding jumpy numbers and what trash they usually produce. I also now understand that warm, solid tone that some here talk about. 95% coin on those.
Results were better than expected, with 2 clad quarters, 3 clad dimes, 4 nickels (starting to be able to discriminate crap from the nickels with 12-13 TID), 8 Copper pennies, and two wheaties back to 1935. The big surprise was a thrippy sounding, high 20's and bumping to 31 that I dug down to 13", almost quitting, thinking it might just be a pipe, and then saw the BIG Kennedy Half sitting on edge! First one in years, and right in a local yard! Clad, but I don't care!  Also added another find to my growing collection of Matchbox, and HotWheels cars!  

Seriously starting to feel more and more confident with the 600!

I would have done the same, but when I ordered them from AliExpress, they were not available on Amazon.  Not a problem, and cheaper too. Just have to wait. (The Equinox has gotten me used to waiting!! LOL!)

I got an update today from the USPS, stating that the MPOW APTX LL over-ear headphones I ordered from AliExpress have finally arrived in the USA after two weeks from China.

I should have them by Tuesday or Wednesday and will post a review here once I have a chance to test them on my EQ600.  The company's other headphones have received very positive reviews on a number of sites, so I expect that the new phones will also meet the high expectations.  They were about $53.00 Shipped.

So...I"m interested in where these "Facts" are. I have seen nothing that unequivocally proves that S types are more ergonomic. It remains opinionated...at least until an ergonomics testing facility does the proper testing to validate opinion.

Hunted one of the yards of a demolished base house around the corner from our home, yesterday. Mostly training my wife on how to use her new ACE300 and trying to get her to stop swinging it like a baseball bat!  In the end, she got excited to be digging up some pennies, and is starting to understand the controls.

In the meantime, I was swinging the 600 and finding stuff that the Garrett didn't even alert on.

More yards and training today after church...

The kind of cool thing is that in these old housing areas my ratio of zincolns to copper and wheaties is about 1:15!  It's almost a surprise to dig a zinc! Almost certain that when the TID is at 24-25, it's copper. 27-29 are usually dimes.  Nickels are difficult due to pulltabs.

While it may be a pain in the butt, recharging the Lithium-Ion battery every time you hunt will extend the life of the battery. 
Lithium-Ion batteries do not have a "memory" like the old Nickel and Acid batteries. By deeply discharging the battery  before recharging will shorten the life of these batteries. In fact, if possible, you should resist letting the battery discharge below 30% frequently in order to extend their life.

I personally put the Nox on its charger after EVERY hunt, regardless of how long, or how discharged the battery is.

So...started working the second block of demolished housing on base, but the pickings were slim on that block. Too much debris from the homes that were torn down. Worked it for about two hours, and got a severe headache, so I headed home to Ibuprofen, and some rest. Couldn't go back due to my son coming home from school in an hour, so I decided to just hunt a couple of the vacant homes right across the street while I looked out for his bus. 

Surprise! The two front yards yielded their hidden treasures. So many more homes to go and the demolished areas as well!

Changed up a bit today. Went with the factory setting for Park2, and only switched to 5 tones while I still get used to the 600's quirks.

Today's take:

Fishing Lure: Side Winder in great condition
Find of the day: 1957 Silver Quarter....found in the median strip between the sidewalk and street. BIG surprise seeing that silver color in the plug!

Tomorrow it's family hunt day with my wife and son learning their ACE 300's and me swingin' the Nox!

Thursday, I finished off the first block (Red X on the map). About three hours of swinging. Not as productive a count of coins as Wednesday, but the area was different from the lower corner from Wednesday. Nonetheless, some very interesting finds, and while swinging while walking back to the car, and on the very last target singing in my ears (26 bouncing to 27), I dug four inches and was greeted by the color of Silver for the second time today! My first EVER Merc dime!! (I swung a GTI 2500 off and on for ten years, and never saw one). Goes to show that you should keep swinging till its time to unlock the car door!

Actually, most of the coins I pulled out of this patch were no deeper than 5". Some of the non-coins were deeper. The sand is overlaying a rock and dirt layer, so that may be holding the coins up higher.

I'll be posting today's finds later. More Silver including another Rosie, and my first Merc, also a 1938 French 10 centime. All from that first block of demolished houses.

As previously posted, I am currently located on Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and have only one month left here before moving to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. I have been working on finding the oldest demolished family housing areas, as well as checking various older locations on the base to see what they produce. I have narrowed it down to the best Paydirt!  It also helps that when I don't want to get in the car and drive, I can step out my front door in our family housing area, and within a few short paces, I can hunt vacated homes that are scheduled for demolition in the coming months. They don't produce the value of the "good" locations, but plenty of coins and misc in those yards.

Monday, I hunted one yard across the street from our family quarters. Two hours produced:

Interesting Cubscout Button that I determined sells for between $8-15 as a collectable. Also a token and Bahamian Penny in that yard.

Tuesday, I hunted a sparse field where some buildings once stood. Surprised at the number of clad dimes I pulled out of the ground there, and all three wheaties, from different locations in the field were all 1953D's. Wierd.

Well, that was fun, and really helped learn the 600's features and quirks. So then it was on to the suspected real paydirt. The picture below is of a large family housing area that was built from the mid 50's to early 60's.  It was demolished to open fields in 2008. This picture was taken in 2007 and is the last one showing the houses that existed. So, starting yesterday, and continuing until we move, I will hit this area HARD. Coin dates are right for what I'm seeking, and at the end of my hunt, I validated my research by finding my first silver with the 600!  Much more in the grounds I think. The red circle is the area that I hunted for three hours yesterday to produce the results shown. Excited by the potential of this virgin, untouched area!

Hunted in Park2, Auto-GB, Noise Cancelled, 20 sensitivity, 3 recovery, Notched 3-9, 14-17, 19, 5-tone, 0 bias, and hunted on phones due to heavy F-35 Fighter traffic overhead!

Continuing that block today. Results to follow...

When did you order and go on the waiting list?

Ordered March 13th. Still waiting and #4 or less on the waiting list. Paid for...just waiting. A bit slow, as I ordered at #5 on the list, so my dealer is only getting sporadic shipments.

In the meantime, I just bought another Garrett 300...this one as an early Mother's Day gift for my wife. Now we can all go out and hunt, each with their own detector!  Wife and son with their 300's, and me with my 600 until the 800 comes in.  Dedicating my 600 eventually to our Florida home, where it will be my beach machine primarily.  The 800 goes to Oklahoma and beyond with me for everything else.

The key to the Nox is it's ability to separate different targets close together. By dropping your speed to 3 your hampering what the machine does best. In my parks I use park 2 exclusively and I only hunt in 5 tones. If I'm cherry picking looking for old coins I'll disc out up to 10, 14-18, and 37-40 and my recovery speed is always 7.

He has a 600, Recovery 3 is the equivalent of 7 on the 800, so he's already maxed.

LOL!  I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with the ergonomics!  This detector is a PLEASURE after having swung a GTI 2500 for a number of years. Like a feather, and easier to maneuver. 

Some people just can't be pleased....
