Jamaica I know of a person who went there his detector was confiscated at the airport.
He did get it back when he was leaving but it took some time, and stress all week not knowing if he was going to get it back.

I can just make out the O from ONE CENT on the crusty coin; thinking all five are wheatys.
Jim in MA: Congrats on a wonderful excursion! Any interesting coin dates?
I usually check dates during the winter when I cant get out.

Got out while the water is still warm enough in the ocean for a wet suit, out at chest to chin deep was a slight slope/hole which held old targets. all targets were weak signals except for the new clad on top.
Best of it was a 9K signet ring from Chester England. With all the stamps on the inside small portion of the ring there are 2 more on the large portion of the ring witch is solid not hollow. The small dark coin is a Merc. the other ring is Brass.

NICE RING
WOW You set the bar pretty high for the next one.

WTG Buddy! I knew you and Bluetube had to be working those beach's after everyone had went home. I can't wait to see you get your AQ, I'm sure it will be like virgin grounds all over for you on some of your spots.
Thank You Joe
Yes waiting for the AQ, these came from where the added sand thins and I was able to get through it I keep wondering what is under the sand closer to shore in the active zone.
Just have to wait.

Awesome hunt, great finds 🙂 It will be interesting if you can find the chain to go with it.
Thank You
I do not have high hopes of the chain because the locket was very weak signal from the TDI 3 scoops but I was in chin deep water and the scoops were not full scoops . But I will try

Those are some beautiful finds Jim- congrats! Surprised to hear that you were using the BeachHunter in the lake. I would think that trash would be a big issue.
Thank You
This is a small beach that I live 3 minutes from,It was replenished with sand in early 60s I need to get through this sand, For the old stuff. I use a floating sifter and dig every sound. Almost all trash has been removed through the years.
The best part of removing everything is when people ask if I find anything good I show them fish hooks and their attitude changes.

With lifeguards gone Kids gone cooler weather and the lowest water level in years, fresh water
I was out chin deep in what it seems to be undetected area. all targets were very deep and have been there for a long time.
The Irish ring is stamped 375, the locket 585, and the blue ring 14k and I have not cleaned the 14k at all it is tarnished or stained.
All found with TDI BH but I did mark the area that the locket came from to return with my Nox to try and find the chain.

Thank you Tony at least I now know that I can put a mono coil on and know all will be good with it.

I need to have my coil replaced on my TDI BH Whites service center is not sure they have one at the moment.
My Question is what are the pros and cons of putting a 12 inch Aussie Mono coil on. Not for diving just waist deep wading,
also does anyone know if the mono will float like the yellow dual field?
I am not looking to find small bits of gold, mostly coins and ring size targets on the Northeast beaches.
Thanks Jim

Nice chunk of AU Joe
6 scoops is a whole new level as rings like that dont usually detect off to the side, time for the back brace now.

Yes, you can do that to solve this problem but you then generate a sensitivity to external EMI for the whole system.
After cutting the wire I took a static bag and placed the mother board in it warped the wires and taped them. It ran great for me.

I had the same with my Infinium.
There is a wire that is connected the connector to the mother board, Ground ? cut it , problem solved.

I set up an old AT3 for my grandson , he did great as long as he had a beep and dig for coins that I seeded. If he did not have any targets he lost interest, I gave him my Nox 800 with the display and he will last a lot longer detecting watching the numbers and hearing the tones than just listening for the beep.
If you give them a TOY they will play with it give them the real thing they will use it.
Do you think they know that the detector they are using is not as good as the one you are using?
-
Yes that is it.
May I add a little to it, that disturbance in the wild a lot of the time is only in one direction but repeatable.
On this type signal I take 2 scoops and check pile as a small lead sinker will give the same response, if it is still in the hole usually it is a good target.

Jim, you are doing what needs to be done at any high value location. Great job, you are an inspiration! 👍🏼
Beneath The Mask by Tom Dankowski
You said it right Steve, the area has to be a well documented high traffic area to put that much effort in to.
After finding the first of these and many others it makes it very easy to dig the junk.

Jim, Just curious. I usually opt for for a discriminating detector in fresh water because of all the trash. Do you hunt in "all metal" or with the Ground Balance "on" with the TDI BH?
I hunt GB off, as hot as I can make it.Battery mod
I have a lot of time, I dig every disturbance in the threshold, I have cleaned both beaches of all junk. Many times after removing a piece of junk I check the hole and come up with rings or silver coins.

I have 2 small fresh water beaches close to home, They were both replenished in the 60s and through the years they have grown in size. I swam at these beaches before and after the replenishment I know the old section. I have detected these areas first with the Xcal then the Xcal with a 15 inch coil moved on to the Infinium witch produced the most gold and silver.I detected until the area was quiet. Then I got the TDI BH started all over again with good deep targets silver and gold. The TDI BH has the area is quiet again , Now it will be very interesting as to what the AQ will see beneath the reaches of the TDI. Some of the targets with the TDI were getting down to the rocky gravel under the sand so I know there in more there just a little deeper.

Yes it would be very interesting to here from him.
As he has a water proof Pro to compare to.
Could it be he has writers cramp?
We are waiting Clive.
Pinpointing Hairpins / Nails
in Detector Prospector Forum
Posted
I went to my local fresh water beach witch I have been to countless times.
I got a very strong hit on my TDI BH gb off, I chased and came up with a 3 1/2 inch hair pin.
A few feet away I got the same hit I pinpointed it took 1 shallow scoop it was still there I took a deeper 2nd scoop deeper than I thought
the target was, still there and centered in the hole with the X on it. If this was a surface coin I would have got it.
I have a good hunch that this another hair pin, so I took a shallow scoop to the left of my hole and there it was a large hair pin lying there.
The pin was 6 to 8 inches off to the side of where I was pinpointing it. I have been detecting since the late 70s so not new at it.
Y do long narrow targets detect off to the side not on top of them ???
