Wow, Fisher really dropped the ball there... what a wasted opportunity.

Has anyone tried using the AQ for gold prospecting? Just curious..
They're cheap now so I thought I might give it a go.

There are none....they haven't been supplied to dealers yet. Early Dec is the guess.
Kellyco claims to have 2 in stock

Important Information from White's ElectronicsJune 18, 2020
To our valued White's Dealers-
This is a very difficult message to write, but the time has come for retirement from White's Electronics.
We are suspending manufacturing operations at our Sweet Home facility while we re-evaluate the future of the company. It is never easy to make these decisions, however, we are faced with the reality of intense competition in the industry and ongoing counterfeit instruments coming from China. Lastly, there have been critical material shortages since the Covid 19 shutdown that we now find insurmountable.
All of us here in Sweet Home are grateful for your service. We consider each you part of the White's extended family.
Sincerely,
Ken WhiteAmerican Made Metal Detectors since 1950

I read that it was supposed to, but I got only one.
The battery pack slides on to the rod in a dovetail groove and is held in place by two screws with thumb heads - easy to change and pretty easy for aftermarket folks to develop other configurations if they want to
Are they lithium ion?
-
Good for you! It would probably end up being counterfeited
-
Any indication as to when these will be available? I want one!
-
I can't wait to see this thing!
-
I believe it was a gold mine. Google " Rock creek BC "
-
Will do.. I may have to wait however, it's getting ready to snow in the area seeing as it's fairly high altitude.
-
Obviously that's not gold in the pictures, but there is a lot of mineralization. The area was a large gold producer back in its day. This old mine shaft is close to a place called Rock Creek in British Columbia.

I like it, but I'm going to make some changes to it. Physical and electronic. I'll post the transformation. Coming soon

The lies, they just seem to keep piling up. What kind of people work for this company?

Solid questions, Steve, and they deserve to be answered by Whites. I don't see any bias in those questions. Too many separate answers to a simple question. C'mon Whites...what's the story? Also, the patent application may be there, but has yet to be published. You can forestall publishing for up to 18 months after the application.
Jim
It may be patented, but is it patented by White's??

I see you’re very knowledgeable on the electronics of the TDI SL . I too believe if you could get your hands on the tan SL you would know upfront what mods it had
The only thing standing in our way from us finding out is the 1099.00.
Chuck
The coil is probably nothing special. I'm willing to bet it's a standard folded mono except that it's made using Litz wire and a graphite shield.

I know, for a fact, that Whites changed the TDI SL. Probably in 2015, but for sure the Special Edition. They removed C56, and the diodes D20 and D21, and installed a jumper across two of D21's 3 contact locations. I've done the same to my old 2013 unit. They did NOT do the sweep speed mod, which entails changing capacitors C20, and C21, unless they've just started doing that. They hadn't done the SS mod on the 2018 Special Edition.
The SS mod mainly benefits nugget hunters. The C56 mod increases the overall sensitivity.
Jim
Looks like I'm going to have to do the SS mod on my 2018 SL. I'm also going to be doing additional mods as well.. cosmetic and functional. I'll post the pictures. .

Turns out that Reg Sniff publicized the idea on Geotech. Once it was publicized it can't be patented. So anybody can make and sell them.
Jim
Do have a link for this information? I'll build one.. All so, the picture says it's a patented design. ..

Wouldn't Cobalt be magnetic? Have you tried to put a magnet to it?
Cobalt is used in the making of magnets. But for some reason pulse induction metal detectors cannot pick it up
-
I believe it might be Cobalt. Cobalt is invisible to pulse induction metal detectors
