  1. I agree, the quicktrak button is an under utilized resource.

The ability to create custom modes like the 3030 would be very useful to those who wished to fiddle - especially between normal and difficult ground modes.

I was hoping the 7000 screen would have had the ability to swivel (say 20 degrees either way) and to be locked in that position.

The quicker they team up with Oziexplorer the better - that would be superb.

  2. G'day all. I was chatting to a minelab dealer who said that there are several upgrades coming before the end of the year for the Zed (apparently......). He could not say what, but I assume it will be software upgrades. Has anybody else heard about this ???

  3. Typical early season "working the bugs out" stuff. Thanks to a Good Samaritan I did not get left out with a dead truck battery! Backup starter/deep cycle battery with charging station and solar panel now ready to go on future outings.

Kind of the same deal with the module. I have been experimenting with different audio and harness options. Decided I do not need the full harness setup - my little Camelback style rucksack and bungee setup suits me fine. So now I will put a pouch on the pack just for holding the WM 12 and that will be the end of that nonsense.

Steve. Here is my setup using the pro-swing and incorporating a small camel pack. The pick holder is inspired by one of my prospecting mates. The pick is up out of the way and nicely centered. The major reason for this quantum leap in prospecting was - it frees up your left hand to walk with a beer and prospect - true story...

We are also going the Velcro route. I'm off to Bali and am getting a few made for the module and also a cover for the Zed. Will post when back ...

  4. Bada Bing, did you try JP's suggestion here:

Sounds like there is a fair component of salt in your ground down that way, to get less salt signal try the General Xtra Deep/Difficult mode and increase the Gain/Sensitivity to compensate for signal response reduction. Best way to determine Salt is to lift the coil above knee height, if there's a strong signal as you bring the coil away up to knee height and above then salt is present.

Lunk - we tried everything in every setting. Spent hours fiddling. There was a lot of residual moisture in the ground. We just had a cyclone through the area which with the 5000 gives better penetration. We will go back when it has dried out fully and retest.

  5. The 7000 in spite of the weight. It is deadly on the little stuff and punches deep with the DoD 14 inch - the 20 inch should be something to behold.

I was worried about the weight but after a week of swinging it is fine. I picked up the 5000 for a swing to check some targets - it was like a feather with the 17 inch mono ....

If there is a lot of salty ground I would possibly reconsider - we found the 7000 was very unhappy in salty mineralized ground.

    Good luck

    Cheers
