Minelab is saying another shipment will be going out this coming Monday 19th of February.

It will be interesting to see just how many each dealer receive this time. I do believe it will be a while before we see any dealer receiving a large number of Equinox’s.

What I’ve seen so far this has been more like a soap opera. I think a good name would be  As The Stomach Turns. Stay tune next to see if Joe will receive that Equinox or will he be disappointed again. If that is not to be EMS is standing by.

I do understand the excitement because I too have the same excitement within myself. The Equinox by Minelab has made a detector that none of us had anything like it before.

Like Steve I too may have some detectors forsale after I get my Equinox and take it for a run around the block a few times.

    Chuck

Hey Chuck.  You have a good source that Minelab is releasing another batch on Monday?   I am next in line with my dealer.

  2. There have been many rumors and speculation on how the first batch of Equinox's were shipped to dealers.  But, it seems that the first batch received by dealers has now shipped or is in the processes of being shipped directly the customer.  What we know for sure is the number of detectors was very very limited.  In fact, my particular dealer only received "one" 800....fortunately I am number 2 on his list.

The purpose of this thread is not for complaining or bashing shipping logistics.  Rather, this thread is for all of us to share information from our dealers on when the second batch of Equinox's will arrive and ready for shipment to us the customers.

Any "real" information that you hear from your (USA) dealer will be good for all of us who are still patiently waiting.

  3. Spot on Redneck !!  Like a said before, I will start thinking about my new 800 when the UPS Driver rings the doorbell for delivery.  I also found myself starting to get "slightly" worked up about when my Equinox will arrive.  Until then, I am going to crack a cold one or two and relax for awhile.

  4. If I remember correctly, around this time during the new year is when you share your thoughts about new detectors that may be hitting the market.  I mean come on !!  It is the first week in February and nothing from you.  I know it has been slow with new detectors lately....nothing from Nokta or White's.  Even with some of the other premiere metal detector manufacturers like Minelab....not a peep from you or anyone else.  OK.....Sorry Steve I just had to do it....HAAAAAA HAAAAA....I think we could all use a little humor right now :laugh:

  5. Champ....I agree with you 100%.  I am amazed at all the "gossip" and "fake news" that is hitting the net regarding the Equinox delivery.  It is down right hilarious what I have seen over the last few days.  I.e. Dealer "A" "is only getting "One" detector.  Dealer "B" is shipping out pre-orders this week. Dealer "C" has no news about any delivery dates, etc....etc.

I for myself will not pay attention to anything regarding my preorder delivery.  The only time I will start paying attention is when the UPS driver rings my door bell and say. "Signature required for delivery please." :biggrin:

Again, thanks everyone. I did not expect quite that reaction to my post. Part of it is very much just what it says, but there is a subtle second message for those who can read between the lines.

That includes the GPZ Fred. Of course the Equinox is not a GPZ by a long shot. If I was nothing but a gold prospector it would be the GPZ that would win the crown. I do like to coin and jewelry hunt however, and I expect to be doing that more and prospecting less as time goes on. So for me overall if I had to have just one detector Equinox is a better fit. Everyone has their own equation to solve in that regard.

Anyway, enough of that and back to our regularly scheduled programming. I still have more stuff I am sitting on to post about over the next couple weeks as the Equinox finds its way around the planet to everyone. The floodgates are ready to open in more ways than one and I am not ready to fade into the background quite yet!

OK Steve....I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I was thinking the same thing when you started this post.  Since you said "there is a subtle second message for those who can read between the lines", this is what came to mind.  Through the history of all the Equinox threads, you often use words similar to "soon", "with in the next few weeks" or "in the near future".  You are clearly do not give a definitive date about the next announcement, but usually within 48 hours, I see new information on the Minelab site.  My guess is a major announcement from Minelab is coming "very very soon":wink:.

Yes....I am reaching way over the fence on this one, but God bless this is fun isn't it !!!!

Interesting time difference, never thought about it from where I live.

Hey Mark....I am actually in Southern, CA....but just had to see what time it was in Austria this morning.  Am I impatient....no....but like I tell my better half....I am anxious :laugh:

  8. Steve,

I can not thank you enough for your preliminary feedback regarding the equinox.  I understand that with your NDA there were some limits of what you can and can not say.  However, with what you have provided so far, it is an understatement that there are many of us that feel we have a good start at understanding this detector.  As I have said before, If I want the "straight talk" about a detector, I read your posts first !!

    Thanks Again Steve

  9. Hey Cabo.....that is a killer deal for an SE.  I know it has been mentioned numerous time already, but there are some great deals out there for used Explores, e-tracs etc.  Heck, as soon as I was satisfied with the Equinox info, I sold my e-trac. This was 2 months ago....I paid $1100 new, but got $980 for it on fee bay with more than 2 years of active warrenty.

Why????  I hunt the beaches of So. Cal.  Everytime I would get too close the surf, it seemed that rouge wave would get too close for a non water proof detector.

To each his own, but I am confident that my Eqinox preorder is the right decision for me.

    Wait.....I already have 2 Excals and a Dual Field.  Do I really need the Equinox.....Yes I do. : -)

  10. Hello Steve,

As Cabo Chris stated above....and....as I have stated before on a previous post, ML has done a spectacular job with marketing the Equinox.  However, here is IMO i where I think we stand today on the Equinox release:

    1) I will start by saying I am very excited about the upcoming release....am I impatient....no... just excited.  However, I also think we are getting to the point where some folks are starting getting very impatient.  As you indicted, until I see the info on your site or see it directly on the ML site, I am not going to feed on the speculation/rumors of a pending release date.  But, my dealer included, gave this magic release date of "before Christmas".  With only a couple weeks left, I am afraid the detecting sites might start to get ugly.  Hey....I am starting to see some of this already.,

    2) As I stated above the Marketing Department at ML has knocked it out of the park.  But....I also think that we are getting to the point of "diminishing returns".  I don't want to get all "college puke" on everyone, but I do remember a little about marketing strategy.  It goes like this....think about your favorite food that you may have not had in 6 month.  That first bite is awesome....so is the second....and third bite.  However, there comes a time after the 40th bite you are done....and....it is just not good any more.  I think that is where we are heading with the pending Equinox release.  Lots of great info since the announcement to include specs, accessories and even a few field tests.  But, we are coming up on a quarter of a year since the announcement....just maybe we are getting to that point of "diminishing returns:

Oh by the way....did I say I am excited and not impatient....: - )

  11. Here are my thoughts on the timeliness of the Equinox release.  Minelab is very very smart with their marketing on this one.  However, I also think there is a fine line between announcing their new detector and the timing of announcing the actual Equinox release date.  Do I think the detector will be for sale before Christmas??  Even with all the rumors out there, I like everyone else, know one but Minelab really knows.

From a marketing standpoint....AND....if detector is ready to go, Minelab could announce the release date before the holidays.  Regardless, I think we are getting close.  Here is why:

    1. Specs have been released. 2. Quick start guide available. 3. Equinox Accessories made public.  Just a WAG, but I think we are getting close to Minelab at least announcing the released date.  When we all have one in our hands may be a different story.

    GOD BLESS THIS IS FUN.....ISN"T IT?  ; - )

  12. Hey Beach Hunter,

Looks like you and I more than likely hunt some of the same beaches. ...I also have a 800 pre-ordered.

It is interesting to read through the various posts as to why some folks hold on to their detectors and why others decide to let them go.  I also sold my CTX about a year ago for a couple of different reasons.

    1) Too heavy, 2) I just do not need (IMO) all the bells and whistles for salt water beach hunting.  For me, beach hunting is simple....discriminate just below iron....if it beeps I dig it !!  I am one that does not need target trace, a GPS, FE/CO settings or the necessity to stare at a detector screen, etc.  Again...this is just me....I am sure many others have a different hunting preference, and that is ok.

I currently have two Excal's and a Whites Dual Field....but I also am very excited about the Equinox.  Light weight, simple and new technology that will excel in salt water wet sand.  Yes....lot's of questions still....however, I have high expectation for this detector.

  13. Hello Steve,

Unless I missed it somewhere in a previous post, I was wondering if you were part of the Equinox development team.  With all the great info you have been providing, it isn't a wonder that many of us are very exited about the pending release. I guess I now have my answer.

This is what I enjoy most about your forum....unbiased opinions from someone who could care less about detector brands.  As the old saying goes, "you tell it like it is"  nothing more nothing less.

PS....I have the 800 pre-ordered....can't wait to swing this bad boy on the So. Cal. beaches.

    THANKS AGAIN STEVE....AWESOME FORUM !!!!

Just to give John grief there is no way if I were shopping right now that an MXT Pro for $823 is going to get a second look from me as I look at what I could get in the Equinox 800 for $76 more. Those days are dead, over, and gone and it is simply a matter of time before the MXT is discontinued altogether. It is a 20th century detector facing 21st century reality.

    Steve,

Well said !!  Part of the beauty of this new detector is the speculation of what it can and can not do.  Will it separate targets better than "X" detector?  Will it go deeper than "Y" detector?  This is all speculation until we all have it in our hands and decide for ourselves.  Until then....let's all relax and have fun with the posts....for Pete's Sake....it just metal detector.

The only two things I do know for sure about this detector are:

    1. When the Equinox is finally released, I WILL buy one.

    2. The board members at Codan are laughing all the way to the bank ; - )

  15. Greetings Tboykin,

I hope you and the good folks at Whites have a new PI or multi-frequency detector in the hopper.  I think we have seen enough new single frequency detectors to get us by for a while.

I am not brand specific, so if Whites is going to make a move....I have some "man money stash" set aside.  Are you taking pre-orders :biggrin:

  16. I will start be saying is has been a pretty good year already with the release of several detectors.  With out sounding too impatient, I would love to see Fisher release a new muti-frequency or PI type detector soon.  What are your thoughts of this happening with the next couple of months??
