  1. Steve: I am making the order in the below order; please look through again. Thanks. Option 1 of the below: http://www.kellycodetectors.com/products/gold/na12-goldbugprocmbo/gold-bug-pro-2-coil-combo Option 2 of this: http://www.kellycodetectors.com/products/gold/na12-goldbug-pro/gold-bug-pro
  2. Steve: Please what is the right answer to give the sales person for the gold detector shop. He is asking me the below question, What version of the gold bug do you want? This is after I told him that I want the Fisher Gold Bug Pro DP. http://www.kellycodetectors.com/products/search/?q=gold+bug&refinements=&formid=NTUwYzgwYmU3ZjZkMQ%3D%3D&p=0#P1
  3. Adam: I love the adjective used, "sacrifice". That's what I always say to my brothers and sisters here. In fact, today I still told a friend of mine that resides in Australia that all that we need is "sacrifice". In our case, it is something that must come from everybody not only the soilders. I have an undying believe that we will get there no matter what time it takes.
  4. Adam: I visited America in 2008. November 2nd and stayed till 10th Nov basically to witness the elections. You guys are priviledged to be living in a comfort zone.
  5. Steve, Gold Hound, Adam: Nature placed some of us here and we don't have to run away but see how we could make things work. I know that many brutality and dastardly acts have been committed all in the name of trying to make some money out of innocent expatriates but its not enough to conclude that its a "no go area". Many places are still safe. I pray things will get better for me on this project and I will be glad to invite all of you to come and partake of the development that is deeply needed in my continent-Africa. For now, what is most important to me is the invaluable and unquantifiable information that I get from all of you. I am so glad that I joined this forum. Thanks to all of you!
  6. Steve: Thanks for giving me the comfort that the Gold Bug Pro will work well in Africa. I will stick by your professional advise and go for two Gold bug pro. I believe that you and Adam can't be wrong to advise on two of same brand. More so, I told myself that I am using your eyes to buy the right detector.
  7. Gold Hound: Thanks, I will get a submersible pump from here. They are quite affordable.
  8. Gold Hound: 5m3/h is small. Our focus is to start small and grow from there. In 2009, I was looking at something big and this actually did not allow me to make any meaningful move because I always see my intended moves then as too meagre for the vision that I have on the project. In Dec 2014, I decided to start small and then grow big from that. After that decision, I have seen myself take very meaningful steps which led to my procuring the things that I will need in bits. Yes, the soil analysis that I carried out on the site indicated that it is highly mineralized. What I read on both Gold bug pro and Nokta Fors gold say they are good on mineralized soil. That's why I decided on having them. Do you mean they may not be able to handle mineralized soil? Please expantiate on this for me. Thanks for your drilling sampling holes that could be turned into the bore-hole idea. I believe its going to be more practical compared to my initial plan of an artificial dam or pond structure with a taumpoline material. In fact, using the drill sample hole as the bore hole will be most economical for me because I already have a 35,000liter/hour pump which will be useful and the plumbing need won't be that expensive.
  9. Adam Robinson: I forgot to mention, For the grid sampling, I have improvised flags and label them accordingly.
  10. Adam Robinson: Thanks. I decided on Fisher Gold Bug Pro and Nokta Fors Gold because I want to have the opportunity of variety. Thinking that where Gold bug pro is weak, the Fors gold maybe be strong. More so, I will have the opportunity to access the functionality of two brands and use that to determine future detectors that will be most ideal. Last week Friday, I took a training on how to grid sample though doing so without any specialize device but using my detectors. In fact, I was advised to dedicate the first 2-3 weeks to grid sampling. Your message makes me to accept more that the importnace of grid sampling can not be over emphasized. Seems most people on this group are very vast and experienced!
  11. Reno Chris: First message inconclusive. I am prospecting in a town in a State in the South West of Nigeria. The town is in Osun State.
  12. Reno Chris: Thanks. I have sorted my purchase of the detector. I am going to buy it online to be shipped to a friend of mine in Chicago. He knows how to send it to me. There is still a very strict legal restriction on gold prospecting in South Africa and the violator risk being jailed for more than 20years. I am prospecting in a town in the South Western State
  13. Gold Hound: My budget on metal detector is not to be more than $1,500: I need two; one for me and the other for my partner. The minelab gp3500 was around $3,900 when I checked.
  14. Gold Hound; Itsapproximately 5ton per hour. I have a pump that is 32,000 per liter and the sluice is estimated to need about 20,000liter of water per hour which I think the artificial dam or pool structure would cater for. The site is actually alluvial though not without some small rocks which is why the sluice manufacturer designed the box in such a way that it allows the alluvial concentrate alone go into the sluice. As for the water, like you said a bore-hole will be a better option to the pond-like structure but again I am also concern of the cost. I wish to develop the hobby of using the detector locate nugget and also make some earning from that exercise like you but my main aim is to see the small scale mining kick start and I will also be glad to create jobs for the locals there which is one of the reasons that we are been allowed to have the lease.
  15. Gold Hound: Your contribution is invaluable to me. Thanks. I didn't do the sampling using the cubic meter procedure. But to build the sluice, I brought about 200kg of the soil sample to the manufacturer of the sluice box. In terms of the water situation, there is a stream close to site, I have been advised to also build a pool-like structure with a taumpoline material for ease of water supply for the sluice. I agree with you that I still have to do so much. I have decided to commence against all odds because I realized that each time I look at the enormous task that need to be done I always defer them but now is the time to start doing something no matter how little. My estimate at the moment is that in 3-6months, I would recoup the investment that I have put in so far. Yes, the minelab gpx range are pretty good but I am very careful on how much I invest so as to reduce the cost of production. I definitely would consider a better detector with time.
  16. Peteren: Thanks. The first detector brand name that I got to know in 2009 and which I enquired from both in their Canada and Pretoria North, South Africa offices is Minelab. I had their products shown to me in their office here. I am not considering minelab now because of the cost of the type that I would have loved to get in their range of detectors. I am at this stage also careful of putting too much in the cost of production while I can get less cost with other machine brands with same functionalities. I appreciate your calling my attention to minelab but I still would stick to the Nokta Fors Gold and Fisher gold bug pro detectors.
  17. Gold Hound: Thanks so much. I am not experienced in mining and I would not call myself a complete novice either. I have already in my list of equipment a Sluice box with the complete accessories, 2pans and 1 smelter. I want to add 2 detectors basically because my friend and I want to take advantage of the new task to develop an hubby of searching for the nuggets in the same area. I have made a professional geologist here give the best coordinates after which we processed about a ton with a less capacity sluice to what I bought now and we got 13gram of gold in 2010. I also had a friend do his indepedent trial mining at same place and he came up with 100g in 2014. This site is still unexplore because nobody is working on it. I don't know if this is the sampling that you refer to? If it is not, please kindly give me your own idea of the sampling that you mean. I sincerely want to learn because I want to succeed in this endevour. I must confess that it took this long because I don't want to rush into it so that I won't fail. Even now, I am prepared to take my time as much as I need to so that I can put things right. I might have used Steve Herschbach's eyes to pick the detectors, I am very much aware that I need my own hands and heart to find the gold. This I intend to do by doing more research/study and most importantly listening to the experts and more experienced people in the industry. I strongly believe that to study is good but a teaching from a very great teacher is far more than many studies. You guys are really impressive and I know that a day will come that I will write the story of this venture. I am certain that you all, particularly Steve will be mentioned in my book. I am glad that I joined this group. From my calculation, we should commence operation in mid or end of April because of the paper work.
  18. Rumblefish: I could not get those two brands here in South Africa(Jburg,CpT or Pta). I would contact Fisher and Nokta directly to see how they could ship if metaldetector can't also ship.
  19. Deathray: Thanks so much! I have read Steve's review yesterday and I thought I understood it until you called my attention to it today. With the benefit of Steve's earlier explanation in terms of the frequency and the functions, I think that I am more informed to make the best choice. Though my budget played a major too. Another thing is that I am left handed. I feel that I should go for 1, Nokta Fors Gold (Left-handed) 2, Fisher Gold Bug Pro Can you recommend any shop with a good online sales and policy? I am in Pretoria, South Africa. From here, I think Kellyco looks to me like a serious online shop. Any other suggestion that may have better price? Thanks!!!
  20. Hi, I have tried to do some research so that I can decide on a detector to use based on some factors like the task I need the detetcor to do, the market reviews on the detector, the efficiency as noted by past users and of course my budget. I decided to stick to two out of the 5 listed detctetors. I decided on having two because of those that will be working with me. I listed them according to their appraisal from my research so far. 1, Tesoro Lobo 2, Makro Racer 3, Nokta Fors or Nokta Velox 4, White's MX5 5, Fisher F5 Please kindly send me your comments, advise or information that may be of use. I sincerely appreciate everybody here and acknowledge the knowledge that has been impacted on me in less than 24hours of being a member of this forum. Great job guys! Keep it up!!
  21. Mn90403, thank you so much. I do not know anyone that owns the detector. A friend that has been involvd in prospecting is the one that advise me that I can get just any detector.
  22. Thanks Steve for the candid advise. The analysis on the impact of frequency on the metal target and efficiency really made my day. I believe that I am informed enough to look for a functional detector. I actually intend to start a small scale mining and really need to use the detector to know where the gold really is instead of just digging anywhere in the name of mining. At the same time, I will be using the detector to find nuggets around same place because the location is believed to have huge gold deposit but it is highly unexplored as well. Please don't hesitate to give me any additional information that you know will help my new found love. Thanks so much again Steve
  23. Sorry, I forgot to mention to you that I am in South Africa but I intend to use the detection in the south-western part of Nigeria.
  24. Hi Steve, please I need your advise on the detetctor that I just ordered from China, Nugget 9.5inch, waterproof coil with 9.6khz. Its sold by Chinavasion. I actually ordered before getting to know about this site of yours and as someone with little or no knowledge about the detetctor, I go for something cheap and also with a reasonable depth. The depth of this machine is 3.5m. I am writing this because I could still cancel the order if I know it won't be functional. I also noticed yesterday that most of the detectors from US give 5yrs warranty while this one gave just 1yr warranty. Please kindly advise. Anybody else could give helpful hints. I will also like to know what the FREQUENCY rating means to a detetctor. Thanks
