I think this guy does decent comparison videos, he does them for all the coils he buys and that's why he says unbiased as he buys the coil soon after they come out when at the time the market is flooded with videos from people "involved" in some way or another, his videos are from a paying customers stand point.   Someone in the comments on one of his videos asked if he'd do an X-coil one but he said they're too expensive, fair enough as he'd have to pay another $300 AUD or so for the coil then another $200 AUD to get his adapter made so unless you're finding a lot of gold the extra price is significant.  I'd like to see him do it though on the same targets the same way.

The results are about what I was expecting, a 14x13" vs a 17x13" with the same windings type is unlikely to give much more depth if any I think on these particular test targets.

You just skip the waffling at the start of the video and watch it when the action takes place 🙂

Typical big eliptical performance, no benefit. Its longer too so you'd expect it to not be any better. So many big elipticals are fizzers. Coiltek Zulu Shield, useless, NF 17 Advantage no better than the Commander, this looks to along the same fizzer path.

Jeez. That really bothered you? I guess working Construction for 32 years, it's the norm for me.

No, i worked similar. Even in security, as a bouncer and armed night gaurd, in Melbourne in the 80s 90s. Mad stuff. When I was then language was held back. Just scum talked like that. Drunk bums and nobodies. Now its normalised, on TV and everywhere mate. We once had damn respect for who heard our words. Its now gone. I worked too mate as a rigger for several yrs in Melbourne. We had respect, guess its gone and you were not around then so it doesn't "bother you".

Good on you with foul disrespectful language being the norm, Norm.

Some of us still try to show respect.

Good to see that another manufacturer may finally be getting something on the market that will attempt to compete with Minelab. A gold machine that is lite weight, works with after market coils and can compete with the higher end Minelabs is needed in this industry.

Shame here the Price convert makes the Garrett on par virtually with the 6.

When the 2000 came out here in OZ it was around 2g, within months it doubled.

Up, and up PI prices went sadly 😕

Having only one detector now I have been forced to learn how to use it for hunting gold. I have had the Nox 800 for about 2 years, and have not really used it that much. A little on coins in the summer months when I am back in Michigan, but never while in Arizona hunting gold. It has been a real learning experience with many many hours in the field the last 3 weeks with little to show for it. I am hunting one of the most pounded area in western Arizona and maybe the US. I have read and re-read many articles on gold hunting with the Nox but by far what has help me the most was a series of 3 articles produced by Steve Herschbach back in 2014 “Finding gold with a VLF” published in ICMJ magazine. It is very good reading for those who have not read it. After apply Steves principles things started to come around for me. I have hated being without my Monster and my GPX6000 but maybe it was for the better. I surely am becoming more capable with any detector I pick up now but I am still learning everyday out in the field. That will probably never end. Some days are still great even though my best detectors are in for repairs. I don’t have any fancy pictures but here is a couple of my finds with the Nox.

Nothing wrong with those finds. Good one.

Well, I can’t claim it was much of a trip for gold, but I have a dozen little nuggets in the vial, and a silver 1914 six pence today for icing. The best part is I got to see a large chunk of Australia I never saw before, and had a lot of interesting interaction with the Garrett crew. It was interesting seeing novices use the Axiom on varied ground, and while the nuggets were small, everyone involved found gold nuggets. Packed up now for the long trip home, just in time to hand out candy to all the cute little kids!

My thanks to everyone in the Garrett network that made this a special and very enjoyable trip.

Group nuggets less a couple I left out by mistake

    My 12 bits, 1.18 g total, smallest 0.023 gram

I'm not going to retire on that gold! The well hunted public areas in Australia are well hunted indeed, giving up only scattered tiny bits for visitors. The Australian 1914 sixpence is my best find of the trip, would actually be worth more than a few bucks if it was in better condition.

You did well mate. Hunted in Central Vic since 1990. Smashed now. Anything anyone finds here in any state is good going. You did well from another country. Damn, was it good till mid 2000s. Current gear is stretching it even here in OZ.

    Good finds 👍
