  1. My only concern with closing for the rest of the summer into early fall is the possibility of riff raff showing up while you are gone. High grading could be very profitable to them if only on a short term basis while you are gone! However having a rest of a few weeks before giving it hell for a few weeks before winter snows shut you down could be beneficial to both of you. And then there is the mater of the equipment while you are gone. If left on site I see someone potentially destroying them or at least doing major damage with a couple pounds of sugar. I'm sure there are other considerations that factor in to your decision but if it were me I think I would leave when the good water dries up. If I wasn't going too far off site for the rest time I might intermittently check on the mine at odd times to protect my interests. I am interested to see what your final decision will look like!

  2. With the demise of the AZ Outback and lately the Nuggetshooter forums I have lost touch with a couple guys. One is older probably in his mid 70's now the other is maybe 50's. I would meet up with them at the GPAA claim in Gold Basin ... he (older guy) and his friend Mike. The older had a class A camper and short trailer for his ATV ... he actually popped a windshield once at GB on one of those baby smooth roads/trails! They were there in the summer and down to their claim in Yuma in the winter. The older one was concerned about sensitivity to targets by certain coils on a GPX-4500. I would compare with him on my GPX-5000. We actually made a little test field at the GPAA claim in GB. He also had a club membership to Gold Basin claims owned by a club out of Nevada. Mike eventually ended up with a GPZ-7000 and later the older man did too. Hope that is enough info for someone to recognize and let me know if he is on this site too.

  3. Jacob did the deed. You were not even in sight of the event. You were not a murderer ... an accessary to murder perhaps ... but not murder in the first degree. Jacob murdered in the first degree and if it goes to court ... well ... he is an old man at this point so life in prison or worse would not be terrible for him. You on the other hand depending on the length of the sentence if convicted may be behind bars for a very long time. I hope you are able to talk Jacob out of shooting the other two.

  4. I just had a text communication with Bill Southern. He said the nugget shooter forum is closed. As for the info that was on the forum, that is on the forum host system and he is not sure how to access it if it accessible at all. However he did want me point out that the store and website for the store and the videos on Nugget Shooter Journal are still alive and well. (Hope you don't mind me posting this Steve as info for the general population on this forum ... this is the only post I will make about it)

  5. I hope I am not speaking out of turn here ... not meaning to at all ... I know Bill is still trying to make up his mind ... but I think he may be leaning toward closing the forum down. Traffic there has been slowed during the covid years and hasn't really picked up. A lot of the old guard that made the forum what it once was have passed on to the Heavenly Gold Fields. I will keep checking the forum pages and will check in with Bill again after the weekend. Seems the use of YouTube has also cut into the forum ... and not just Nugget Shooter. The cost to maintain a forum is not cheap. So there is no sense to throw good money after something that isn't being used.
