I wonder if somebody spread cremated remains and the gold tooth was in it or if it would melt in the process?

I have found some other teeth and have no idea what they are from and those are somewhat melted. I found about four gold ones and those are pretty much intact since like tvr said the melt point is higher than what the crematory uses.

  2. I got out 3 times and was able to snag some decent targets.

This hunt was done at the rocky beach I frequent during winter. There were lots of targets, more than I could dig in one hunt. I got about $8 in clad. The first row is all the good jewelry, one small 14k (.73g), and the rest Silver. The second row of rings are all junkers.

This second hunt netted about $12 in clad and a small/light broken 14k pendant.

The last hunt wasn’t all that great but I somehow managed to get a gold tooth that weighs 3.6g. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Hunting.

A gold coin is a gold coin no matter how old  it is.If you found it  with a detector you are in the gold coin club.A  great find.

I didn’t find this one with the detector however I was lucky enough to have become a member of the club a few years back.

Wow, and to have no idea where you found it – I wish mysterious gold coins would start materializing in my collection, too.

Sometimes miracles do happen.  The only place that I can think of is the coinstar since I hunt those whenever I’m at the store. I am always on the hunt eyetecting wherever I go.

Well ... maybe Seeker has already been there!  haha

I haven’t been south of Hermosa since September of last year unfortunately, so it wasn’t me, this time 😇. I did venture north of Malibu but only swung for an hour so I don’t find anything.

Congrats on the finds and gold schoolofhardNox.

May not be a USA coin, but that guy had a huge influence on what has occurred in this country over the last 40+ years.

Great find regardless of its origin.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t do too much research other than trying to find out what it was. I did find out the date though.  The date on the coin is 1354 SH but if you add 621 you can convert it to our calendar year and it’s 1975.

  6. Me and the wife were looking thru some older money and foreign currency and I came across this coin. I had seen it before but I didn't pay it much attention. I honestly have no idea where or when I found it. It’s a 1/4 Pahlavi Mohammed Reza Sha made from 1945-1979. I weigh mine and it’s exactly 2.03 grams. I know it’s not an American gold coin but I’m still happy to have it in my collection.

Good to see a CA report action.  I was passing through So. CAL (on my way to some land-hunting objectives), on 1/29.  I hit Santa Monica and Manhattan beach.  The storms/swells had *just* gone by the day or two before, and I was hoping that some residual action was maybe still there.   But it was as you said:   Rather disappointing.  And other So. CA guys reported the same thing:  Not as good as they'd have hoped.

We had some action up in my part of CA (Monterey Bay beaches) during that event.  But nothing earth-shattering.

Next time you pass by to do some dirt hunting let me know.  I promise my rates aren’t as high as others since I only charge 29.99% of whatever you find for hunting in this part of CA 😎

I saw the reports you posted elsewhere and that silver dollar and gold chain were nice. It’s surprising that not a lot of gold was found in SoCal although quite a few beaches had 3+ foot cuts. I guess we need 5+ foot cuts to get to the older stuff. Hope the storm/waves next week are good enough for one or two golds. Good luck up there.

Your doing a good job with the finds. I sure wish I was closer to a beach.

Being only 45 minutes from the beach helps but getting out is the hard part.  I’m sure there’s lakes and rivers where you’re at with some beaches waiting for you to loot 👍🏼

Great start to the year, may the good finds keep coming, and i'm with dogodog, where's the beach? 👍

Thanks. The beach is here in SoCal, come on down. I have to worn you though, it’s freezing, we just dipped into the 50’s 🥶😅

You had an amazing month seeker-congrats on all the treasure!

Thanks Compass. Last year I missed so many good storms so I wanted to do better this year. Things are looking good and I would be happy to get one gold ring from here on out.

    12 hours ago, mn90403 said:

That is quite a month.  Well done.  It looks like you averaged one gold ring for every 2 hours or so!

I think I did 10-12 hunts although I didn’t count them. I hunt 5hrs on average so looks about a ring per hunt, maybe less. I don’t think I’ll be getting out as much from now on but we shall see.

First thing I want to say is what great finds you are making this year.

Second thing I want to say is Show Off, you keep killing us with the finds. Just kidding.

Good luck on your next hunt.

Thanks Valens.  I’m just trying to do my part in trying to inspire others. I know I like to look at other peoples treasure post and that gets me fired up to get out there and get my share. Now get out there and swing your 800 and come back and share with the rest of us to keep the hobby alive 😎

  9. I was able to get out a few times for the recent SoCal storms.  Although I came across a few cuts there wasn’t much gold to be found.

This is my first hunt of the storm.  I found enough targets to keep me busy. The 14k ring with diamonds was an eyeball find that was laying on top of some black sand and 90% of the ring was exposed. The teeth were found almost at the end of the hunt and they appear to be gold but haven’t tested yet. As you can see there was almost no jewelry in this hunt.

This second hunt provided a lot more targets and jewelry but surprisingly only one gold. I found quite a bit of silver.

The third hunt provided a decent amount of coins but only two pieces of jewelry.  I thought they were both junk but the earring is marked 10k on the stem and has diamond chips.

These are all my better finds for January. This has been my best month/year in my short time in the hobby.  Thanks for looking and good luck out there.

Great job and thanks for the view of what is out there.  I had the feeling the waves had done some classification and I would have loved to have stayed longer on the beach on Friday.

Thanks also for the 'get a couple of towers away' thinking.  If I get out and see someone working my way then I'll either jump behind them or pickup and go to another beach.  I hate to be crowded.

These finds weren’t from this storm but the one before.

I was there Friday and I saw a guy with a pulse induction gridding following the tide down. I went back up to the dry sand to pass him, I was planning to start at a specific place which was 4 towers away.  He saw me walking and he decided to follow me.  I got to where I wanted to start hunting and he passed me just far enough for his detector not to interfere with mine and started detecting there. This guy is quite a piece of work, he’s a veteran Detectorist who can’t fill he’s holes or even take his trash he digs, leaving it besides the holes. Sorry for the rant but this was quite annoying so I had to share.

What a great hunt. When you have the power of the ocean   to  separate all the different metals by  density then finding that location  where it dropped   off the heavy one is what it is all about. Here location is everything. All my plus 4  gold days were always made in these spots. The gold  lying on the clay with only a couple of inches of clay are sometimes the easiest hits of all.I am talking about the power of the  Great Lakes in my situation and they  do a good job of  separating too but without your big tides.

I think this is only my second time getting four gold rings in one hunt. It feels good when you find a spot that’s classified properly.  I’ve come across a few beaches where heavier rings were mixed in with the light stuff. I guess that’s Mother Nature way of messing with us beach hunters.

Hallelujah !!!!  Great finds!!! I sure could use a beach right now, were getting 14'' of snow right now. No detecting for me anytime soon. Thanks for the pic's

I like the snow but can only endure a couple hours. I spent a year in Great Lakes Illinois and I don’t miss that place one bit. Stay safe.

  12. Got out for a couple of hours to get my detecting fix and quite the fix it was.  The hunt started off slow as usual. I got to the beach and there was a Detectorist there already so I decided to start two towers away. I like to zig zag and try to find a patch to work instead of just picking a spot and start gridding. After a mile or so of walking I found the larger ring so decided to stay there. Within a few minutes I found my second gold ring and then the 3rd and fourth.  I wanted to keep at it at that spot but it started to get crowded so I left. The 4 gold rings and earrings came from one spot and the other junk rings and silver ring came from a different spot which I had to leave because of the tide kicking me out.  Thanks for looking and good luck out there.

The left gold ring is 10k and the rest 14k.

So the ring was marked '925' but was actually copper?  That's low.  I gotta say it's both ugly and uncomfortable looking.  Take that, counterfeiters!  The tungsten ring appears to have a yellow color, but is that just due to reflection?

No question that the 3rd ring is the prize.  I like the design in the metal.  Can you tell what the base material is that the red jewels are embedded in, and if it was intended to be that color?  Excellent find, regardless.

I agree with you on the silver ring. The tungsten is actually light yellow so it look nice in the sand pile. I think the gray metal on the gold ring is silver, looks a little pitted under a magnifying glass.

    Garnets or rubies?

Looks like one was resized a couple times. Good run.

The only thing I can tell with my untrained eyes is that they are not diamonds 🤷‍♂️ They do glow under UV light, I don’t if that tells you anything.

  14. Another good hunting day this month. I went out for a low tide stroll and as usual things start slow. The .925 silver which is actually copper came in about the second hour. The next one was the gold ring with some tiny Ruby’s (I think that’s what they are).  This ring was a lucky find since all I had found around was light trash and I was getting ready to move one.  The tungsten was my last and I called it quits after that. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

You guys didn't leave me anything except dig marks!  haha  The wind was filling the holes.  I could have done better with my eyes on the dry sand.  🙃

If the holes weren’t filled than that wasn’t me. All the black sand made it hard to get deep targets. I got lucky with the eyeball find it or else I would had gone home without jewelry. Good luck out there.

Not just the clasp being magnetic?  That looks like a lot of craftsmanship and extra features to be made out of iron alloy.

Amazing (to me, anyway) that you found three gold rings in one detect.  But I guess that's not super unusual in the feast-or-famine salt water game?  Thanks for the post.

The actual cross is magnetic and the magnet I’m using is a normal one available at any store. I’m sure the pins holding Christ to the cross should be made of the same metal as the cross. Finding 3 or more gold rings in a hunt is quite rare since there’s so much competition. HH

The 14K rings kind of look like a set. Wonder if they were set on a towel, then the towel was picked up or shaken before they remembered where the rings were set down? Probably will never know.

    Nice finds!

We can only guess on how they were lost. I forgot to post that I found besides a 6” cut that was a couple hundred feet long. Besides thrash there was nothing else close to them. HH

Don't know if these were from yesterday but even more impressive, if so-  at times it was brutal out there with 40 mph winds and blowing sand!

I’m actually behind on posting rings for this year, surprisingly I’m doing great. I was out there yesterday and the winds were howling making it hard to walk in a straight line. I didn’t dig gold yesterday sort of speak since the one I did find was just laying there on the black sand, 90% of the ring exposed. This is the first time I find a gold this way. I hope you had some luck yesterday and some more today. HH

  17. I got out for a few hours for a low tide hunt. Things started of slow with not many targets. The first good target was the little yellow ring. Later the cross marked .925 but it’s magnetic. I walked a few miles and finally stumble upon the last two 14k rings, which were a couple feet apart from each other. I also managed to find two and a silver quarter. Good luck out there, HH.

Congrats on the silver and gold Seeker- looks like a great spot! Yes, 10K gold gets pretty brittle. Even old class rings will shatter if you drop them on a hard surface. Pretty sure that rings get smashed by tumbling among the rocks. I have found shards of silver that used to be rings.

Thanks Compass. This spot destroys jewelry and coins, some of the coins come out paper thin. Congrats on completing your Cartier, it’s a beauty. Hope you have Golden year again 👍🏼
