  1. Hi Rick ,

Good luck with the filters , that sure is an interesting idea '

The perforated plate I used can handle tumbling big rocks , those rocks do most of the work to release the gold then gravity takes over .

The best thing about these mixers is the return compared to using just a detector only , just take some samples first to check where the gold is concentrating then start shovelling  :D

    Have Fun

    Jack .

  2. Hi Rick ,

I made my own , bought a cheap Chinese cement mixer new & converted it .

Best type are the ones that already have the bowl in two parts so you don't need to cut them in half .

Got some scrap perforated plate & rolled it to shape welded some bars to reinforce it then bolted it on with a 2 inch gap at the back .

Best thing is they are so easy to use & the gold can't get out of mine  ^_^ ^_^

  3. Hi Chickenminer ,

It works both wet or dry , I've only used mine dry .

All I do is shovel unclassified material into the trommel ( rocks help break down stuff ) I usually run a couple of wheel-barrows through then pan the left overs to check .

It self empties as it go's through the process , the lighter material go's over the lip & the big stuff gets out the front of the trommel , very easy to use .

I had to fit two scrape backs on each side to stop the flaky gold escaping .

After you do a load ' rake down the tailings & check with a detector for any bigger nuggets that made it out of the trommel .

  4. Steve wrote about the Diablo Umax's secondary hot rock ground balance that intrigued him . I agree it's a super handy thing to have , although there are some hot rocks you can not completely balance out it changes their signal so you can still tell when not to dig .

Why Tesoro have not revised the Lobo with this ability plus  manual ground balancing as well as auto is a mystery  ?

They could call it the Lobo Umax .

  5. Talking about the F75 , I bought one of the first when they came out , I already had a SD2100 I got new in 1996 & an older Whites Goldmaster .

Well I read the manual & from the first hunt with the F75 I hated the thing !  far to chatty with an overload of information that slowed me to a crawl , got rid of it soon after , maybe they improved it & ironed out the bugs these days .

Shame Tesoro stopped selling their Diablo Umax ' great feather weight easy to use performer , there's one on Ebay at the moment  .

Wish Steve had tested one of these , don't think he ever got the chance .

    Jack .
