Anyone that ever can, visit the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A real jaw dropping experience in the wonders of science.
Got to agree with that. And a real eye opener to the advancement of science in a very short space of time

If so Steve, How were they getting around the chip? Happy new year to you.
JW 🤠
An adapter the same as X coil is doing now.
In my gold detecting Utopia all coils would be plug and play like the new Z search. But if the best performance comes from a coil where I have to use an adapter, so be it. At this stage I will probably get both.
Now even though I cannot and don't speak for Rohan or Minelab and seriously have no clue of the reasoning either, I am going to do what everyone else has done and tell you exactly the reason why The Z search coil is the way it is.😁
It's because just like Putin would have killed for the leads and chips for his X coils, Minelab said if you want them you have to build coils to these certain parameters or specifications. NF agreed.
I bet my left one Rohan would kill to have free reign with leads and chips and if he did what we'd have would most likely be way different than the Z search. But, knowing NF, the Z search will be a performer anyway.
Like I said, I have no idea..but that's exactly what happened.😄
ps. Happy new one to you too.

Absolutely guaranteed they wouldn't be building them. So you can all thank X coils for what has come about.👋
JW 🤠
Not quite correct, NF were farting about with GPZ coils well before X was admitted as a letter of the alphabet

Hi everyone.
I have a Gpx5000, Based your experiences, which coil is the best between the 2 Nuggetfinder 17"x13" coils. The Solid coil or spoked?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Nigel M.
I've had both, as for which is best? No difference.
As for which I prefer? I've always preferred a spoked coil. I like to see what is directly under the coil and always found them easier to pinpoint I think for the same reason.
Never really had a problem with them even in stick hangeruppy type places

Well done mate. Miss wa. Does the vein run/outcrop along the ground or is it more pod like? Thanks for sharing.
Hi Duck, yep you must be itching to get back over. Hopefully this year if the don't close the internal borders again, I think a lot of the indigenous areas/ communities are still declared bio areas and if not they will be if the Kungflu gets a foot in the door over here again.
As for this spot, in line about 50 metres away there are 2 spots where the old boys dug out the quartz down about the same depth as I am. It seems to be running the same way.
This area is littered with quartz veins running through the host rock anywhere from 5mm to 2 feet wide. They are at surface in areas then disappear into the ground again only to pop up a bit further on.
I am going to pick a few random spots in the line and dig down to see if I can locate the quartz and take some samples. I'm thinking I've just hit a little enrichment that's been at surface level.
Good luck to you and the misses for this year mate, stay healthy and no licking strangers from declared hot spots.
-
Thanks GB and JR...will give that a shot
-
Thanks JP, sort of what I've been doing though I need to be more methodical and learn to mark my sample bags.
-
Thanks JR, yeah don't really want to give up just yet, hoping it's just pinched out with a bulb down lower.
She's in mongrel ground though, mentally fatiguing.
-
Thanks fellas!
The heats not too bad at the moment JP, bounces about from low to mid to high 30's with a few into the 40's
But if you bounce out the door at 4.30am you ease into it. You just need a constant fluid drip in your arm.
Now for the gurus... No more signals at the 2 foot mark but the quartz that is holding it is still going down.
Would you continue chasing it down incase it picks up again and if so how far?
-
bugger! Sorry not sure why images etc aren't showing.
-
Because I'm a nice bloke and deserve it 😀
Down about 2 feet and not getting anymore signals so not sure if I'll pursue it any further. Was hoping it would balloon out down lower.

Will update when it's all crushed and I know what I have, was hoping it would be substantial but probably only a couple of ounces.

Vanursepaul recently posted in a thread somewhere a picture of a pair of thongs he had.
I posted some remark about how they looked ideal for out here as the Double Gees nail regular thongs to your feet and asked what brand they were.
He replied how they were not off the shelf and he had them made...most likely at some expense.
Low and behold this morning I find a private message asking for my size and mailing address as he was going to get a pair made and send them to me.
I've declined (hopefully politely) as I've ran with his idea and will make a set myself.
I just wanted to acknowledge the calibre of a bloke who would make such a generous offer to a complete stranger on the other side of the world.
Thankyou sincerely Paul for the very kind and generous offer.
Cheers,
Steve

Had me fooled.
Just proves you can't believe everything you see on the net now....*sigh*

much like circumcision when you think about it😄

bring on the 17!
The 12" would have to be much better than the 14" as I would miss that 2 inches more than I would appreciate the weight loss.

I used to wear these desert tan converse combat boots. They are said to be waterproof outers but my pair always let water in, but I didn't care because your feet dry super fast in them, like within an hour. Ever your socks. I will be buying another pair in the spring because they were super comfy and I think they would probably work well with my bad Achilles tendon. Here are some other Converse models as well.
I definitely would not wear these in areas where you have to wear snake guards as they will NOT give your feet any protection against a snake bite.
I was given the first pair basically brand new by a bloke who decided they were too uncomfortable.
Reasonably comfortable for me but geez do they make my feet sweat! So much so that my feet end up the same colour as what ever sock I was wearing that day due to the dye.
also the zip ends do signal on my 7000 but not a problem if you know they are there.

Did you by them here in WA? If so what brand are they if you don’t mind.
I wear thongs a lot but the Double-Gees here go right through them and nail them to your feet. They look like they’d do the job

Boy, finding where to hunt legally at Rye Patch sounds about as complicated as trying to figure out detecting rules from state, to county, to city! If i ever get to get out there with you all, please make sure we are legal! Jail or bullets are not my idea of a fun trip!!🤠👍👍
With gold Joe, don't rely on others. YOU make sure YOU are legal.

I had a choice between yellow and yellow...so it was a no brainer, I went with yellow.

Black Lighting at night in your SxS looks fun !!! Finding Gold even better !!!!! Wish I was coming down this winter but border, covid, and election year just didn't need extra stress.... Even sold my 6x6 while in Quartzite last winter & bought a new 2020 Can-Am Commander 800R just for navigating deserts. Seats 2 really comfortable & has a decent size dump bed for gear or glow in the dark rocks.... Fits on all 4x4 trails ( so far ) So if you stop in at Gold Diggers tell everyone Hi !!! for me & I look forward to seeing all next fall !!!! I'm already getting bored at home !!!!! Gonna be a long 6 months !!!!! Lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a forum member start ringing and emailing me 3 months before his annual trip to the gold fields, carried on like the friendship was more important than the gold. Every conversation included how we must go detecting together.
When he arrived I put him up at the homestead for the night, if I recall correctly I provided dinner for him and his wife. Again, he emphasized how we must go detecting together.
The next day I escorted them 60klms across the station, found them a camping spot then popped him in my vehicle, drove him about pointing out at least 6 or 7 spots where I had found gold as well as a number of spots I thought worthy of a try. Again, we must go detecting together.
Called in a few times over the next couple of weeks to make sure they were okay (elderly couple) each time telling me we must go detecting together.
One day I called in and said I've got a few hours to spare and brought my detector with me, how about we go detecting together.
" Please don't take offense Steve, but we just found 3 little sub grammers and it might be the start of a patch so we'd rather keep it to ourselves"
It was on a spot I pointed out to them!

Thanks mate, I was after a 50" and was looking for an RZR in the 570 but nothing available until next year due to covid.
I just committed to a Can-am Maverick trail 800, unfortunately will suck a bit more juice than your 570 but should get me a few more places than my Perentie or Landcruisers will get me.

That’s the same with most mining companies here. They don’t want your gold, they want your knowledge.
They are not interested in what we find just where we found it. They actually have no right to what you find....it’s yours.
We are removing a lot of surface indicators, think of yourself as part of thier exploration.
In WA you can access a lot of mining company held ground via a 40E permit system and you are obliged to fill out a return form which includes what you found and where.
Unfortunately the compliance is about 1 in 10, hence mining companies are jacking up and things are getting tougher.
I love that article though, that akin to finding 3 coins on the beach so obviously there must be buried pirate treasure near by.
