  1. This morning I woke up with a start of a cold and nearly didn't get up . I had updated my Nox to the 1.7.5 and wanted to give it a try . I was going to take my ET but as it was raining I thought better not . So at around 7.45 am I got a Bus to the beach and when I got there the tide was in and it was rough . I had other things to do so I did them and at about 11 am I got to the beach and started to detect. I immediately got my feet wet . So my cold will be double Man Flu by morning tomorrow LOL.

I started to find a slow but steady trail of coins below a cut and I covered about a mile then turned around and went back in case . I found on the way back 3 rings together . I think its a Russian design . Found a Gold one a few years ago . This one I think is Silver but I need to get it checked.

After finishing the beaches where I searched , I went to another beach to the East and a few more coins came up , but not many . I found a US Dime and another large coin of some sort with a hole in it . And a 50 Euro Cent . After walking another mile and feeling knackered I went to a shop and bought some food and headed home .

My total was £32.77p , the ring and the 3 foreign coins .

I found out about the version 2 update so that's been done now for next time.

Most of the time I use my ET , its easier for the beach . I just know the targets better . But the Nox has its place and did well today.

I wont be out till the end of next week now . Its going to be wet most of the time and I am working anyway .

Also today I reached a target I was aiming for the year £1400 so I will pay a donation of £200 to Cancer research at the end of next week . Total coinage for the year so far is £1425 and Pence. Way down on years gone by but its now getting pretty cashless out there and in a few years it will be baron for coinage unless a storm opens up the beach .

So far I have had 12 Gold rings (1 return) 1 Platinum (return) , 1 Gold Pendent (too be checked) and 36 Silver rings this year . Plus a few other Silvers ranging from chains to ear rings and things .

You are not alone in your common misconception regarding the frequency components of Multi IQ.

Those are the single frequency selections for the Equinox 800.  No more, no less and do not necessarily have anything to do with Multi IQ.  It has been shown through spectrum analysis of the coil transmitted output, that those frequencies likely do not correspond to the frequencies that are transmitted during Multi IQ operation.  It looks like probably only two frequencies are transmitted simultaneously during Multi IQ operation, and neither of those appear to correspond to any of the above frequencies.

See this thread for more info and links to other related threads.  The issue is complex and ML has not been transparent about the nature of Multi IQ likely to protect their intellectual property (which conveniently enables them to be vague about the specifics).  They have also caused confusion and propagated the 5-frequency Multi IQ mythos through pseudo technical jargon and diagrams that appear to conflate the above single frequency settings with their Multi IQ spectrum cartoon diagrams.  As a result, the issue of frequencies that comprise Multi IQ is pure conjecture.  IOW - no one but ML knows the answer and ML is not saying.

That is the same as I have heard about FBS. 2 at a time. Might as well stay with ET.

  3. I did my update to 1.7.5 yesterday . Wont be out with the Nox for a while. Too busy hoovering up with the ET which has got better Target info. Gold number 12 yesterday for the year. 3 for the Nox and 9 for the ET .

The Nox is best when not having to rely on target info as much.

  4. I like and i dont like .

I like it is multi frequency . I like the stem , though would prefer straight stem.

    I like the coils .

    But ,

I dont like the colour . Though the cover is black , why not the box?

I dont like 1/8 inch socket for headphones , and Bluetooth gets interference in high electrical areas on my beaches . I used my Nox 2 weeks ago on a field with pylons and the only way to stop the noise was to put into single frequency , I thought they were obsolete ! . I have heard of issues with the Bluetooth headphones on the Vanquish disconnecting with the machine , that happens on my beaches with the Nox . Is there a module ? If not then can we plug in adapters for our own headphones ?

There doesn't appear to be many settings and as said above the segments might be too few , fewer than the Terra 705 ? And will the coins be all in one small area like they are on the Nox ? Except for the Pound/2 Pound coins .

There are other things to do with settings but they have been mentioned above .

On the whole , i still want to see one . But for me i can see it not being what i want . Something my dealer said to me when we first heard about a new machine coming .

There are other machines coming too , i have heard of the Simplex as we all have . I have heard of a new Nokta/ Makro multi frequency but is that true ? And now i have seen a video about a new C. Scope called the Evo 6000 . That will be interesting , they haven't brought anything new out in Donkey's years . And the Evo in the video was seen in the surf ! Single or multi freq ?

Looks like 2020 might be an interesting year for detectors !

Yep.  Well that vulnerability is unlikely to change on Vanquish, too. That is when the hardwired phones option comes into play.

Regarding ML competing with Simplex and the future of low cost detecting equipment, it is pretty clear that both Nokta/Makro and ML are going after the low cost detector market now dominated by Garrett's Ace series detectors after they have both disrupted the mid-range sector dominated by the AT series.  Also, for detectors in general, Steve made a good case for why it doesn't make sense for detector manufacturers to not make waterproofness a standard detector feature going forward in this post.

We'll see what pops this fall.  It is fun speculating in any event and will be exciting to see what gets released.

In the mean time, Nuke, enjoy that Xterra you just got and hope some gold soon glimmers in your scoop.  Cheers and Happy Hunting.

Going by what i see on the video it doesn't have hard wired phones.

Your right about Minelab and Nokta going after Garrett , I think Garrett might be on a sticky wicket and in the crossfire .

I didn't buy a Terra , I bought a second E.Trac . The best coin hunting beach machine in the World . Easy to set up , perfect or close to target info , and with the RNB battery as long lasting as a Nimitz class Carrier's reactor LOL.

I had £22.88p last night on the beach but no gems . Tides are a bit short and the sand doesn't show till long tides. Didn't I see just how bad its getting though , the amount of people on the beach it should have been a bonanza . Instead it was very nearly quiet everywhere . Like money hadn't even been invented. Baaaad.

I don't think the Vanquish is going to be waterproof , I don't think Minelab saw the Simplex coming or maybe was to far down the road to change much . Too fixed on Garrett . I think also only the 540 Pro will get the headphones but hopefully with a standard sized control box it will have a quarter inch socket . Then the Gray Ghosts are good to play on.

I did say "implied" and clarified my edited post and agreed that water hunting does not necessarily equal waterproof, but again, based on where industry is going, I think there would be significant backlash if Vanquish did not at least keep up with Simplex in that regard.  So, to the point, I don't think anyone can make the definitive statement that is "isn't going to be waterproof", either.

Also, some information in the vids has frankly run counter to some of the early information that was being fed to you by your original "source", so I am less inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.  For example, it was originally going to be a replacement for the Excal/Sovereign, then it was going to be an Xterra replacement and then 3 models with Flex IQ but with it clearly being Multi IQ based (the Multi IQ logo is in the video) like Equinox, I doubt it etc.  So the  "inside" info you have been getting is all over the map.  Perhaps intentional by the source to keep the mystery going...or they don't actually know.

I do, however, hope it fulfills the gap you have been looking for on Target ID, but doubt it will solve your Equinox EMI problem if it is Multi IQ-based.

It is all speculation at this point and I am not lending any credence to sources (I have my own too) or spreading rumors other than what ML has put out there and what Steve has posted on his Vanquish info page.   We really won't know until the specs and pics are published and then again, until someone has a video of a prototype or early production model in action.  Cheers.

I dont think it has to worry about the Simplex. The Simplex is single freq and wont work well in the salt unlike the Vanquish that might well do.

As for the idea of the machine being the replacement for the Excal/Sovereign , that was mine. Not from a source.

As for the I.Q. its not that thats doing it , its the WM08 /Bluetooth , that i am sure . Its always dropping out on the top dry areas close to the pubs and clubs . Anyway the ET handles those areas .

Coin AND RELIC.....hmmm....if that face plate photo is accurate, gone is gold mode, so it's an EQ600?

Does it share coins with the Equinox?

    Interesting times ahead!

Its not meant to be a Gold machine in any way other than finding rings .

Think X.Terra in another control box and coil .

I hope its like the Terra on coins and other targets , the Nox is vague at best on i.d. of targets .

Anyway i found a mint unused condition 2010 ET last week and bought it for £425 (UK) after selling my older (£650) of 2 Nox's . Its just far superior on targets . The Nox has found a few Gold rings and many Silver rings and around £1000 so its paid for itself . Its just so limited on some of my best beaches due to EMI and difficult target i.d.  Beaches dont wait , tides keep moving in and out and targets can be lost when held back by having to dig all . The ET , you can Cherry pick and score a very high success rate . Land is different . So far i have had 6 Gold , 1 Platinum and some Silvers and quite a lot of coinage with my ET's this year . Not as much as in the past as the cashless society is killing coin hunting , or at least fresh losses .

2 ET's is better than 2 Nox's . Unless my Nox drowns or croaks in another way .

Bearing in mind the Vanquish isn't waterproof , may or may not work in the salt wet , red . I wonder if it will have a place in my inventory? I might steer clear of this machine for a while . My Guinea Pig costume can stay in the closet for now.

Not so sure color is high is as high on every detectorist's list such that it would cause a market share shift, quite frankly.

Coloring aside, the Simplex might be a better bet for you as it will be more different than the Equinox than I anticipate will be the case for the Vanquish.  You have always felt that the Equinox lacked some of the magic the Xterra possessed.  From what I can tell, the Vanquish will be an economy version of even the 600, so it might be a set up for dissapointment for you.  Going the Nokta/Makro route might be a better path to fill in the gaps where Equinox is appatently not making the grade for you.  Though I wish I had 1/10th the success with mine you appear to have with yours beach hunting.

I have found a bit with mine but it just isn't versatile enough on target I.d. and EMI causes issues.

Not sure of the Simplex. Might get the Anfibio. But I want to see the Vanquish before I buy it , if it does on the dry beach as well as the Terra I will be happy and if it works in the salt wet too it won't be a downgrade . It could be seen as an upgrade in a way. But who knows .

You mean that image from the Russian site that makes stuff up as clickbait? Absolutely, it must be the real deal! Either way it’s ok, now it’s clickbait here

This image looks like the video we have seen , both are red . Whether its just click bait i don't know but it does look right . I just hope that if there are 3 machines "340 , 440 , 540" that the machines aren't all red . If they are i am thinking that Nokta/Makro might take Minelab share . That Simplex looks good .

I am tempted myself on both or even buying the Anfibio instead or as well.

I was told a week ago by someone in the hierarchy that he thinks there will be a few casualties in the next few years . Tesoro might be only a start of a thinning out .

Fantastic recoveries Nuke em and some special ones too.  Do you mainly hunt in the wet sand or are you a guy who likes to be in the water all day?  Show us a few beach photos on occasion so us Yankees can see how your beaches look.

Always wise to hear of someone returning a ring to its original owner.  It brings so much Karma back to you down the road.

    Keep it up.

I do all the beach from slightly in the water to the very top of the dry beach. It is very unlike most beaches , it is mainly stones / shingle and very low down sand at extreme low tides. Most of my stuff comes from the between tides now. The cashless society has killed the tops. It will be very soon that i wont find coinage except old that gets exposed from many years back.

I help people if they come to me but if i find rings on my own i class them mine. Its practically impossible to find owners . Most of my rings have been there for months or even many years . Many owned by travelers .

I will look at pictures another time .

But here is what i found last night . No rings , just more old coinage mostly . £37.59p . From 12.30am to 5.45am over a mile and a half , again with my ET.

    51) £37.59p FOUND 14-08-19 ET.JPG

  11. Over the last few days the beaches have been building up and the tides getting shorter but i have had some more success even if it was limited in the areas i search .

I used my ET on these occasions due to needing very good target info and not having time to dig all the trash which i know is trash .

On the 6 the August i only found £15.34p and another coin . I was back to work for a few days then i went on this last Saturday night after work for a few hours and found over a mile stretch £39.46p and a Silver ring and 1 Euro 60 Cents and a US 5 Cent and not long before i finished a 18k 3g Gold ring . Thats 10 for the year so far and 6 with the ET / 4 with the Nox (including 1 return + 1 Platinum return by the ET too) .

Last night "12 August " i went again but the weather was not as good with rain coming but i stayed for the time i needed and found another £33.12p and a Spirits flask which i have cleaned out and will keep .

So far on 50 trips i have had £1254 and Pence , 1 Platinum (returned) , 10 Gold (1 returned) and 33 Silver rings and a few other Silvers including 3 Chains .

This may sound a lot but in years gone by the amount would have been twice as much in coinage by now . The cashless society has killed the fresh losses mostly and i will be lucky to find even this total in future . There is a lot of old stuff still about and that is what i will look for when its about . But as you see from the pictures i am finding little fresh finds . Thank goodness Gems cant go Gemless ! I hope.

My next trip might be Wednesday or next Sunday.
