  1. This is simple and very useful advice.  With the Equinox detectors, this was a weak point, in many cases the detector got soaked there.  With the D2 I didn't think this would be a problem as the machine is water resistant to 20 meters.  But it's better to prevent trouble, it's true.  I will also cover the D2 speaker.

  2. The small coil would be great for diving between rocks and littered freshwater beaches. I was hoping it would be more sensitive to gold chains. It would also be great for traveling, I would definitely buy it if it were released. I almost only use a small coil on the equinox.

  3. As a water hunter, I would like to comment on the subject. I mainly research in freshwater lakes. There are many beaches in these lakes where a lot of garbage and other objects have been piled up in layers for many years. There are also places where the soil is strongly volcanic, clayey, or muddy, etc.. It is a great madness to hunt in such places, because it exhausts the mind the many signs close to each other. Meanwhile, you are sure that there is gold among them. Separation is very important here, as objects mask each other. This year I went with deus 2, usually I dig between 30-50-80 useful signals almost every time. Sometimes I took out a couple of nice rings or other smaller pieces of jewelry, necklaces or pendants. The accuracy of digging is also quite difficult, as many signals can be caught in one swing. The fact that the water is up to your chest or neck doesn't make the situation any easier either. The point is that last time on a beach with the same problem (in the water, of course) after the Deus, I took out the Equinox with the elliptical small 10x5 Coiltek coil and I was able to dig and separate the signals much more precisely. I found the first gold chain among a lot of garbage, which I was very happy about.
I hope the next XP release will be a small elliptical coil like the white deus I coil.

let the battery go completely dead, then reconnect and try to update

Fortunately, it was solved. On another computer, after several attempts, the connection was not lost. I think the cause of the problem is the poor quality USB connector on the transmitter. All my cables are very loosely connected. 🤞

Most likely the headphone unit is frozen, wait a few days (usually up to 2 days) until the battery runs out, then charge it. It should work. Or as an option is to disassemble and reconnect the battery (just remove the battery plug and wait a few minutes and then put it back in)

I fallen is same situation, the update screen still on my ws6 puck, the USB connection disconnected when the update erase the puck.

...I now run it with stock settings, default sensitivity and auto-GB. I've learned to hear the deep/faint targets between the interference from the dive unit. I can now easily find small rings and pendants, though it does still struggle punching through the iron ground sometimes. I've had a lot of recent targets in sandy areas and haven't had a problem picking them up at about 10-14" under sand. ..

I'm glad you got a feel for the machine. You didn't write which program you use in the water when you dive with the Nomad? Fresh or salt water?

  7. I read the topic, it was very informative, thanks for the information. beers.gif
I am looking for a pointer for diving and snorkeling that has metal discrimination capabilities. It can be a big help in low visibility conditions in fresh water, where there are usually a lot of iron pieces. Another important point is to be sensitive to small gold objects. I use the Nokta Pulsedive, a very good, robust device, but unfortunately quite weak for small objects, at least for gold. The Nokra Makro pointer is much more sensitive, but weak in salt water. I don't know if you used the two pointers mentioned in the topic in salt water, what is your experience?

  8. I don't think there would be any problem underwater with the external battery connector. A higher frequency head for the deus 2 would be interesting.

I did a small table test, but in combination with wet soil. The test item was a piece of 14K chain weighing 1.5 grams and a hoop earring (0.6 gram). The ID number in the air was chain: 31, earring: 39
When placed on the ground, the chain is 26-28, buried 4 cm deep it is already solid 25, or an iron sound. This depends on the set program. I recently found an 18g stainless steel chain in water, a solid 25, but it was a wide, long signal. If you use the NOTCH function, it greatly reduces the chance of finding a gold chain.

  9. The experience of the last few weeks in freshwater hunting is that the deus 2 is very good for small gold objects. Several pieces of earrings have already been dug up from fresh water, the smallest weighing 0.5 g, all open type, so they were difficult targets. With the Beach Sens and Sensitive Fulltone programs (the latter with pitch sound).
Gold chains.. well, this is a more difficult topic, I am testing it in the field, but there are no satisfactory results yet.

  10. I tried this square wave sound in combination with the Picth mode on the Beach sens program, in fresh water. It helped me very well to locate the target. It was also a great help in determining the size of the objects. It saved me a lot of time.  mds.gif

    13. The Beach P program is practically the same as the Bech program, but does it put the sounds in Pich mode? Or are there other changes, for example in the frequencies? shrug.gif

Yes it should of come with the detector!!!  ( yes!)

But an 8" cable would not work in my case. Tony makes all my cables 28" long so I can keep the connection to headphones out of the splash zone. That 1/8 jack is not even water resistant.

The jack connector will not be damaged by splashing water. I'm almost sure, I hunted in water with the Deus 1 for years, the 3.5 jack connector on the waterproof case is no better and no worse than this one. I'm going to test it with my good old KillerBee's headphones wading in water. The BH headphones are very good, but I prefer closed headphones when I'm just wading in the water.

    ------------

I tested it in a bucket of water for an hour, there is no problem, the headphones work perfectly with it.
The remote control and the connector were submerged in the water.
So for those who hunt wading and like to use closed headphones, this adapter is the perfect solution.

  12. I am glad that such a good conversation has developed on the subject.
I hope soon real results will show what this detector can do.

Finding the chain in the salt water environment is the hardest, for sure. But there are also a lot of lost chains and small pieces of jewelry in freshwater. Rings and coins and silver are the first targets to be found. My own experience when I run out of rings from an area. With a good machine like the white HF coil on Deus, the smaller targets and chains come in line. This is also due to the fact that in the absence of signals, I search much more focused for small targets. Here in Europe, I cannot find heavy silver coins in the water, unfortunately. Even a smaller chain brings good grams to the kitchen.

  13. I really hope so! I have high hopes for this machine. In fact, I would be very pleased with a gold chain, open earring comparison test. D2, D1, Nox etc.
Equinox in freshwater wasn’t a real player for me, no matter how much energy I put into it. In my three years of use, luck couldn’t have escaped me that much. I regularly found similar items with DEUS 1 (earring, studs, bracelets, chains). When the HF coil came out on the market, this hit rate jumped up spectacularly.
I would expect the same from this machine. If Deus 2 would handle heavy mineral soils better than the previous version. Maybe it would work well in mineral mud or black sand beds.

  14. Unfortunately, it wasn't my machine, I could only play with it for 15-20 minutes. (I hope to test with my own machine soon)
The test objects, small size 14K 1g children's ring, 14K, 1.3g thin gold bracelet folded into a U-shape about 7 cm long, 14K 2.3 g thicker, but hollow gold chain approx. 7cm long, with a buckle on one side.
I tried General and Beach and Deus Mono. With the Deus mono program, it detected the test lacs at a higher frequency but no better than the deus 1 with the round HF coil. I laid the objects on a heavily clayey sandy soil, adjusting the soil balance on the machine. I looked at the manual, where can I find a mention of the air test? I haven't found it yet.

  15. Calabash Digger: Thank you for your time and work on behalf of the detector community!
I love watching the test videos you made!

What I think a lot of people are curious about is the small size of the hard-to-detect gold objects that work on the machine. In a saltwater or freshwater environment. Open earrings and gold chains are among the hardest targets. Deus 1 worked very well in freshwater against such targets, he was a true champion.
Equinox did not live up to my expectations. I only tested the Deus 2 with an air test, but it performed very poorly by default. I’m a little worried that the machine won’t be efficient enough to detect these objects.
Who cares about coins when hunting on the beach, where jewelry is the number one destination. Exactly the jewelry that other hunters are unable to find. 🙂
