  1. Chris, I am with you on the Racer Gold set at 30khz, I would like a modern replacement for my GB2, with more options to use, screen iron id, vdi numbers, lighweight, auto gb, etc. So far no one has approached the GB2 for tiny gold in hot ground, but maybe the Racer Gold will do the trick. I got buddies that work hardrock for vein gold, they have tried every new vlf gold detector that comes along for tiny gold, nothing works for them but the GB2 so far chasing tiny vein gold looking for pockets.

Steve, super nice review of the Makro Racer, nice pics.

  2. I only run the smallest coil 6x3 and have good success, less mineralization to the detector, in real hot ground run the sensitivity down to about 5, doesn't hurt target ability, tighten up your threshold if its real noisy, get used to changing the ground balance often in  hot ground, it varies sometimes ever few ft, keep your thumb on the fine tune gb, you will get the hang of it fast enough. I run both switches down, and flip up to the iron id to check targets once found. If you get out of low mineral position or out of boost then you hurt the machines target abilities.  Its a great little machine.

  3. From what I have seen on forums in the USA and Australia, and pics of the finds, and stories recently, I would conclude that the SDC2300 can do better than the 705 on the tiny nugget hunting down to half grainers, and from what nuggets I have seen found in Chicken Alaska found with the sdc2300, it does very well on larger gold as well, 1/2 oz-3/4 oz etc.. Not looking at the cost of the machines but performance I would lean heavy to a sdc2300 over a 705 if I was comparing only the two detectors. I have a gpx4000 and a gb2 and a MXT, and am very happy with those and don't feel I need a sdc2300.
