I'm in Northern California and yes, that is my experience up here. Our soil is all over the place, to the point that VLF's can be pretty much useless in certain areas due to mineralization. I ended up getting a PI and the difference was unbelievable. The PI won't see small gold nearly as good as the VLF but at least you're looking for gold and not digging up hot rocks and ghost signals!

Ya can't fool me. That's a picture of a big wash tub with about three ounces in it. So fess up and tell us where you found it.
If only that were true sir lol. .53 grams total.

We had a heck of a winter in NorCal, I've yet to be able to get up to the higher elevations to prospect due to snow but am going to try again this weekend. The creeks are still running higher than usual though and I expect they'll continue to until around August.

Great story, thank you for sharing.

Nice nuggets and very much enjoyed your story, thank you for posting.

My only experience with something like this was when my son, using a GPX, got a nice signal in some slate in a dry creek bed. His detector sounded off on every pass over it, my TDI SL gave a slight whine every third or forth pass. At about 5"-7" he found the target, a tiny piece of tin from an old can.

Very nice sir, congrats!

Hi Cleggy, welcome to the forum.
The first thing I would try is a factory reset then setup using basic settings. The owner of this forum, Steve Herschbach, has instruction here:

I think you made a very smart choice in joining a local prospecting club, they can be a lot of help.
Good luck out there and be sure to let us know how you do!

Very nice find, congrats sir!

I had to return my less than a month old GM1000, it was rebooting every few minutes without user input. I contacted Minelab via email and had a response that day. Over the next few days we went through some troubleshooting steps, when those suggestions did not help I was told to ship my detector to them and a shipping label was provided. Due to the detector being less than 30 days old they did a replacement rather than making me wait for repair. I had heard the stories of how bad Minelabs customer service used to be but it does appear they have made significant improvements!

They say it is part of their new security.

Watch a few more of your videos last night and enjoyed them, thank you for taking time to do and post them. You folks find some nice gold!

Maybe Dennis is just getting warmed up?

Steve Herschbach has created a phenomenal section with detector reviews. Be sure and scroll through it and see if any peak your interest.

Outstanding gold sir, congrats.

13 detected pieces of gold in 1.5 hours, that is awesome sir. Congrats on a great weekend and look forward to hearing how the NOX and GPX do as well!

Congrats on your purchase sir. I wanted a 24k but circumstances led me to get the GM instead. With what I've read and seen on the 24k I don't think you could go wrong with either machine, both are great detectors.

Enjoyed the video Jeff, thanks for posting.

Great find, congrats sir.

Yea, that is a shame too. There was some good info on there.
