Hi Lunk, its still out there in whatever shape the earth decides. It shows in a well bashed area that if you are prepared to take the time and shift fallen branches and boulders then get the coil close to the surface you can get a fabulous surprise. Also I appreciate the strength of the arm assembly and coil of the 7000 which takes the punishment given out reaching under the tough prickly shrubs. Cheers sturt

Hi, i wanted to include some finds in with yours. I just got back yesterday from a short trip out to WA goldfields to give you a comparison of what can happen between different years. Shows how easy it is to miss a target with different machines. The first photo is from mid 2017 of a find with my 5000. Top of the world and sent off photos to the family etc. as you do.

I think was about 3.5 grams.

Last week went back to the same location. You will note the ground is much dryer, a bad water season. I used my Z7000 this time and picked up a 2.07 gram piece shaped like a bent nail. Its on the top of the coil. The location is within a meter from the last find. Would love to have a 1.5 ton excavator to scrape of the soil cover. You can see the hard rock which drops down to the creek level and all finds have been on the top of the rock level and all look long and skinny in shape. Plenty of nuggets still to find I think.

The next photos show a find the next day which blew me away. A different creek that has been well worked over and plenty of pieces found over the years. This shows how important to move fallen timber although these branches where not large. The 7000 gave me the reversed signal tone. My settings were high yield the difficult due to the hot rocks etc. Cheers sturt

Nice looking weather. Just looking at the soils in the photos. Totally different from over here on West side of Australia. Keeps your detector looking new. Our red dirt gets everywhere. Nice finds, cheers sturt

Just dont drop it you might break the battery off.

Potential purchasers of the new 6000 (when it gets here) will need to be careful how they throw it around, because the feet at the rear of the detector comes off the battery cover, cheers sturt 

It seems to me a joke that distributors in Middle East have the product, show it on the net. But give no real technical information on the performance. Is that a competition problem with the area between distibutors?

Dont ML have confidence in there Australian Distributors in keeping secrets prior to rollout? Well they blew it over there. 

What is stopping ML from releasing the info we need. Must be doing some damage around the world on existing second hand and new detector sales. cheers sturt

Well done. Great find. Great start to the year. This is not the way to start the year. I wondered a couple of years ago how did the old timers miss this big piece. Right next to some old diggings. The noise of the machine was fantastic. It was the hottest time of the year and produced lots of sweat. Lucky nobody was with me at the time as I had to vent my spleen. A very good point. Sharp rocks hitting the battery cover are a real issue. You only need to drop the detector once to loosen the clip on slide. What would ML reaction be to warranty?  cheers sturt

Just looked at the new video of the 6000 on you tube. Looks to me the terminal layout for the coil supplied is three pins across the bottom and two higher up? Its been a while since I had a 5000 but i`m sure the 5000 series coils have a circular pin set up and the adapter can only couple one way?

I take it that all the earlier made coils suitable for the GPX series are not usable? check the video yourselves, cheers sturt

Hi all. Been out there for a few years now picking up the bits that your lucky enough to walk over. The other day I was up early and on an area that I have been over before. Thought I will give it another go. Nothing found by me in the immediate area before. Tuned up the 7000, adjusted the harness for comfort and proceeded to swing the coil. 7.16 am exactly. Walked I think 11 steps and the machine went of its dial. Bloody piece of junk I thought but stopped and scraped the surface looking for a piece of steel, then I saw it. I take it that everyone has found their dream piece and remembers the thrill of the moment. The blood rushes, the veins expand, the hands shake, bad language starts and you hope your heart can take it. To me it was a monster, and now that urge to get back out in the scrub swinging the detector again is even worse. I then spent two days searching the area in a well planned 200 meter radius and found nothing. Not even a boot nail. How can this be possible? The saying that gold is where you find it seems true. Planning another trip as soon as possible, cheers sturt

Yes, all okay. Just thought some people might like to see it in action. Looking pretty, attached to a nice gleaming brand new 7000. Should see all the huge nuggets it found. ( that show is getting way out of hand). Must have been quite a few Months back because someone mentioned a gold price some months ago, cheers sturt

I noticed last Night`s episode of Aussie Gold Hunters, are using the new Z search Coil on the GPZ 7000. Looks like it works well, if you can believe what you see, cheers sturt

Thanks David. It seems to me that a few sweetheart deals have been struck between Minelab, Coiltek and NF.

NF get to supply alternative coils for the 7000 with the chip in the lead and not Coiltek. But Coiltek get to design and supply alternative coils for the 2300 with the different plug and the existing NF coil range cannot connect to the 2300 without a plug change.  Your thoughts? 

Makes me think that Minelab had no intention of introducing alternative coils for the 7000 all along. Let someone else do all the expensive R&D for the now aging models but keep things under control. Cheers sturt

Hi all, can anyone advise if the Coil cable attachment to the SDC is the same as GPX 5 pin standard? I noticed that Coiltec have a accessory pack to adapt to the SDC 2300 shaft then use a Coiltec coil instead of the supplied unit. 

I have old coils that I would like to try out. 

Wondering what effect using another manufacturers coil would do to the product warranty also, cheers sturt

Bloody hell. Oops mind the language. Just watched the video. Its still out there. Is this ground a high mineral content? Looking at the grey colour. Where I go to is red, red, red. Not a hope of using the detector in a normal mode due to hot rocks etc. and the difficult ability to keep a good even ground balance. Anyway congratulations to the people on the ground. Had to get the heart monitor out to check the RPM. Fantastic advert for the NF coil, cheers sturt

Hi Chris. This location was and still is flogged all Winter each year. The whole area would be probably 25 Acres. There is holes 12 inches to 18 inches deep in some locations. I have spent time all over this and eventually was my reason to change over from the 5000 to 7000 series in desperation that I was missing gold.  Nothing worse than turning up to the site and find holes in spots that you have already spent hours searching around. A couple of prospectors told me that it was cleaned years ago but each year I find pieces. Now I know if I setup the 7000 properly and dont rush over the ground, the 7000 seriously amazes me what it can find. The contribution from all people on this site is so important especially JP and other professional detecting persons, cheers sturt

Hi JP.  I have experienced the same thing in an area like that which maybe a change in the season temp or atmos pressure.

Last October I went to an area that I have been all over with my 7000 before. This area has been scraped before and piled up for dry blowing a long time ago. In two days I picked up 39 pieces all small and very close to the surface, see my photos. Great fun for little reward. I have picked up in the surrounding area larger deeper pieces during the years but this blew me away as how I missed bits in such a close proximity. (check the size of the piece on the left side, would not register on the scales on its own) cheers Sturt
