Thanks, That's a nice cover.  One of the things that bothered me the most with the 4500 was being tethered to it with the cords everywhere.  It's performance is great, especially with a spiral wound coil.

My GPZ came with a 4500 battery cover like that as an optional accessory to put on it's pro swing, I was going to try learn how to sew and stitch it onto my existing GPX cover.   I was always getting the battery cord tangled up on bushes as I walked through them.

Interesting your settlings with the Stabilizer on 1... I'd never tried that.  Last time I used mine I had the gain on 15, stabilizer at 10 from memory in sensitive extra with my threshold off, man was it sensitive to shotgun pellets with the 10" spiral X-coil in that setup.  I was shocked at how well it was performing, shortly after I got the GPZ so I haven't used the GPX since although I'll still use it sometimes, I've got a great selection of coils for it and it has its uses that's for sure.   I would struggle to ever sell it, it's an old Aussie made one too, a bit wild but I've heard countless times people say the old Aussie ones are deeper but noisier.

Try with a sensitivity of 1and 3......and find real small gold.....

Nice Manny. I am not knocking the 4500. I loved mine & it found me lots of that kind of gold. I in fact I have two of them. A standard one & a modded one. I hung onto then knowing there were places I wouldn't be able to use the Zed & its 14" coil. I have a large range of coils for the 4500's. The modded one I only used once before getting the Zed & it found me a piece of gold in probably one of the most thrashed West Coast public fossicking areas in the country. Directly down the track from the carpark to the creek & its bedrock that every man & his dog would have swung a detector over the years.

Came across someones homemade wooden sluicebox stashed in the bushes beside the track

    Modded 4500 & nugget finder advantage 14 x 9 coil. I was gobsmacked.

It was jammed tight deep down in a crevice. So had been there for a long time. Not just the last flood. Of which the West Coast rivers have frequently.  The Zed just opened up my old haunts all over again & now with the 10" X coil, yet again. Despite me thinking I would still use the 4500 with the smaller coils, once I got swinging the Zed & it 14" coil I didn't go back to the 4500. It got small gold at depths the 4500 didn't stand a chance of getting. I know because I had thrashed those same spots with the 4500 & all combinations of coils over the years.

I will repeat here that I am re detecting all my old haunts & finding gold missed by my earlier detectors & coils. I haven't detected "new" ground for years. I still have a lot of my old haunts to go over.

It even discriminates well with iron targets using a DD .... I use mine with the 14x9 NF and on hot ground on RX 10 and stabilizer 1  on special Extra ....... it gets a #7-8 bird-shot at 6-10 inches .... and using the SteelPhase 01 man do they scream using an external speaker .......

I don’t think the Orx is gong to have much impact in the gold prospecting world but it looks like it’s going to be a popular option for general purpose detecting. I basically like what I see. It’s funny how it’s tempting to jump on a new model when I don’t actually need one.

It finds if you are on the correct grounds.......This is my second round starting in 2020...... Last year's finds help me buy a GPX 4500 from Rob's inventory ...... But still use the XP ORX a lot.......

I might be able to Macgyver the GPX battery holder that came with my GPZ's Pro Swing 45 onto the side of my existing control box cover.  All that would be required is a needle, thread and someone that can sew.  Then I'd just have to shorten the power cable.

I shove my old large cable on top of the machine using a regular cover....it fits....

I use a tactical backpack from Cabelas with the GPZ sliding harness attached room for 2 camel backs plus pick and a bunch of carabiners to attach anything else I want. Can send a picture later if you want to see.

Yeah man....Post a picture ...It will possibly will give me some new ideas and a new way to visualize a possible new project ......Thanks ....

Perhaps you could attach the bungee on the D ring that is on the front of the should strap. But it would not be ideal for a heavy detector. I wear a harness that also serves as suspenders and a bagpack on top of it. Not ideal. And falling down pants is a super anoying problem for me, having heavy digging tools attached on my belt including pick. Harness/bagpack/suspenders all in one would be best.

I don't use a vest or anything, I just need a nice backpack so after (6) hours of detecting to break down the 4500 and to fit the lower arm and coil in it with the entire detector, battery and pick on and in the backpack ..... and walk two hours down the mountain back to the truck......

Welp, the post from the US to NZ would be quite a bit of change for Phrunt.  Minelab versions should be readily available from Oz, though.  For a time, ML only made them available in Oz.  The mini battery is a great weight saver for short duration excursions or as an easily packable emergency backup.

Just got my Eureka Worx control box cover ..... http://eurekaworx.com/custom-control-box-covers.html
