Your video work is already a lot better than many I've seen.  But improvements are of course welcome.

You mention the Garrett headphones -- specifically the ClearSound model mating well with the MDT in terms of good audio.  Those are on-ear type and a lot of detectorists prefer over-ear.  Have you tried their MS-2 model, which is only $10 more?  I wonder if they use the same speakers or if Garrett just buys various 3rd party headphones and puts their logo on them, in which case probably not.

I have some MS-2's and for the price ($30-$35 including shipping in USA) they are quite good, IMO.  I still prefer Sunray Pro Golds (standard version and Minelab compatible version) because for one thing they fit tighter and thus block out ambient noise better.  On the downside they cost about $100 more.

    Hello!

Yes I prefer the over the ear type too for water hunting. I usually use Tony Isenhauers, though I wish they could be louder. No, I haven’t tried the other Garrett’s. I do have the SunRays, they’re my favorite land phones for 10yrs now. Can’t use them w the Tarsacci as they have 1/4 plug. The Garrett were also 1/4 but I modded it to 1/8, I don’t like using adapters. Thanks a lot!

  2. I had a awesome time at the lake today, only there 3hrs and managed to find 2 gold rings and a old Lipsproof lipstick tube from the 1920’s. The large band is 14k engraved w a wedding date of 1949, and some initials. It was only around 6”, maybe dropped this year. It was hitting 17-19 on the meter. Hopefully I can get back to it’s owner. The small 10k girls has some nice stones and it was down around 10-12”. It had a big spread from 5-25, however it sounded consistently good with no changes in tone. The lipstick tube was way down there at a foot, sounded good the whole time too. There A LOT of old iron in this lake and with the Tarsacci, I rarely dig it anymore.

  3. This is a prototype machine I acquired from Tom Dankowski many years ago. It looks just like any other 1270, until you examine the serial tag. This is a prototype that the old Los Banos Fisher had made to experiment with aluminum discrimination. The IRON disc is actually a “segmented” ALUMINUM disc that you can adjust with laser like accuracy. For example: Imagine you have your whole band of disc, from iron to silver, and you now place a magnifying glass over the aluminum portion of the disc.

Now, if you are at a site that has an excessive amount of one certain kind of pull-tab, like a new style lift top, you can now disc it out and dig just the older style pull-tabs. You can also, eliminate most pull-tabs and dig nickels and all gold in that nickel range, tipping the odds in your favor to find more mid to large size gold rings without having to dig all pull-tabs.

Frank Sanders was in touch with George up until a couple years ago. Frank was going to have a Minie Mark 1 manufactured.

Lots of talk by Frank, nothing materialized and now he's vanished from the detecting scene. Nice Fantasy.

I remember years ago on George’s forum he was actually talking about bring the Mark back again, I guess that’s what your talking about Sven.

Of course I did. Bad weather, dry hot ground and work has kept me off the playing field. A brief test produced one flat button. Hope to go out for a few hours this weekend if it would just stop raining.

Well I’m glad to hear you finally got that rain you so badly needed George! Hope your digging soon!
