There's a video on yt on how to replace the lcd screen on the pod...

I've seen partially the speaker side cause in the footage that part wasn't the interested area to film, but I think to open the curved door from the outside just to have a sight of what's under that piece...So my idea is basically to wire the negative, positive and ground desoldering it by the ruined speaker and apply a male M12 8pins on the cover to couple it with an external female on the headphones...

The transformation will appear like an Equinox headphone plug behind the control pod, to make an example...

I'm only supposing this mod in my mind, to skip the internal bridging of the two outputs...The rear end is the last part I want to open for now on my machine, Wich is turned again the most effective due to the crazy erosion I'm assisting...

Skullgolddiver, thanks for posting that I just ordered an LCD for my CTX. You saved me bucks.

It’s not water intrusion into the connector, it’s the capacitance added by the presence of the salt water on the exterior of the connector - the PI causes a hell of a spike when the current is cut off in microseconds.

    Rick,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the coil connector in a metal housing that is  shielded? If this is true as soon as the exposed shield makes contact with saltwater that will change the capacitance since it's conductive.

From what I gathered from this and previous posts, if the connector is getting splashed, in and out of the water with waves. The AQ will sense that and respond. If the connector is either totally submerged or out of the water it behaves normal, Then isolating the shield from the saltwater with  sealant might help.

  3. I wonder if this would work for the connector for the AQ. At least it wouldn't harm anything.

We used a moisture sealant on the connectors on the old Emergency Locator Transmitters in the Air Force. It worked very well and the ELT was located in the unpressurized dorsal just before the tail section exposed to adverse conditions. The sealant had very low adhesion which would easily peel off the connector and unit without any residue.

  4. I have only found a few detecting, but I have about 10 from hunting. Two of the were too worn to get any info off them. Waterfowl numbers are down and they keep reducing the bag limits, it's hardly worth going anymore. I have a pic somewhere of a double banded mallard in a non hunting area. Those had the money bands.

  5. WTG Pirate nice one. I wouldn't want to swallow any of that water after these rains.  I need to get out, it's been too long. Come on fall.

Did you save any of those Ring Daddy top five spots. I had them somewhere, but can't find them.
