  1. Back in April I was contacted by a couple making their first trip to Australia on a gold tour and suggested some coils , a Detech 8x15 DD and an 8in mono. Here is what they found.

Hi Rege, trip to Australia was fantastic in so many ways and some great gold we found ! The Detech coils worked perfectly and sniffed out 60 grams of gold ! , looking to pick up a bigger one to go deeper ! Just a few pics of what my wife and I found, regards, Steve

If you are using the Google Earth Terrain "3D" feature turn it off and your accuracy will be much better. Google Earth does not align the 3D terrain to their coordinate reference so it's essentially impossible to get  good coordinate data with the 3D feature on.

Thanks Clay for the info, will give it a try.

  3. When I and a friend try to lock on and co-ordinate the same feature on google earth our co-ordinates do not match. The variation is off about 3 minutes. Our computer settings for google earth are exactly the same but I`m not sure if we are running the same version. Any ideas?

  4. Yes I would, I am a searcher, I found my first arrowhead When I was 8.  The older kids were finding them and after searching a field for two days I found one!  Still can identify it out of the many hundreds I have since found.

I got into gold late but after sluicing and dredging the next step was nugget hunting, my first trip was to Australia where a remarkable prospector took me under his wing, put my 5000 together and taught me what to listen for, the rest is history. I will look until I can`t go any more, probably end up buying bags of pay dirt, spreading them on the asylum floor and turning my detector on.

The real gold is the people you meet and being able to introduce others to this awesome sport. I started a new guy last Nov, he is hooked and we are planning a trip out the end of March, will meet up with some old friends and meet some new ones. Can`t wait!

The clay clods can be easily broken up by pounding it with a concrete tamp. Also using a cement mixer really breaks down the clods, just throw in some big chunks of iron stone or granite with the material.

I was wondering if some kind of pre treatment of the dirt would help to dislodge the clay, maybe some kind of vibration chamber or trommel with some rollers inside.

  6. Although my hearing is good I have a pretty good case of Tinnitus, and the bugs are always buzzing in my head! I have learned to not listen to them along with the other voices that are trying to influence me LOL.

I think that what I am trying to discover is some way of knowing that a target is there without relying on my hearing. There has to be meters that would pick up these variances in the threshold much finer than my ears are able to hear the variation.

If these machines will pick up emi and lightning at a distance surely they are sensing more than our ears can discern. We just need to find a way to visualize these sounds.
