    Hi ,

What about the tarsacci vs the deus in your field ?  one better than the other ?  thx for the infos  ...

Both machines do well in the good soil. I bought the tarsacci for the bad soil. But used it where I’ve hunted with the deus in my local fields. And was very impressed with the target separation in the iron.  I pulled 8 colonial buttons from an iron patch that many of us had already detected. The 12 inch coil is a beast in that scenario.

I am curious to see how ground moisture affects the performance of the MDT. I am hoping more will actually be a benefit. It is very dry here now & hard digging past 5-6 inches.

Most all detectors will perform well with good ground conditions….that is if the operator knows how to detect with the machine. Lol…. I love detecting in the moist soil! Targets sing!!!

Have you had a chance to hunt that Red dirt some more? What is the GB & what settings have you found to work well. Any Iron to deal with? I have a MDT 8000 that should be here tomorrow to run in my East Texas Red dirt sites.

No. Long summer. But fall is coming and the fields are opening. Will be able to get back out there with the tarsacci soon.  The tarsacci loves the deep brass and works well in the iron. Target separation was awesome with the 12 inch coil.  I’ll post the settings.

  4. These are the settings I followed in the red dirt. And made some adjustments as needed. I like the 18khz.  This is a copy from another digger that used the Tarsacci in Culpeper at the DIV.

Settings were 12 and 18 KHz, threshold -2, sensitivity 7, Black Sand OFF, salt balance 44, ground balance 552 (which surprised me), Disc mode with disc set at -30. The Tarsacci with the above settings ran quiet and stable.

  5. Red dirt (relic hunting) is on hold until fall. Crops are in.  I have a 5 day hunt coming up in November that will be extremely red.  lol I’m hoping the tarsacci will find the deep targets. Around my area in VA we have soft sandy soil and the Tarsacci loves the deep brass in those conditions.  The tarsacci does very well in the iron.  Awesome target separation. I was picking colonial buttons in an area we have hit several times in the iron.  GB on this machine is very easy and it’s necessary. I found myself GB more often in the red dirt. I hope you got the 12 inch coil. It’s a great coil and the one I use.  Even in the iron.  I’ll snap shot my settings.  And post the pic.

  6. Had an invite to detect near Culpeper VA yesterday in the red dirt.  The tarsacci found this awesome Eagle button.  Have a couple hunts coming up near Culpeper in the next few months, I feel comfortable swinging the detector in the difficult soil. Will also be doing water hunts this summer.

Thanks Kelly I was really hoping you would chime in.  I had the Deus too at one time but never got the hang of it.  I’ve used the Xterra 70 and 705 a CTX F75.  The Xterra with the 10.5 DD coil has been the deepest machine I have used.  Bullets with ID at 14”.

I have bugged Aaron most of the day asking questions.  What kind of headphones are you using stock, aftermarket with an adapter or a wireless set of some kind.

How difficult is setting up the machine?

The machine is easy to set up, GB is super easy on the tarsacci.

One last question for everyone.  Does the 12” coil separate as well or nearly as well as the stock coil?

thanks to everyone that responded or at least read my original post.

I can only speak for the 12 inch coil, and I was pulling colonial flat buttons left and right in the iron, it does a great job in trashy areas and iron patches.

I am using the Garrett Z link wireless headphones. After using the deus all these years its hard to be tethered to a machine. Lol. the garretts are awesome and easy to use.

  10. I have been using the tarsacci for about 2 months, I live in Southeast VA, mild soil.  I sometimes hunt in the red dirt of northern VA. And thats why I wanted this machine. But was pleasantly surprised with its performance in the soft sandy soil here in my part of VA.  I dig colonial and CW,  I took the tarsacci to my old spots and was hitting some very deep brass. Small Rev war buttons at over 12 inches down. In the red dirt it was hearing the deep targets as well. I followed a friend that was using the Minelab GPX and the tarsacci was hearing the deep cw bullets as well!  I love this machine and have no regrets on buying it. I swing a DEUS as well, but the tarsacci is the one I reach for now.  The target separation is awesome!!

  11. No pics to show, but I did a video, can’t upload it to this forum. But I wanted to say the one reason I wanted to try the Tarsacci was I heard it might be doable in the red dirt of VA.  I have a friend that lives near Culpeper and she has a test garden. Items have been in the ground for about 5 months.  The tarsacci heard the targets at different depths with no issues.  I love this machine and will use it at the upcoming hunts this fall in the red dirt!  The deus struggled and only heard a few targets in the same test garden.

Just got this machine, so i just wanted to take it out in the yard i have hunted for 4 weeks with the XP ORXand DEUS , after digging some tabs , which amazed me as i had been over this spot , and not just one but 6 targets i missed then i find the sterling Military pendant at 7" deep . I did not dig one Iron item, but i could hear iron .  all i can say is this machine is different and its good ,very good .  in 5 minutes this machine pulled out the 1st silver from this site.
