Yes, yours was from the second batch my dealer received, it seems only the very first batch had the problem.  Shipping from NZ to USA seemed to go smoothly and quite quick for you  The first batch I'm talking about appear to be a small very first batch Coiltek made, they only went to Australia and NZ it seems, all other's seemed to get a later batch where they'd made the hole the right size.

I imagine the very first batch with the problem was quite a small batch.  That's the punishment I get for being an early adopter I guess 😉

Shipment from this NZ dealer was faster than some domestic transactions I have made.  I was quite impressed!  I would have been in the same boat as you, had the coils been readily available.  I paid a bit of a premium for this coil, but couldn't be more pleased.

For me, pinpointing with this 10X5 was much easier than the 11 inch and 6 inch, in that order.  I don't know why, but I sometimes struggled with pinpointing on the OEM coils; I had zero issues this weekend with the Coiltek.

It is a good coil, and I like it's sensitivity to small gold at the tip and tail, not near the depth of the 11" on coin size targets but you wouldn't expect it to be of course as it is a lot smaller of a coil.

I'm pleased to hear they've fixed the coil bolt issue, my 10x5" is one of the first batch and the ML bolt does not fit it.

Thanks to Phrunt, I also have my 10x5. 🙂  Depth might depend on soil conditions, because I would argue smaller coils in Oregon sometimes equal better depth than large,  probably due to soil minerals.  I used the OEM coil bolt and there were no fitment issues.

Like I said if someone wants to pay the price that’s up to them. I have trouble with it when you can’t buy one in the USA and the guy you buying from can get as many as they want .

If we were getting a shipment every so often that would be different but that’s not the case .

I really don’t care who don’t like me for speaking out . I just feel right is right and the way it’s done is not.

I was just trying to glean whether you are upset with me (can't figure out why), or the dealer in NZ (can't figure out why), or Minelab (they don't produce the coil), or Coiltek (that makes sense, although maybe they didn't predict the amount of demand there might be).  It is a capitalist endeavor, for which we all should be happy.  Minelab has a great detector and I predict this new coil will only bring that experience to the next level.  HH

Guys it’s something bad wrong with this picture.

If I was Minelab that dealer wouldn’t be selling anything that had to do with Minelab ever again.

I can’t blame the guy who is willing to pay the price to get one but I’d find it hard to believe that Minelab is okay with this.

You can just buy it from the NZ Dealer, he ships overseas.   These are what is left from his second batch, I got one from his first batch.

    https://www.dredgenz.co.nz/product/10x5-equinox-coil/

Works out about $212 USD + shipping.

He's a really good guy too, he'd sort you out.

Thank you!  I ordered one yesterday.  The total, with shipping to Oregon, was $271, a bit more than listed in the USA, but they aren't available in the USA, so it was worth it to me.  They were very nice people to deal with, as Phrunt stated.

  6. Update:  Minelab contacted me with a few questions about the headphones.  Upon answering them, they opened a case and requested I send them to a facility in PA.  They arrived there this last Monday whereby they diagnosed them as faulty.  By the end of Wednesday they had already shipped a new pair to me, which should arrive this Saturday.  THAT is outstanding customer support!

  7. Thank you all.  I  misspoke:  the red LEDs are solid (not blinking) for a few minutes and then go out; which, according to the headphone user guide, indicates a full charge.  I will attempt to find another cord to use to charge them.  I have attempted both an AC adapter on the USB charging cord and directly connecting it to both a computer and a power-strip USB port, all with the same result.

I will continue my attempts to contact ML and the Dealer.  Thanks again, all

  8. Last week,  I attempted to power on the ML 80 headphones I use with the Equinox 800.  I purchased these new in March 2019.  They would not power on.  I charged them:  the 3 red LEDs flash for about 10 minutes and then turn off, as if headphones were charged.  But, the headphones still will not power on.

I attempted to contact my dealer and ML, but neither have yet responded.  Does anybody have any novel ideas to try, or troubleshooting, remedies?  I would greatly appreciate the help!

    Thanks,

Direct offshoot of the Eric Foster Goldscan and therefore blood relative to the TDI...

Didn't know that was a relative of the tdi...guess I've had my head in the sand.  thank you and sorry.  It has piqued my interest.  I had already written that detector off....but not anymore.

They should just link to this forum and call it good!  They already do link here, and unlike Findmall and the rest I would not charge them a dime. If traffic warranted I can do the sub forum thing but with subject tags that’s not really needed these days. All it has done at Treasurenet is spread traffic out so much the forums appear dead.

What with all the lost information and down time their own forum may never really recover anyway.

This is my go to detector forum.  I rarely visit others!  Too bad White's doesn't seem to maintain theirs.  In my opinion, anybody that uses active server pages for a website (like White's)  will have issues anyway.  Ha ha.

Harvest them from a non-functional laptop battery.  There are some good articles online with instructions.  In my experience ~50% of "dead" laptop lithium ion cells are still a-okay.

I tend to key on tonally pure targets. I want lots of tones to allow things the ability to not be pure tones. Five tones artificially forces pure tones, defeating my main “tell” which is either the solidity or fluidity of the tones I am hearing. Round items tend to deliver pure tones and when doing anything but nugget hunt I tend to lean towards round items.

Are the tones similar to what one hears with the BBS Excalibur or Sovereign?   I remember being able to “hear” rings and multi-metallic objects.  I assume maybe the tones might be even more telling with the advanced tech in the Equinox!?

I wouldn't say that, there are many people including myself who have no intentions of every getting involved in social media websites like Facebook.  They're not what I would consider a go-to place for information.

Also, if you google something like "Gold Monster 1000 finds gold" you won't find any links at all to Facebook or similar sites, but you do see links to forums.

This forum is still getting thousands of hits a day, I doubt White's would be wanting their content removed off a forum, unless of course it was just showing them in a negative light compared to their competitors.

I too have resisted Facebook and other nonsense social media.   Social media seems to fall short with meaningful information, unlike a forum. This forum is my mainstay detecting forum and hopefully sites like these continue when fad sites like Facebook wane.

Actually the conductivity switch is a pain because you never know if you have used the right setting so you second guess your self all the time, So in away I think this might be a better idea, The crazy thing is I set mine to "ALL" all the time anyway, Lol

I posted a video showing how the SL is deeper than the CTX on the beach on fine Gold Rings so I think this could be a winner.

Well perhaps you are right.   I tend to use these detectors in setting other than the beach and prospecting, so those features are not a staple to most.  I definitely like the looks and have hopes White’s has hit a home run with this.  Their detectors have served me well.
