Note: if gravels are dry, loose and non-cohesive the geoprobe drilling method may not work. Samples will just fall out of the sleeves and holes will collapse on themselves.

If the gold is deposited along with black sands (magnetite), then Steve is correct (magnetometer).
There is a hydrolic push punch, track rig called a geoprobe, which could be used with a solid point to first locate the buttom (Bedrock at depth), then utilize macrocore sampler which is attached to the bottom rod, to collect samples at selected depth intervals, in an acrylic sleeve. Be sure to use a core catcher with each sleeve used, so the sample won't fall out.
Once all the sleeved samples are collected at various depths, you can pan each sample to determine gold concentrations.
This would allow to make a small stratigraphic map of the subsurface and gold concentrations in that area. A good crew could do to that area in one day! $2000/per my day.

Hmm...thanks, I will wait as well....great info!

Awesome!!......
...and thank you Steve for allowing GM to present this rare journal to us, on the worlds best metal detecting and prospecting platform!
During the winter months as you know, when there is 3 feet of snow on the ground, subzero temperatures for 3 weeks straight, Covid on the loose, can't metal detect, can't chase down nuggets, a rare journal as this, is a golden inspiration and joy to read this cold winter!

I have hunted most of my life, my wife started 4 years ago. I always find lots of stuff but from the very beginning 90 percent of the time she comes up with a great find or bucket lister! I just shake my head.
Isn't that always the way!😀

I think this is a blessing in disguise. You can use this event to build her up as a “natural”. Now you can use this as an “excuse” to sell her on your spending more time out MD’ing to refine your “subpar” skills in attempt to become as good as her at finding the goods. I recommend you run with it. 😉
You got that right! Blessings for sure😂

It's a bad idea if she turns out to be better than you at it. No good can come from that scenario...unless she begs out like Doogy's better half.
Chase, I think yur right!
Great pun on words!
