I've learned a bit about nuggets now. That site does have some beautiful pieces and some big prices. For some who are into that I can see how it is natural art. But I would still like to find something like this , currently on display at the Golden Nugget , Laughlin. Nev.Screenshot_20231119_110729_Gallery.thumb.jpg.46b20ab7794690600e79092e1900b579.jpg

Ha!  If your gonna dream, might as well dream big.

  2. These are yesterday's finds.  Ill take them from here and add it to conglomerate jewelry like channel rings and bracelets. This course wire-ess type gold brings more value and appeal to jewelry for sure. They may not be big nuggs but they still fetch a higher value than finer or even well worn gold.

Age dictates to me a need for a lightweight wireless detector that uses non-chipped lightweight mono coils. An unchipped fixed GB option 6K is on track or if ML persists with chipped coils the E2500.

Id take 6000 battery tech, and 6000 wireless capability in a 5000 all day long.  For me Im with the others GPX pro with those features.  I dont see where coil tech is gonna advance and I love the NF Evos as do most.  So get rid of the anchor of a battery ect ect ect and Id be tickled pink. Minelab are you listening?

  4. Back to the original question. It seems that the true technology stopped with the 5000, ad with a few tweaks like Micks mods  The rest is semantics and to aid in comfort for the less physical.  Things like smaller more powerful batteries, carbon shafts, better grips, waterproofing ect to increase usability   Im no techy like some of you. Im just versed enough in the field to find gold somewhat consistently. But I do read enough far and wide to see that the 5000 for serious hunters who know how to tune it correctly is the pinnacle at this point.

Because at the end of the day when chasing gold the only way to know for sure what the signal really is, is to dig it regardless of what numbers are telling you. That means digging all signals, like it has been for decades.

  6. With my 6000 I run a 36" long pick (dont gotta bend over much that way🤣) and the 6 swings easy.  With my 5000 and the battery on the side now  and a 15 or 19" coil and a swing arm. Im in the same quandry.  Im gonna re-rig my reciever, booster on a back pack now.  So Im thinking Im gonna run a shorter pick and rig something similar to what ice climbers use with loops on the side.

Good eye candy but I wish these people broadcast elsewhere and not in my part of OZ, the troubles caused to the land owners by these vids and the consequences us locals pay for such are beyond belief. I do note if they settle down up here their vids are no longer broadcast, reason being they suffer those consequences I talk about. I feel no animosity towards these people just sadness that such openness cannot be displayed without serious consequences.

Gold brings out the best in mans ingenuity, the worst in his nature.

I apologize Steve for being negative here but it needs to be said, please remove if you believe I`ve gone too far.

Im not gonna lie his videos make me want to come to Queensland. You can have WA with those damn flies even though I got a high school buddy who is a constable near Perth who swears he can get me on good gold because he spends alot of time in the bush on domestic violence calls and gold claim trespassers 🤣.  N Queensland looks right up my ally minus the brown snakes and other fun things that will kill you in minutes🤣.  I mean I hunt alot amongst grizzly bears and rattlesnakes but something about a snake that kills you in minutes is formidable.  I like his style of hunting and hes honest about the days on days of skunks.  Probably never make it though Ive got good big gold here and not alot of competition compared to other places.  On another note with gold breaking new records and economies in shambles, we are gonna see more and more people where-ever we are. Its the way gold rush's always have been.

  8. You can tell he is an animal in the bush. Going deeper, farther, longer than most can endure.  Its what it takes these days to get into that kind of gold even here in Montana. Its still out there if you do it, wish I was 25 again and got the fever then.  But Im still getting back in-country at 53.   Thanks for sharing he is a good inspiration to push harder.

In his long-winded video, he finds that there is nothing connecting the PCB to the shield, the confirmation that 2 components are replaced to fix the speaker EMI issue, the graphite paint is very patchy (and has no screen wire embedded to average it) and after doing '5 or 6', he confirms that they are all the same. I agree with him, it seems extremely odd to have only a passive shield and hope that the detector can combat EMI. Something's not right methinks....

    GPX6000 tear-down for shielding inspection

Meh I was hunting a hundred yards from a huge region supplying powerline on Saturday. Pulled two good nuggets and a load of other targets with the 6000 and the 12x7 NF.  I will admit the stock 11" probably would of got its lunch ate.  But the 12x7 handles EMI just fine in the 6000. And yeah Ive found plenty of bigger gold deep with the 6000.

Hi everyone, thanks to your enthusiastic feedback, I've got it approved with the company to release a set for metal detectors.

It will be called the NB05T, a combination of the Torus neckband speakers and the Relay Bluetooth transmitter. Both products have aptX Low Latency so they'll be perfect for finding your target accurately.

    Torus:

    Relay:

The planned MSRP will be $119.99 USD, which is cheaper than if you were to buy the products individually.

This bundle will include our existing versions of the Torus and Relay. The upgraded versions of the Torus and Relay have been suggested and should be in production soon. (Torus with more rugged design and improved battery life, Relay with longer cord options and velcro, etc.)

You should be able to see this bundle on our website and on Amazon soon.

    Thats awesome

  11. When Im at home I use a bench grinder, in camp I use a file. Doesnt have to be pretty. But a good point on the tooth and cutting angles on the hoe make life easier for sure.   Im hard on picks. But have a claim partner that has never sharpened his east wing paleo and he still cleans up. I dont like working that hard🤣. So i tend to make my hoe end fairly sharp.  Electric hand grinder works good to. I like to feel a good cutting edge on my thumb. Might wear it down quicker that way. But its gonna take some years.

Did Mick give you a date he might be done ?He has been pretty swamped.

Yeah before he leaves in mid April.  Which works good for me.   Mine and Reese's claims wont be snow free until May anyway.    Sounds like mine is one of the last he is excepting for awhile.

  13. I use a Stone Glacier Kiowa. We have to pack gear into our claims.  Buts its perfect for day trips and leaving it on whike detecting too. Narrow profile, built to last and holds all I can pack if need be.   Im gonna take it into Stone Glacier soon and have them sew on another D ring and add a couple pouches for a booster and reciever.  The company is only about an hour away from me. Great packs though.

The 6000 screams on pellets very close to the coil, and quickly loses that, even an inch from the pellet they often become mellow soft targets especially the lead pellets, the steel type hold their signal a lot deeper, the target strength dies off dramatically on lead pellets, so it can be used as a form of pellet discrimination as long as the pellets are relatively fresh ones on the surface.  Once they're have time to sink down in soils a bit all bets are off.

Congratulations on the gold.   The little guy is a nice flat bit, should get good target strength on that one.

Damn Phrunt, I wish you would tell that to my 6000,  mine loves down at least to 3 or 4" and the old buckshot sometimes deeper than that.  That being said after a couple thousand Im getting pretty good at hearing their softer peak.  Dont mean Im not digging the pesky little bastards though.

I'm debating whether to sell my gpx5000 or get mick to mod it.  I've got a modded SD2200 and would love to see a comparison between a modified SD2200 and a modified gpx5000 with the same large coil on a larger deeper target. If the results were similar I'd probably sell the 5000 and get the large  concentric X-coil for my 7000. Then again I'd like to see a comparison between the modded 5000 with similar size coil and and a 7000 with the X- coil.    Sitting on the fence at the moment. 🤔

Well, a positive update on the Nugget Finder Website, it's finally had a bit of a change, probably a concerning one for GPX 6000 owners wanting the other two promised coil sizes, they're no longer mentioned at all and no longer having unrealistic promised dates of release, the Coming in 2022, 2023 and so on for them has disappeared of course.

    Home | Nugget Finder Coils

The good news if you could call it that is the two GPZ coils, the one DDX coil, and EVO coils have now been put back onto the website after a year or so of absence, although with no information about which sizes still exist on the GPX 5000 coil range, I assume they're still making all the EVO's and the Sadie, the fields of course just for the Evolution coils but they usually just put the Sadie in there even though it's not one as it's the last of their Advantage series to survive..

I just don't get why it's so hard for them to have a decent working website, hire some school kid and pay them 50 bucks and a few pizzas while they make it, they'll have it done in a couple of hours at most.

Seems like if somebody had the capital. There is pretty wide door open to swoop in and make some progress and some $.

I'd be interested your thoughts after the mod to see if its worthwhile, seems Woody and Mick do virtually the same mods when you compare on their websites so they must be the tried-and-true methods for modding a GPX.  It seems there isn't as much they can do to a 5000 than the earlier models.

Yeah from the research Ive been doing, especially among the full time gold hunting Aussies Mick puts out a better product.  He messaged me today and said to run in Sharp but Fine gold works very well too. and take it to flogged ground we have already hit and it will tell the tale.   Looking forward to giving it a shot.
