  1. Hi all - i need new boots. My bogs tillamook boots sprung a leak and are unfortunately low top and closer to shoes than boots.

Im looking for recommendaptions on waterproof boots. Preferably tight fitting neoprene that kind of suction tight arpound your foot. I walked miles with no blisters wirh my low top bogs but want to hear what else is out there.

Im at the beach a few times a week and put on some miles!

  2. Unfortunately i was away for christmas and missed the crazy surf. Came back the 30th and stopped by the beach on my drive up. Got a gold ring right off the get go, then nada. Came out on NYE and got 5 gold rings! New years day i got 2 more gold rings. Then got out today and got a gold pendant.

I doubt I'll ever have a streak like that again but it was fun. In all i had 5 additional rings, 2 silver and 3 junkers. Also got around 15 silver dimes, one silver quarter, a clad half dollar, and around 200 clad coins, mostly dimes and nickels. Gave a few of my silvers to a kid who was detecting with his trusty bounty hunter.

  3. I like that floats. I toss it right in the water and just let it float around while i get my hookah setup correctly. I give me some peace knowing i wont drop it in really deep water and lose it. I dont feel any noticeable buoyancy while detecting with it. As mentioned by others, it is certainlythe coil that is causing it to float.

It is. SteveG's rig is made of round tubes. XP stuff isn't compatible.

There are a couple of small caveats, for total transparency. You can run the waveguide completely through the shaft, but if you do it will not shorten completely. The only way to get around this would be to drill a hole and slot out the remote mount so that the waveguide passes all the way and comes out under the remote like I did with my WS6 Master.

Fine sand gets into the larger tube which scratches the inner one. No big deal really.

A shorter waveguide such as the black one that just came out or the older Deus waveguide work great for running through the tubes.

You hit the same negatives i have. Which are all minor. I use his shaft at the beach and it is killer. The counterweight is great if your arm is prone to getting tired with the 13 inch coil.

I 100% will buy all future accessories and shafts from steve. Actually just bought a cf handle for my stavr scoop today and it was all based on Steve's superior customer service. He does great work and puts in a lot of effort to care for his customers.

  5. With 1.1 i get a ton of chirping if im not in dive mode underwater in salt. Beach p is tolerable but the others arent. 1.1 really made the machine less stable in salt altogether. Id run the 9 inch coil. The 11x13 is really hard to move underwater and that's with a carbon fiber shaft. Without the carbon fiber shaft the 13 is virtually useless beyond a few inches of water

What about the gold in this range?

As a pure beach hunter, myself. If the Deus update would put all iron falsing 90-99 I would consider this the biggest gift EVER!
This would mean I could confidently pass iron and retrieve almost all gold targets. Not trying to be critical here but 40 silver coins that come out of the ocean is not worth squat. There is no collector value of silver out of salt water. One gold ring removal would crush what 40 silver coins are worth.

I would seriously notch out this "new" iron range and concentrate on lower numbers. Am curious to see what other beach hunters are seeing for iron falsing.

The thing is, i enjoy finding old coins. Im not just a ring hunter, i really like old relics and coins. I dont sell any of my rings, i dont care about the money, i just love the history, the challenge and being outdoors.

  7. I'm predominantly a beach hunter and hunt some beaches with a ton of iron, which i believe is from the old 1800s piers. Version 0.71 had iron falsing on this large iron all over the place but the falsing came in around 78-86 on the TID. Sometimes rotating around it would give me iron but sometimes not. Because of the volume of iron, luterally thousands of pieces, i used to have a custom program to notch out that 78-86 TID range. Notching this out, i was able to pull 40 or so silvercoins from the iron by looking for TIDs 88 and up. With 1.0 and 1.1 the iron falsing at two of my beaches now comes in from 90-99, effectively making it impossible to notch out. The updates also make it dang near impossible to detect these areas with any reasonable speed because youre constantly stopping on every piece of iron because it reads in the range that coins read. In the past when not notching out iron falsing i could discriminate in my brain based on the TID and kerp moving when anything in the 80s popped up.  This effectively killed two beaches for me with 1.0 and 1.1.

Ive left it installed so i can give it a fair shot for a few weeks. Just got my ws6 puck back from getting repairs so i can get pmw audio now instead of the boners limiting me to square audio, which i despise. Before the ws6s broke, i was really unhappy with the audio changes but also had a major head cold so it could have been that. Im giving it this last weekend before reverting back to 0.71. I had zero complaints about 0.71 and really found it to be perfect for all my needs. No use suffering through some of the new issues when im mainly a beach hunter. I wish i could load 1.1 on the ws6 and switch over to it here and there when away from the beach in order to give it a fair shot.  Or if we could select which version to run at startup 😍

It's people like you that they quickly rushed out 1.1 for, last thing they want is a heap of warranty claims on WS6's.

I'm sure your account problems are a coincidence not a punishment.

I didnt push for an update, i just rolled back when it turns out they released a crappy update. If it wouldnt have roached my ws6 i wouldnt have cared because i was perfectly happy with 0.71.

  9. Website is down. I am super un8mpressed with xp rolling out this update. Not only did 1.0 literally toast my ws6 where it wont turn on. Im not able once again to get the web link to work, it just times out. Super unprofessional roll out for a bunch up crappy updates. Sorry guys, i loved 0.71 but im not drink8ng the kool aid on this. They owe their customers an apology for how crappy this execution it was.

  10. Just a heads up that when trying to roll back to 0.71, my ws6 froze and now the screen wont turn on.

I know many of you have liked the update but it has been nothing but crap for me and I'm not looking forward to buying a new ws6. Im hoping theyll warranty it but the phone number listed for warranty info says to email only.  Really sub par customer service!

  11. Hey guys. Ive been super sick with a head cold so i was delayed in getting out with 1.0. I finally went to the beach and noticed that the audio sounds WAY different to me now in beach and beach sense (pwm w 3 tones). I also noticed iron sounds different. With pwm it sounds quiet with no nuance to the sounds and i can barely hear the iron w the standard settings. I'm hoping that it is just that my gnarly head cold screwed up my hearing...

Can any beach hunters confirm one way or another if the audio on beach and beach sensetive have changed?

If it is only my ears, this really solidified for me how much i rely on audio nuances with the d2 on an almost subconscious level.
