Yes I agree. The important thing is the Indian, not the arrows. But with a good arrow you will hit the target more often.

    Completely agree.

It's equal parts attitude and aptitude, never giving up and a good location.

Well, piece 23 and 24 are out. A 2.60 gr. women's wedding ring (18k) and a large 14k men's ring (1.95 gr.) This last one came out like new, it is from 2020.

The woman's ring was about 8-10' deep. 😬

The back of a silver earring also came out. XTP is incredible...

Great StarVatrex! 2 yellow items! XTP is so sensitive....

(answering your question, I went for the Gray ghost Amphibian II. I own the 800 and Manticore, as a perfect duo. The gray ghost works great underwater because they are piezos, and that's what I needed. A little bit expensive, but it's what they are!)

Thanks, yes XTP is so...mmm.... Minelab! I have an 800 too and the adaptation was quick. I think the processor is faster, the audio is better, the mechanics are light years ahead and it is finally truly IP68. What more could you ask for?... Ah yes! A numerical identification that this drunk doesn't have...🙃

For beach hunters (we all go by ear) perfect, for the rest I have my doubts. In a Park hunt I don't use an XTP, for example.

If you want water you need piezoelectrics. Here in Europe they are made by a Polish company (LS Pelso) and they work well. They fail a little in quality of the connector and quality and length of the cable. I use some DETECTED, Ls Pelso piezos with a quality connector and cable (australian made). I have my eye on the Amphibian II too. So expensive!.

    You'll tell us, good tools!...

In my humble opinion, just as important or perhaps more so is the location, the right moment, perseverance and of course, a little luck.

The results will come, for sure.

And hours, many hours, you have to understand their language and make it an extension of your body.

    😎

If you like Silver, the XTP is your machine (and everything that comes out of Pandora is missing and everything that my wife and teenage daughter likes....).

  3. And the storm 'Ciaran' passed and the 'Domingos' has just entered Spain.

Between the two a 24-hour window.

Due to the direction of the wind, I have to take the car and travel 40 km. If you want to get Gold...

My hand is still a little sore but I'm going to go out for a walk.

I arrive at the chosen beach and it is perfect. Cleaned and washed of sand by the effect of the waves. Diving is impossible, today it's time to surf.

I change the coil for the original and connect my old ML80 wired. I'm a little rusty.

A couple of silver rings and some coins come out and suddenly on the same shore a low tone accompanied by that bell that I like...

Negative ID's (-12, -6) and some more bells (2-4) are on the surface. I'm going to take it out...

Banngggg! Beautiful slave of woman (14k) go back to yellow!

    Piece 21.

The best was yet to come, the walk had been worth it. Open mind!

I hear a powerful 36-38-32 and think it will be another pull-tab. Look how good they sound...It's a profound sign, I have my doubts, I've been there for a while and my hand hurts. I go over it again, 42-46... mmmm.

    Piece 22.

    BANG! Heavy men's wedding ring.

Almost 10 grams in a couple of hours.

    I've already reached two ounces!

    Let's go for three!

    Mucho ánimo!

I still think I'm 20 years old and I'm not. I fell on my side and tried to minimize the impact with my hands. Mistake. The right thumb was facing the other way. Painful, but I'm better now...

How you wear the Nox 900 and the choice of salt water headphones?

    Regards.

That must be some resort beach! High rent place 🤔

Always impressed by your finds, do you have competition?

Yes, I live in a small town in the south of Spain on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Summer tourism is the main source of local income. I am surrounded by hotel areas and a marina where high-level boats arrive. This summer even Georgina visited us!.

It's not just a location, I move in an area of about 100 km. and I am guided by the winds and tides. That's the key.

Of course I have competence, in Spain there is severe legislation in force. It can only be detected on the beach and not on all of them. License is required (free).

Every year new candidates appear with their "newly released" super detectors. They don't last long...

There are three or four really good ones. But in the water, things change.

There are only two of us and consistently (all year) I don't think there are many of us.

Location and consistency, there is no more secret.

    And some good headphones...

  6. I continue in this new thread with the findings that come out. It will be a continuation of this other thread...

    https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/22811-minelabs-x-terra-pro-anyone-enjoying-theirs/

Gold piece 19 and 20 came out. A small medal of 1.05 gr. and a 1.4 gr. ring.

Some Silver too. Two rings and a gold earring marked 925.

And I was about to take out an octopus, it seems that it likes the red light on the screen...

All that, was it under water or on wet sand at low tide?

Hi, that last hunt was all underwater.

Most are on the surf, wet sand and chest-deep wading. Depends...I usually use Beach 1 or 2. I still don't know which is better. In winter I also dive, I use a 5mm Cressi. I'm a little cold.

    😉

In dry sand, Park 2 -15kHz.

I'm amazed by the battery life, more than 10-12 hours, incredible.

    IMG_20230606_073646.jpg

  8. Last night there was a full moon and low tide, it was time to go diving...

It's 9:00 p.m. The water is not so hot anymore. I like what I see, clean, hard sand, no major erosion but I smell the gold, I know it's there.

I choose a tourist beach, highly hunted by other detectorists. I don't know it like my other favorite beaches, but I got the comment that there were good Gold pieces coming out this summer. The background is darker, I have to lower the sensitivity to 13, otherwise I can't work. The light from the flashlight seems weaker. Agggh I don't see...

I manage to go up to 15-16 in an acceptable way, I am in BEACH 1, in 2 there is no way. I should have brought the 11' Nox coil. The flashlight continues to fail and the LED rear light is clearly insufficient, I still don't see much, by ear...open mind!

I'm thirty minutes in and I've covered practically nothing...I have to concentrate.

That's all that came out, the flashlight finally went off 40 minutes later.

All the Gold is fake, maybe next time...

Yes StarVatrex, EQX900. XTP is amazing for it's prize, and very sensitive in gold, but that ferrous sound in medium-high depth non ferrous targets makes me feel something is missing. So, I can't get with it, I need best accuracy sound, I hunt by ear, so I make an effort and went for the 900.

I have use the 900 only once, and it's like my 800 but updated and a little better. Watch the Sound mod I have done for the speaker, since it's the same measures are for the Xterra Pro.

I would like to own the Xterra, but I can't own all them!

Good choice, I have it in my sights too...

Although I think I would go for the 700, I only use it on the beach.

I have grown fond of the XT Pro, it's light and the low tones don't worry me, I also hunt by ear.

You have to change the chip a little, it's an SF. Everything that is more than 8-10 inches deep will be shades around 84-85 ID and low numbers, forget about the ID. With a pair of scoops you will clear up any doubts... It's not as sensitive to the small aluminum debris so common on the beach, with the 900 you will have to lower the sensitivity. I know I lose some micro jewelry, but...

In depth tests with my Nox 800 they are on par and the processor, audio and EMI handling are clearly superior.

And most importantly, I don't even have the feeling of losing anything valuable.

There is a myth among beach hunters around Nox to "always" use All Metal ON and two tones to get more depth.

I don't share it, I use the muted horseshoe and 5 tones a lot.

Everyone can detect in their own way...

The important thing is to have fun.

    😉

Simply awsome... you count your exits by gold pieces... 😉

That would be incredible...That's a lot of hours. I go out practically every day, even if it's just for a short time.

I dive a couple of days a week. 3-4 hours.

I have chosen about four beaches over the years and the good finds tend to be repeated.

I saw that you have bought a Nox 900. Congratulations.

    I await your comments.

    😎

  11. I have returned to the original coil, I think it is a better option for wading and I went for a walk...

I'm testing Beach 2 on the shore and I think the transition between wet sand and waves is better resolved. According to the manual the recovery speed is somewhat higher. I have the Horseshoe ON and the pitch break at -4. This is how I take advantage of the deep iron signals and the ones that I like the way they sound...

Manual Ground Balance on O and Tracking OFF. 5 tones and the vibration function on. The sensitivity between 17 and 19 depending on whether I get more into the water or not.

And I must say that this machine is really good.

I go out to look for low tones and weak and confusing signals, everyone entertains themselves with what they want...and in my case it's Gold.

Well, piece number 18 has come out!!!!. Gold ring 14k, 2.84 gr.

I have already passed 50 grams so far this year and there is less and less left for the two Ounces.

The sensitivity of this device is impressive and the audio even better. If it rings, it's there. Both the silver bangle and the steel bracelet sounded bad.

    Open mind...

    😎

    No bottlecap iron testing

No, no have bottlecap reject (which works very well on the Legend) but you have Ferro-Check too. In gold mode it is spectacular.

I like that in BEACH mode you can choose a Simple Frequency and not always have to go in Multi...

It also allows 'SF' at 20-40-60 kHz in GOLD mode.

The software is in its infancy, they ship it with version 3.0. I'm sure they will update later...

Here in Europe, the Q35 is now available.

Not much longer, let's see who is the brave one who jumps into the pool first...with the new V series.

    It look very nice.

I like the option (thanks to the gyro) to unify the VDI numbers according to your swing.

The top package with 2 coils, good headphones and wireless module costs €799.

    What do you think?...

  13. ...I went out last night at low tide to see what I could find. I'm still testing the Nox's 11' coil.

There are improvements,  a little more depth, more precise TID...but I miss the original 12x9. The thermodynamics of the oval coil and its lower weight work in its favor.

In the water the game changes!!...

The detector is starting to show signs of wear. Aluminum shafts are prone to scratching by fine sand. The grip clip has given a little. It ends up rising when it is pulled by strong waves. I had to reinforce the armrest support.

But for now, no water on the PDA...

One small Gold ring come out! 0,80 gr.

    IMG_20230914_233234.jpg

    IMG_20230915_074936.jpg

  14. ...I continue with the 11 inch coil. I don't use a pinpointer, in the water it's complicated, and I measure the depth in Scoops. The 4 and 5 stroke hunts are back, with the original coil I rarely reached 4.

The amount of information the audio gives me has also improved. That 'junk' bracelet gave a long, ugly tone, but I knew it was a wire or an elongated piece of some craft.

    Awesome!

I can also increase the sensitivity a couple notches higher and I'm testing the recovery speed at 3. Values that I simply couldn't run before.

The quality of the old Nox coil is still there.

On the other hand, it becomes somewhat heavier. And the "electric tip" of the oval coil is a little lost.

This is how the last silver rings have been once cleaned...

    😎

personally I have not seen one video yet that I feel would give us any idea of what the V80 is capable of or what the audio actually sounds like or anything yet and we may not since they are not being shipped to the U.S for sale, the Q35 is coming to the U.S but personally I am no more interested in the Q35 then I am the new Xterra Pro or new Simplex Ultra

the two detectors that I would love to see come to the U.S the V80 and the new Rutus Versa we here in the U.S may never see either of those two detectors which is sad if you think about it

Here in Europe they have been advertising the launch since March. Summer has passed and there is no availability.

Some distributors announce it for September and have already opened the 'pre-order' period (which they soon learned)...

I'm opting for the Xt Pro. I haven't tried the new Simplex. On the beach it is a real killer.

    Has anyone tried it

    the 60khz seems interesting

I'm the same, waiting for real test. Yes, it seems interesting... back in the day I had one of the first X5 (8kHz) and the truth is, it gave me a lot of satisfaction on the beach...

I follow in the footsteps of the prototype that was going to be called Q80 with "simultiQ", now V80 with "hyperQ".

Too bad about the videos on YouTube, they are not the most accurate...

Reaching 80kHz and the built-in gyroscope seem like an advance to me. The mechanics look impressive!

I think the audio could be improved. We will have to wait.

There are 3 Modes, each with 2 Profiles.  Each comes with the default preset recovery speed, frequency, notching, and tone breaks.  All of these are adjustable within Mode/Profile.  The Beach mode's frequency is fixed at 8 kHz.

Does choosing a mode implies some other, non-adjustable, setting that comes with it?  Iron bias comes to mind.  In other words can I, by adjusting the default settings, make e.g. Field 2 work exactly like e.g. Park 1?

Not each mode has its peculiarities. You can make small changes, nothing more.

Don't worry about the iron bias...there isn't any.

Start with the preset settings, adjust the ground balance and start in two tones. Take your time learning their language and get everything that sounds interesting. It's the only way to learn...

And don't forget to download the manual from the web, you will need it.

Congratulations on your choice, you're going to have fun.

...Another small 18k earring came out. It weighs 1.30 gr. and I found it in dry sand! Park 2 -15kHz- is perfect for small pieces.

    😀

StarVatrex, since you have Nox 800 why are you using the X-Terra pro? Also, I totally agree with you about hunting by ear. Of course, the processor that has a metal detector also plays a big role, but the fact that the soil is processed by 3 or 5 frequencies at the same time gives a big advantage to simultaneous  multi-frequency detectors. Have you ever used Vanquish 540?

F350Platinum, you recommend X-terra Pro, what have you seen from those who use it compared with Vanquish or Equinox or other detectors?

The Xt Pro arrived as a return sign of a Manticore booked last Christmas.

The idea of using it as a replacement for my old Nox, the possibility of use the coils and headphones I already had; and the IP68 certification did the rest.

Obviously the price was also a great ally.

And since the day I tried it, the Nox has gone out for a walk a couple of times, no more. Why?...

For me, over the years and taking into account that I only use it on the beach, there are two types of detectors:

The hot ones and the ones that aren't.

I don't go into Single Frequency, Multiple, high or low weighting of this, posibility of GB,iron bias or recovery speed.

There are machines that love Gold and others that don't even smell it...

If you like water, you will end up hunting by ear. And false objectives will be your headache. In that last detail the Xt Pro stands out even above the Nox!

Both the processor (faster) and the Audio (dP) are one step above the old Nox. It is a clear heir to the new generation of 700-900's.

It's not a Nox, but it's a tremendously hot machine, that's fine with me.

Today, it's half Nox. I've been using the 11' coill for some time...

VDI identification is poor to very poor. Normal in an SF after 6 inches.

The backlit keyboard and the vibration function are a success. And the possibility of submerging it 5 meters opens a new field of search.

Looking at the price of the new Manticora coils, I think it is one of the best investments of the moment. 😉

No, I don't have a Vanquish. But I've used both a 340 and a 540. If I don't have one it's for the 'Threshold'. It won't be detected without the buzzing in the my ears...

  19. 12 hours ago, George1971 said:

The word «obsolete» was used by Minelab when presented the technology multi-IQ. In other words, in your opinion, are single-frequency detectors just as effective as multi-frequency detectors in identifying the ground conditions (especially beach), the identification and stability in vdi numbers in separation and the depth? Then why they made the simultaneous multi frequency metal detectors? Watch the video that I mentioned and you will realize the difference.

I think there is a lot of marketing and that Minelab have to sell...

    With 'obsolete' they have succeeded.

I love the Vanquish, honestly I don't see a successor for it, it's and will be an incredible entrance detector. Multi IQ works.

I'm a Beach Hunter, I hunt by ear, for me the ID is secondary. And Xt Pro works perfectly. I got a Nox 800 too.

I also like the GPX 5000...
