  1. They took it yesterday, but they are still waiting on the British Museum for an official report on it. So at the moment it is being recorded on PAS but not being reported to the coroner yet.... The suspense is killing me 😀
  2. Thanks for your thoughts RickUK , it's going to the FLO tomorrow and photos have gone to the British museum already, so hopefully a definative answer soon!
  3. Thanks Bfod, it's going to my nearest Finds Liason Officer on Wednesday to see if it falls under the treasure act, if so It'll get handed in and will probably be bought by my local museum. Needless to say I'll be gridding that field to see what else might be in it!
  4. Out on an old local pasture in the UK, that's off the beaten track and has been heavily detected by myself and others. I had the Manticore on All Terrain General - Low Conductors, sens 27, stabliser 3, the ferrous limits opened up a bit top and bottom. I hit a scratchy but repeatable 35, not a belter of a signal but enough to make me dig, so glad I did, as at the bottom of a pinpointer deep hole this beautiful gold ring appeared! There are no date or makers marks on the ring so I'm unsure of it's age, it has a nice weight to it. I've had a look through UK National Antiquities database but can't find anything that matches it. The British Museum in London is currently looking at pictures of it to ascertain what age it is to see if it should be taken under the Treasure Act. One specialist has indicated he thinks it's medieval and a couple of people have suggested it may have had Niello inlayed into it. Still a bit of a mystery, but if anyone could help with an ID i'd be very grateful. Kind regards Stuart
  5. This was the response to my email to Minelab in Ireland regarding the headphone situation. "At this time there are no alternatives to wireless audio other than the supplied ML105 Headphones or the ML85 headphones that ship with the EQUINOX 700 & 900 detectors. This current limitation is because the MANTICORE and EQUINOX 700 & 900 detectors utilise our new proprietary low latency wireless audio codec that is not used on any previous products and delivers faster, higher quality audio than is possible with standard Bluetooth. I am unaware at this time of any future developments that extend the variety of compatible wireless audio devices with the detector, but I shall raise your desire for a Wireless Module option for the MANTICORE as a feature request to our Product Development team. The ML85 On Ear Wireless Headphones are expected to become available soon via our Approved Dealer Network with Minelab Accessory Part Number: 3011-0465 - ML85 Headphones. The ML85 Headphones have the same physical form-factor as the ML80 Headphones that the EQUINOX 800 shipped with. There is currently high demand and initial stocks in UK may be limited, but most dealers would be in a position to order these for you. Our UK Distributor can be contacted directly at the below details:"
  6. That's Neil Jones, he's one of the UK testers for Minelab...
  7. The guy on this video strips down the ML105s and states that putting the PCB into a 3D printed case would be a good solution. (You need auto translate on (unless you speak Russian!))
  8. The weather is heating up in the UK and the Manticore headphones are getting sweaty and uncomfortable. Minelab hasn't come up with any alternative solutions so it was good to see this hack by Scott Elliss in the UK. He's essentially used one ML80 ear cup and turned it into a WM08 style box that you can plug in any earbuds or headphones with a lead. He described the wiring as quick and simple to do, but didn't give an exact breakdown of whats involved.
