  1. Took my 800 to a local (big city) park just to try it out (our ground is frozen solid here).

very nice ergos, settings easy to use, etc...but I simply couldn't find a  'clean' spot to ground balance!

'Hot' detectors have this as a side effect I guess....I lowered the sense but to no avail.

I didn't feel comfortable just turning on auto tracking so I decided to just bump the GB up manually from the default 0 to 6.

I'm pretty bothered by this so I'm looking for suggestions, advice....

Also I would be curious to see what other users are seeing for a GB # relative to their understanding of their areas mineralization level.

  2. decided to take my 800 to a local (big city) park to see about the 'noise issue'.

ground is frozen solid and will be for some time but today was nice so what the heck....

very nice ergos, settings easy to use, etc...but dang I couldn't find a  'clean' spot to ground balance!

uncomfortable running auto tracking so I decided to just up the GB from 0 to 6....kind of stuck here.

advice? and can folks let me know what # their ground GB's to?

lots of chatter so moved the sense down to 17 on park 1....usable, I'll just get used to the ground chatter...

came across some decent, what I assume were penny signals, depth guage is pretty much maxed

on most of these 25ish signals with some jumping around....

really looking forward to the thaw to see how deep these are...looks like the last of the pennies here

will be easy to pick out...

I didn't make my Equinox purchase from Gerry.  I didn't have to prepay because of my 'relationship' with my dealer but Minelab wanted to send to prepays first so I followed the rules.  Bill will have my detector this weekend and send it to me.  I'll have it for my beaches early next week!  I'll tell you when I get it.

Dealers don't want to get caught in the who's first game.  Please don't ask them how many.

Steve has said the fire storm was about to begin and now it has.  Two months from now it will probably be out.

    Mitchel

The 'fire storm' will only be out if Minelab recognizes the amount of interest in their new detector and seriously ramps up production...personally I see this getting worse and worse as a few finally get out and the reports (of just how good/versatile it is) begin coming out....

so the fire storm really begins next week and will build as folks see how few have actually been shipped out....we're talking very large Worldwide demand here folks...

oh and Minelab, if you're listening, it's absolutely necessary to let us know exactly what you plan on doing to put this fire storm out....cheers....

  4. Minelab seems to be a master of obfuscation. Clearly they indicated they have been building units since December

so, what, about 2 months of builtup units simply needing the final FW update....This would seem to translate into

a lot of units ready by January....so what's holding things up and can we just expect a trickle of units to each dealer into the months ahead?

A nice shot of clarification as to the production/shipping process would really help right about now...

I can picture every employee there in Aussie land with a stack of units using their work computers to install FW updates, lol...

If only a couple units arrive in Canada for the entire month of February (with no solid indication of a timeline for more units) this boy, for one, is going to be very pissed off....

you nailed it!   I sold off my racer and racer2 to pay for the nox and I dont get out as much as i was so I am past the point of owning multiple machines. I am hoping the nox offers most everything I hope for and its going to be my only machine.

good you did, Kruzers will hurt their resale ability (and price) also...

Hang tight and conserve energy for the upcoming XP vs Equinox wars!

Equinox wins the logistics battle vs the Deus hands down....+ the comparable cost battle...qed

and I don't even have one yet. I never bought a Deus even though I could have had I so desired.

  7. definitely understandable! now go find that gold coin! I do think the forum and especially this

EQ section will roll along nicely with less done on your part, if/when we actually get them, lol.

also, that photo is fabulous. I'd much rather be there (or looking for nuggets) than dealing with

xxxx here, lol, though for the most part we're a pretty good group of md'ers.

your words did cement the notion of the EQ being a great detector, of that I have no doubt. and hopefully very soon we'll be getting some sort of official notice from Minelab as to where it stands on "getting them into our hands".

    cheers
