  1. I got answer to this 4 to 5 pin adaptor. Only works with the amplifier only, using with the battery and regulator DO NOT try it as it can damage the detector. No explanation why it can damage the detector. Tom
  2. KD0TS here. We are in the Congress area just North of Wickenburg. You might do a search on line for prospecting clubs close to where you are. Usually some others close to you are looking for someone to go with you/them. I do belong to the Roadrunners prospectors club. They have claims all over. A little pricey but a decent group.
  3. Swegin, there is supposed to be a cool down here in Congress, Az next week. Supposed to go down to 103/105. Hopefully at the least some moisture will tame a lot of this dry grass so I will feel more "safe" and not have my exhaust pipe set a fire.. Always my serious concern this time of year and it is hard to find a safe area to park. those concerns come natural to a former fire fighter.
  4. I have a working screamer, 7.4 volt Li-on Kastar , 8700mAh battery and amplifier off of a GP Extreme detector, using the 4 pin configuration. How long this battery power the gpx5000 detector and can I change the plug to a 5 pin configuration and use it on the gpx5000 ? What problems would I run into.? I would follow the GP 5 pin printout for proper wiring. As I read it, the pin 5 is not used, pin 1 is +, pin 4 is -, pins 2 and 3 are audio. Thoughts ?
  5. If you have the numbers I would also like to know, in order to Upgrade my detector. I was listening to one of the Detector Mods videos yesterday and I wrote down the number he quoted LT1011. Cannot verify this is correct.
  6. I have to make another post (rambling) so I don't get deleted. I read more than posting.🤗 Dry washing is by far my first choice in the Arizona desert. Very happy with what I have found over the years using the Keene 151 and smaller Gold Buddy dry washers. That heavy Keene equipment is getting to me. Age is beginning to change my mind toward more detecting. Some detecting over the years has provided some nice gold specimens. Hour for hour of usage the detector has provided more gold than the dry washer. Anxiously waiting for the Temps to drop so I can get more hours letting my new to me GPX5000 take me for more walks in this beautiful desert. Today should make 23 days of temps over 110 degrees.
  7. Forgot to mention , I do intend to purchase a nugget evolution coil after I get a few more hours on this detector.
  8. Thanks. I currently have the 11inch dd and mono and the 8inch ML mono.
  9. I detect in the mountains around Wickenburg Az and North. Looking for gold. Very seldom look for anything else.
  10. This sounds like a wonderful place to be. Just purchased a pre-owned GPX5000. Researching just how to use this thing. SD2100v2 is the machine that has taken me for many, many walks in the Arizona desert. Have found some very nice specimens and some not so spectacular tiny nuggets. Proud of every one of them. The ground here is full of hot rocks of many sizes. Hoping to punch a bit deeper with the 5000. So many settings and sub settings. Found on this forum some very helpful information from very experienced people. Only problem right now I will have to wait a couple of weeks for the temperature to go down a few degrees, to put this information to use. Only have about 6 hours on this machine so far, finding the normal tiny bits of wire and the normal trash. Anyway thanks for providing this forum. Tom
