I have one of that dog's descendants ! But somewhere along the line there was a gene mutation. My dog only brings me bottle caps and pull tabs.
Are the gold in colour like some we have here in Aus. 😁

Jason do you have " Single Wire Earth Return " (SWER) Power Lines in your area They were used in remote areas here in Victoria Aus. to distribute house and farm power, if so that could be your problem.

Release date Australia...........Release date September 2022

Don't they release them just after a good find and just before vacation time ( school) ☺️

When the handle is replaced get one with the wood grain orientated on the same plane as the pick head. It is the strongest for hitting and levering out the target.
The photo above shows that it spit along the grain that was at 90º to the pick head orientation.

I’ve still got over $100 in damaged $1 and $2 coins……I think they can be exchanged by banks?
The $1 & $2 coins are removed from Carol heap and go in mine. Tony the total that you have to be counted is some where between 100 and 50 coins so that is not problem like the 2000+ that had to be counted by the bank machine.

Well Carol only got a third of a $1000 but the machine I used took an hour too. The computer keep crashing and would only take a maximum of 400 coins. The bank employer was get mad at the machine and was very happy when it was all over. ☹️

Hmmm, so it looks like any full wrap taping of the coil cover cuts the venting off. My guess, if your staying at a set elevation it wont matter much?
Be aware that the pressure will build up with temperature changes. Different temperature In the sun, in the water, in the car with the windows shut on a sunny day will change the pressure in the coil so a vent is required.

Update Coins cashed in today. The machine total $333.15 from 2137 (copper/nickel coins) fake silver coins.
50¢ = 231 coins value $115.50
20¢ = 635 coins value $127.00
10¢ = 602 coins value $60.20
5¢ = 669 coins value $33.50

Note: No lip on dish but he keeps his gold.

Why do you guys want to come to Aussyland, there is enough gold in the USA, so leave our gold alone. 🤑
-
we are a weird mob here. The steering wheel is on the right side of the car and the cars have boots and bonnets, we don't put our luggage in the front of the car like Germans do (VW) or use a petrol tank as a rear bumper bar likes the USA do (Ford Pinto). The blood goes to our brain as we are upside down, not like those northerner they have the flood draining from their brain down to the feet. To get back to gold beware if you find gold near an eucalyptus forest Aussies might take you into Drop Bear country or feed you a deadly vegemite sandwich. You have been warned.

Simon I feel sorry for you. After I get to NZ on my cruise in Nov. there will not be any gold left, but the buckshot I will leave for you😀. So book a detecting trip to the Old Country to find your just deserves. 🤩

Simon the size of your coil 10" by 5" is the largest coil I would use chasing your NZ bits. NB: I did not say nuggets mate 🤣 as some of those shotgun pellets are larger. Good write up and to me I would say you will get a replacement 11" coil from ML.

A great job you are doing Steve, but I'm glad it not me doing it for you.🤪

I hope that many more young people get interested in the game. When my boys were about 10 they are now in their 50s. I showed some gold to the kids in their Primary School grades. I hope they are detecting now but not on my patch 😁. I told them that I have counted them so I will know if there any missing 😄 -
JP does that me if you don't have the ferric ring available switching from Semi-Auto to Auto for a few minutes and back to Semi-Auto when out of whack (or every now an then) should do just as good of job as using the ferric ring?

The gold varies in size (no two are the same shape or size), content of other metals in it, the change of ground, moister in ground, and most of all how the operator uses the detector. Such as speed, attention, consistency of coil height and over lapping. A big job for humans (risk assessment of leaving gold behind) bigger job for AI.

I hope you spelt "+ too" correct and not "+ two" that would make it 3 months😀

The one and 2 golden dollars are the cream on the beach dry sand. If you buy something with a paper/plastic not you have more chance of getting more $2 coins than $1. The $1 and $2 get spent straight away but the fake silver ones get thrown in a bucket. As most coins we find these days are found on the dry sand and are in good condition. All of these coins are post 1966 when Aus. changed to decimal currency and are not collected by me.
Back to the fake $1 and $2 coins I used to hit the main holiday spot about 200 miles east of Melbourne. There was a boy (from an unfortunate family) that would see my car and race over and dig all the targets for me. After the first time I came to the agreement that $1, $2 and jewellery were mine and for his effort he got all the other coins and toys that he dug up. I think he was always checking to see if I was there because he never missed when I was detecting.😁

Deepseeker I dealt with Victorian Garrett distributor Arnold Muller way back in 1980 the service was fantastic. What a difference these day.

To compare undisturbed targets it is hard to decide the method of operation. If there is many undug targets in the selected area it is a bit easier than finding a known target and testing it against the second detector that knows it there. The first one did not have that advantage. When I compare detectors and coils, I detect till one is found and mark it then use the other unit till it finds another one and so on till time runs out. Then compare all the signals with both units for comparison. The reason that I did it this way was I found nuggets that the mate had gone over fairly carefully and missed them, but could detect it when he knew something was there.
