All these pictures are when we were over in western aus
Never know what we can come across, it reminded Mike of the first ute he ever owned
this one is a tad rusty ..
Old timers hut made from beef bully tins.. the cattle and wild life have destroyed it a little. Well maybe more than a little.
Old timers hole
Wild life
This little pebble dragon lizard actually started to chase my coil and attack it. He is only about five inches long. Usually they are darker in colour, seems they camouflage to the rocks.
An abandoned old camp.
Bush turkey nest?

It's like roo poo and tektites.
You put them in your mouth and if green slime dribbles down your chin it's not a tektite
Well... thats a bit on the ewwwww side..
i have to admit the very first tektite i had found while in W.A was on a white quartz hill, as i was zig zagging between the trees and low bushes, there was this longish black looking interesting object....i didn't know what it was.. my first thought was.. ok.. hmmmm, no other dark rocks or stones about., i reckon this is from a kangaroo.. so i stood on it! Nope still in one piece.. so I stood on it and twisted my foot, pressed down hard as i could. took my foot away, and it was still there, i thought wow!!! it sure has been baked hard in the sun.. it won't squash down to all mushy and green like kangaroo poop should..
so i than though ok.. i am intrigued now.. so bent down and picked it up.. gee its heavier than kangaroo poop.. ( yes i know what the feel and weight of kangaroo poop is lol )
and NO i have never put it in my mouth.. ewwwww .. lol
never seen a rock like this before it was black. My first Tektite

hey Mike and Jen
is that the back tracker you bought a couple of years ago for about 35 bucks or was that one a dud? When I sussed out the gps on the 7000 I gave my backtracker to Enio as a spare. And what`s really funny is, about 2 weeks after I gave him mine, believe it or not, I drove over his and squashed it flat. When he told me about it I said "well that`s why I gave you mine as a spare"
cheers daveWe use the orange bush tracker gps., they are small light weight, mark the car.. turn them back off. And off detecting you go.. if we do get to disoriented, turn them back on, very simple to use.. the only thing we find with them is don't believe the arrow.. look at how many metres away from the car you are, the numbers start counting downward. If it does upwards.. well you know you are walking in the wrong direction .
the bush can be very thick in the places we go.
we also have the other bigger gps's.. just depends how far we plan to explore the bush on foot..
The little green gps's we brought, while i reckon they work well. I find them "fiddly" lol
We still have them, need damn good eye sight as well, they are smaller than the orange ones, and they arent all the big.. but the screen is easy to read on them..
lol you flattened a gps.. lucky you are a good friend and gave him yours in preparation
this happened a couple of years back.. in W.A
we were all having lunch. Sat in the chairs behind the cars didn't we well it was the best place to place our camp chairs. Nice smooth dusty track..( dust had settled )
Anyway finished lunch.. we all moved to the next location, and one of the troops.. says " "i can not find my uhf walkie talkie" he hunted hi and low in his car.. almost striped everything out of his loaded up car...nope no luck.. so back to where we had lunch ( we had to travel that way back to get back to camp ) and there it was.. it still worked, but the screen was damaged. It was right where Mike had to reverse the car back onto the track.. whoops!!
Mike offered to buy him another one.. but he wouldn't hear of it..
Mike still felt bad
Whoops again we went way off topic..
Mike brought a skid plate for his 19" Gpz7000 coil
Its a tight fit, but his still placed tape around.
He said it glides over the grass now.

this is a from what the old timers dug out.. the deep hole is around the other side.
i love the way they reinforced the walls.

Hi JW, well Tremain cut his hand quite badly the other week, so had 2 rounds of micro surgery to attach tendons. But get this they forgot to get him to sign the permission form, so they had to bring him back out to sign the form then put under again to finish the surgery. The moral of the story is, I said to him while your arm is in plaster you have the time to put out another vid. He agreed, as he has time on his hands some would say so let's see what happens.
Oh bummer.. not good to hear.. pass on our best wishes too Tremain
We hope all went well.. we wish him a very speedy recovery...
warmest regards
Jen & Mike

Beautiful lump of gold, Jen.
Obviously you and Mike taught the "young bloke" well,
Phil
Hi phil..
thankyou
I think he can teach us old dogs a few tricks now

Well all i know is.. we fill our holes in.. leaf litter and all goes back where it came from
Mike does such a good job he can not find his own spots back when he wants to find them back after a couple of months.. even when we go back the next day its hard to tell where he has been.. he remembers by using land marks
Even in W.A.. leave it as it was, or better than it was!
Same anywhere we go!
this is what we will always do.. clean up after ourselves, and leave no tell tail sign we have been there. Just the tyre marks on the tracks.
its not hard to do.
i feel with some of these clubs getting so big with members, a lot of members just pass the buck! Not right! But it happens..
-
It came ready to hang around your neck
well done Golden.. its a beauty!!

Hi all
well mike and i were lucky to win one of these in a raffle at a club outing in W.A
https://www.finderskeepersgold.com/product/kwik-kiln-gas-gold-melting-kit/
he brought his own mapp gas and torches
worked a real treat. There is 3x just over 1oz and 1 over 2 oz
the gold used to make these ingots, were less then half gram pieces
they were tiny tiny specks.
This was part of what we found in W.A last season
Best part.. if your not happy with the outcome, you can re-melt them again
Hobo's gold ( Johnny ) facebook page where he is selling his kiln kits
forgot to mention.. you have to be a member on his facebook page. here's a pic.. hopefully he will put his add up here for those that may be interested
Hope you didn't mind me placing this up here Johnny..

Congratulations to your brother and you Beatup
lovely gold, the speci sure is a beauty!
Thankyou for showing us the

Very nice golden. Love the little bits of gold.. cool.
i have a few of those types of buttons somewhere..
the old timers must have been walking around with string holding up there pants
or maybe the buttons come from their shirts

Hey Jen, that`s the thing with using the amp to control the threshold, from 20ft away you can`t hear it
cheers
Wouldn't that depend on which way the wind is blowing..
in W.A you can hear the Detectors beeping away about half a k away.
one day i could hear a detector, could just make out someone in the distance
but going by the sound of the detector, he was using a GPZ7000

I run my sdc2300 on 4 or 5 depends on the ground at the time, and 3rd light with 4th light flashing, using headphones.
now it can be a tad noisy at times, but it makes the little speckle nuggys boom in.. at a very good depth for their size.
but thats not how i ran it for the first 12months of owning my sdc2300.
I ran it on 4 with the first red light, second flashing.
as i got to know my little detector i ramped it up!
Phoenix.. i stopped using the guitar amp.
i hated the fact everyone could hear me.
I love to be incognito in the bush
Plus i love the cordless option's out there now.
found the guitar amp to noisy with headphones. Guess it also depends on each individual's hearing
We also have brought the minelab pro sonic, still in its box.
Will try it out soon.
