  1. Hi Ghansen

Gold has done some strange things to very close people/friends.

Its probably  best to agree on a deal prior starting detecting.Depend of people you detect.

Some people are not much bothered by this. Some are very strange.

I detected many times with so many friends/people i know through forum or Our mining association and never ever had this question/issue even mentioned.

We all detect and everyone keeps for they find.I also call other to check with better detectors if i find anything.I dont really care much about this.I dont  live from it and is just hobby.

Sure everyone likes to find a piece of gold and when someone in a group find anything sometimes we tend to say to each other once you move or finish we will go over.

I go detecting mostly with one person and we have no any agreement in place. We keep finds and last few months i dont even use my detector i use his.

But i know what i would do if i find a Big one.

    Even tho he doesn't agree.

As mention on start do agree prior detecting  if you think you need or you might lose some very good friends.

Good luck and i hope you find a nice ones.

  2. People are same regardless where you live on this planet.

If they can get away it many try and do.

It comes in my opinion is how you were brought up at a home.

Seems many lack in this department.

As i was not born in Australia i was blown away but untouched beauty of this continent.

I love nature and nothing in this world can beat it or create something better then nature.

I do not necessary  love all creatures when i go detecting but i believe they are put on this planet for a reason and they do their own bit and are important part of it.(even a little spiders)

My impression of this row beauty of country quickly disappeared once i went detecting for a  first time.

Amount of rubbish intentionally left there was unbelievable.

i am glad that many times through our detecting association we have clean up days.We get together with park ranger do our bit and have a nice bbq at the end.

I like this hobby and what it has to offer.Friendship ,nature, camping, talks around camp fires, laughs, gold stories, escapes of busy city life etc.

Apart from holes left over (which most of us fill up ) there is one thing i really hate with passion.

Detectors who find a piece of rubbish then leave it again in a hole and fill it up.

Sure enough i am enough experienced now to recognize already dig holes but i just want and take out that piece of rubbish other leave.

These people are not good for this hobby and i find this quiet mean as it is done on purpose.

Could be sheer laziness but i have my doubts.

Please do the right thing when in a nature.Respect every bit and it will give u back all what  you expect and tenfold more.

    Take care and stay safe.

    And dig all.

  3. True Steve.

I noticed price is one of the main factor everyone goes up in the arms.

SDC2300 is great detector for every walk of life-experienced operators, newbies, additional detector etc.

Perfect tool to get wifes/gf to get interested instead of sitting around caravan in middle of nowhere.

Easy to detect practically turn on and go.

    Proven gold finders.

They might saved some marriages or at least made them much smoother.

  4. Nice one Phoenix.

I personally like to find gold but i prefer to  find relics.

Unfortunately here we cant touch them and have to leave them where we find them.

Pretty sad  if you ask me.I would like we could instead donate all pieces to the museum and map all finds  from goldfields for future generations.

They tell history and you never know what we will come across.

We are very limited in finds from distant history in Australia but hey we are very well compensated with gold here.

I found few buttons and some interesting relics and i i wish they can talk.

  5. agree with you both. There is no way a newbie (novice) will find any of these little nuggets if only little of noise.

    Looking back i wouldn't find 9 of 10 when i started.

i always preferred silence when i started.i realized this when i took newbies for a first time they just walk and dont "hear "it..

    Hey Mitchel
I`m not really hijacking this thread because goldEn found this piece about 6 months ago and I took this photo of it before it was dropped into acid. From memory he got it with the 2300.    We took it out of the acid last week but it still had a little bit of the brown rock on it, so it went back into fresh acid.  I think goldEn took a photo of it last week but I am not 100% sure
    cheers Dave

  7. Very true GB.

Been on some goldfields many many times.Sometimes you get nothing,  sometimes few nuggets.

From my own experience its all in a head,

If my mind is not ok i detect like a zombie.I think i can pass over anything i am just not there.

I am 100% sure that most of us have a few monologues about our life in general when detecting. For some its way to clear our head and escape day to day life/problems.

Some days these monologues make my detecting impossible. I would rather be somewhere else and in my mind i am better off not to detect. I rush , i walk fast, i dont concentrate on a detecting, i wave detector way too fast and i also get angry.

I usually have a little break, sit down and enjoy peace which our bush offers.

I clear my mind,  pick up  detector and find a few nuggets later.

Remember low and slow is the way to go.

    My motto is Dig everything.

Never dismiss any target unless you see it next to your feet on the ground.Still move the rubbish with your foot and wave the coil again. Many times you will find gold this way.

As you pick up a nugget stop for a second and always ask yourself first:

    where did it come from.

    Good luck and stay safe.

  8. Been there only once with a group of 20 of us as a social detecting day out.

Only one person found only sole nugget :)

Our leader was a guy who found 600 ounces patch there.

I think from Memory there is Californian gully there which goes over 6km in length.

Plenty gold came our of that place.

One thing for Australian goldfields is if you put up with rubbish you will find a gold.

Be patient, persistent and enjoy the day.Tune yourself with nature and surroundings and keep positive.

Is this what you mean GoldEN - sensitivity max 5 and threshold minimum setting of 1? I like pictures and hope this helps illustrate what you mean....
