I went to test my gpx5000 I brought my whites gmt that sand was so black my gmt was unusable and my detecting pick magnet was covered in black sand I mean this was in a sand pit cut about 100 feet below the tundra and the sand was black it got me thinking so I had to ask

Absolutely! Black Gold is mined all over the North Slop of Alaska.
Also a lot of Nome and the Brooks Range are Tundra. Both are gold producing areas.
Not oil I mean small gold

I have a question??? If gold is found on some beaches all over the world could it be found in sand under the tundra in Alaska????

Hey Sourdoughmoe,
I would be happy with those results on a GPX 5000. Not sure why you get 2 additional inches when you raise the coil off the ground vs. scrubbing it on the ground for max depth.
Yeah I was able to hear it clear scrubbing it than I raised it to see if I could still hear it and was able to get a noticeable signal 2 more raised inches
-
Threshhold in the 2 o'clock position gb normal soil time is sharp coil mode is in mono tracking fixed head phones are grey ghost not the cheap minelab ones all other settings are in factory preset was able to pick up a 22 bullet 2.5grams nine inches was scrubbing the 14x9 evo against the dirt but was able to hear it 2 more additional inches off the ground.

Hey Sourdoughmoe,
Glad you kept the NF 8x6, it will be useful in the future for bedrock hunting and working around a lot of rocks, brush and such. It's one of the best clean up coils after working the area with a "prospecting sized coil" like the 14x9 you got. My favorite all around coil for detecting is and was the 14x9 elliptical Mono. If I located a good areas with nuggets, I would work it pretty hard with this coil and then come back at a later time with a larger coil like a 17x13 or bigger round in hopes of larger pieces at depth. At some point I would return with a small coil or a high end VLF for the dinks.
I would also recommend doing testing outside, away from the house EMI.
Thanks once again for your business and friendship. Wishing you much success with the new toys!
Why does it seem that mine does not go as deep as others

Man my 14x9evo is as good as the sadie on my small pieces and better than the 15x12 I can hear a penny through 13 inches of memory foam

i have a question what kind of depth should i expect on a nickel size target using the 14 x9 nf evo and what setting would you recommend, my ground is weak i live in Alaska

Not too good of odds on those tiny ones, miss two and get one, maybe the new coiltek 9" round mono elite will pick em all up? The new Elite 9" comes out in May.
Sadie coil screams 3 inches away in the one near the tip and pigs an inch away on the other ones I can say I am happy

I sometimes gauge a coils ability to hear tiny gold by the size of shotshell shot they can detect, my 14x9 Evo hits on #9 dove load shot pcs to 3" consistently and plenty loud, am very satisfied with that, my 14" round elite mono barely can hear the #9 dove load shot pieces close to the coil. Just another way to gauge coil sensitivity.
Waiting on Rob to get back to me. I really want the 14x9 evo

Man I made small pieces that my gmt can hear if I run them up to my coil. I swear I Can hear a faint signal when I rub them on my gpx5000 I mean tiny if I was rubbing against the ground listening good I'd find them
-
Why will my gpx not pic them up like the other one

Chris, another issue that can cause problems is turning the detector on and off in rapid order; that may cause the computer to get confused...
Fred
it is called coil overload
