I don't like the XP charging system on the D2 anyway.. and I often forget to screw the cap back on after charging, if I'm in a hurry.

I agree. I wish they'd do something like a quick connect magnetic charger for both the coil and remote, similar to what Minelab has. In the meantime, this is a welcomed upgrade for me. I absolutely hate the screw-on connector.

Thanks DeWayne! 2 on the way, hope they get here before Myrtle Beach next week. Thanks man! 👍🥳

    It's about time... 🤔

Good luck on your beach trip! I'll probably be heading back to Myrtle again sometime in the next couple of months.

  3. I'm sure most of you have seen this by now, but thought I'd bring it to the attention of those who haven't. There's a new cable available with a simple push-on plug for the remote. It works well.

It may not seem like a big improvement at first since you can just push the original plug on without screwing down the nut, but this one actually goes on a lot easier. When you pop it on, the cord will always be facing downward, which eliminates the issue of having to rotate the plug until it finds it's seat. Got mine from Serious Detecting for about 15 bucks. Money well spent IMHO. Sometimes its the little things that make life easier.

  4. Nice finds Bob! I’ve been playing around with the Tekkna program for about a week with varying success. It was able to sniff out some small pieces of brass at one of my heavily hunted iron blanketed sites. Still need to spend more time with it.

Looks like a nifty design!  Is this something you developed or something you found somewhere?

Thanks! It’s something I came up with several years ago. I like to keep a hand free while detecting so that I can answer my phone, grab a drink or whatever else. Tried one of those holsters for long handled shovels, but it never really worked well for me due to the T handle being hung at belt level. With the full length of the shovel hanging below the belt line, it would start swinging and banging against my ankles as I walked. Since the hip clip can be mounted further down the shaft, it eliminates that problem.

Edit by clicking on the 3 dots upper right of your post.

Me likey Hip Clip ! 🤩

My Nomad is a lot lighter ga. metal than the big root slayer but for me the key word was lighter.

(That's why I gave it to my detecting buddy ! I can still use it when needed LOL)🏴‍☠️ arrrrrr

Thanks! I believe it was Geologyhound who was having some trouble editing a post. 🙂

Tried one of those, first time out one of the screws came apart and I lost half of it. Should have used Loctite on 'em. Sure was nice tho.

Just do shoulder carry now. 🤔

You sure that was a hip-clip? Mine are only one piece and only use one bolt. If it was a hip-clip, let me know and I’ll send you a replacement.

  8. My current two favorites are my Predator Spartan and Excalibur Merlin. To me, the Spartan strikes the perfect balance of blade size, overall length and weight. It also has a D handle, which I prefer. The Excalibur Merlin breaks down to a very compact size which allows me to carry it, along with my Deus 2 in my Motorcycle saddlebag or a backpack. I haven’t had it long, but so far it seems very durable and works great. I have some other Predator shovels and a Root Slayer, but those two are the ones I use the most.

I have Hip-Clips on all of my shovels, which lets me carry them on my belt whenever I want to free up a hand.

  9. I had a Manticore for a while and liked it a lot. Great performance, well thought out menu and excellent screen. I just found that the Deus 2 was better suited for my style of hunting. Mainly due to weight and audio, the latter of which being personal preference. If the Deus 2 didn't exist, I'd be perfectly happy with the Manticore as my primary detector. It's a great machine IMHO.
