Hearing aids do not help with the tinnitus, I have been to multiple Dr's to no avail it just keeps getting worse and worse mine is so bad that I am hearing 3-4 different sounds at all times 24 hours today in both ears, it is a miserable medical condition, that drives you nuts, it also makes it difficult to hear a detector.

mine is due to shooting with out ear protection and operating some really loud heavy equipment, and ridding mowers with loud exhaust when I was younger, and also farm equipment cutting silage for cows and hay equipment I never wore any kind of ear protection and now I am paying the price for it with severe tinnitus in both ears so let that be a lesson to younger people (protect your hearing or else) LOL

Bone conduction headphones are not the total answer to a tinnitus problem but they do help some because the sound from them bypasses the ear canal and ear drum and goes straight to the cochlea

Yep. My hearing was damaged the exact same way. Shooting guns, going to concerts, etc without hearing protection.

It is a miserable condition to have. I only have it on my left side or left ear, but its a constant noise, that to me, sounds like someone beating on a high-hat symbol really fast. Never goes away, but it gets worse at certain times... Especially at night time when I'm trying to sleep, or anytime I'm in an otherwise quiet place. Extremely annoying. The only thing that seems to help a little is having some kind of background white noise that's similar in pitch.

  2. I've broke several of them in the same place, including ones from eBay and some that I made myself from PETG.

So, I started tinkering with the design and beefing up the area where they tend to break. The last one I printed is still going strong after a bunch of use, though I do agree with Steve that 3D printed parts just aren't ideal for stuff like this.

Anyway, my 3D printer is currently out of commission, but I'd be happy to share the stl file with anyone who has a printer and wants to try it.

Ferrous Bueller (Chris) over at the Freedom forum has several versions too. Mine is actually based on one of his. You might want to contact him to see if he has a better version that's holding up well.

Well this wasn't one of my better hunts there for sure, but this farm hasn't ever been detected. The owner is a family friend, he catered our wedding. It's funny, people still talk about that! Over 100 people, a band and free booze all day. 😀

It's an old part of the county, the highway used to run on the farm side of the house. There are spots where anything is possible, from colonial to Victorian. Lots of beer cans and steel too! 🤣

I really appreciate the time you took to put these settings together. It's the first time I've used a program on the Deus 2 that "just works". Thank you.

I'm getting curious about why this program is so accurate on iron 🤔 could we be discriminating some harmonic or response that eliminates the falsing?

Glad ya like it man.  👍

For whatever reason, a lot of iron targets seem to false around the 85-86 range. I think it’s probably because the notching just blocks out that TID range.

Looking forward to seeing what else you find there!

  4. I have the one from Detecting DooDads. It took a while to get shipped out, but once it arrived I was very happy with it. It eliminated two problems for me. 1) The OEM clip is a pain to get in place because the tip of the clamp always catches on the lip of the coil cover. The Detecting DooDads clamp just slips right on. 2) I use a 3D printed coil balancer which moves the lower shaft mounting point up to the center of the coil. The cable on the OEM clamp plugs in on the side, so with the balancer on there it was making contact with the lower shaft mount and difficult to get it attached. The cable on the DooDads mount plugs In on top of the charger, so that issue was fixed. Money well spent IMHO.

  5. Nice digs F350! One of the things I really like about the D2 audio is that after a while you start to get a feel for the sound of round targets. The way they ramp up and down as you pass the coil over them just has a certain sound to it. Of course, we still get fooled sometimes but the Deus 2's excellent descriptive audio can definitely help weed out some of the misshapen targets.

Sounds like an awesome site you're on there! I'd definitely lower those notches if it has colonial relics! Great hunt man!

  6. My ears were burning so I knew someone was talking about me.  Not really, the forum software gave me a notification.

Thanks for the kind words and the shout out guys.

Glad to hear the SS program is working well for you. Its just some notching and a few minor tweaks, but man it sure does make those coins jump out at ya! You can definitely customize the notched areas to your liking and use it to cover other target ranges. With the way the Fast program uses higher weighted frequencies, it should work fine for gold jewelry and other lower conductors as well. A lot of the sites I hunt just have so much modern trash that without some serious notching, it would drive me nuts!

I agree with CPT_GhostLight, definitely something special about how the D2 handles notching. I really like the Fast program, and pitch tones in general. The way the D2 is able to convey so much info through audio is outstanding. I'm really enjoying mine.

The original shaft can't be factory fixed, because Xp using this stand for their other detectors like Goldmaxx, Gmaxx etc.

This exact stand dimensions are used for holding control boxes.

In that case, maybe XP should give the Deus & ORX their own arm cuff with a proper stand. 🙂

It’s a pain in the backside to buy a detector and the first time you sit it down it falls over like a dead horse. I won’t go out the door with one until I get that problem fixed.

    Agree 100%.

This is a great review, and I agree with most of what you like and dislike except the backphones. 😀 I like them. Thanks for posting your impressions!

Thank you sir. I tried to get used to the backphones but they just never felt comfortable to me for some reason. Maybe I have an odd shaped melon. I recently ordered a set of those Quest headphones that accept the WS6 puck. Looking forward to trying them out.

Make you a stand like the one I made for my ORX and stop that falling over. It’s made out of hot water PVC and paint it black.

That looks very functional Chuck. I fixed mine with some 3D printed parts. They work well enough, but just seems to me that XP should've given us a good functional stand from the factory. I may be nitpicking a bit, but to me, having my detector stand up on its own while I dig is kind of important. lol

  9. I had the MI-6 when it first came out which I ended up selling. Recently got another one included when I purchased my Deus 2.  I paired it up and played with it for about 10 minutes last night, then remembered why I sold my first one. The main issue I had with it was that the on/off button isn't as easy to find unless you stop and actually look for it. With the Carrot, you can quickly feel to find the large flat button, no problem. Anyway, I'll probably be listing a basically brand new one for sale soon if you're interested.

    Welcome from East Texas.

I bet you have similar red dirt & mineralization as I have. Would be very interested to hear your take on hunting it & also how your new Deus II handles it compared to other detectors you have used.

Thanks JCR. Yessir, we have plenty of that mineralized red GA clay where its tough to pick up even shallow targets. I too am curious to see how the D2 stacks up against my Nox and original Deus in those spots. I'll be sure to post some results once I've put some hours on it.
