  1. Yes, I guess you are right Rick. I'll try option c) and see what happens!
  2. The nut and rubber plug come off, but the socket is held in from the inside I think. I'd have to unscrew the whole case to see what's in there. I'll leave that for another day. Couldn't see any details on the socket. It's annoying, especially since the supplied headphone lead is too short. As you said, for upwards of $3500, these niggly details should have been eliminated. I actually gave up on the headphones and was using the visual display as a guide on my first outing with the detector. Works pretty well. Didn't find any gold (was in the wrong place) but a few small lumps of iron, bits of foil and shavings from an old metal tin made the thing light up like the fourth of july! It really is very sensitive.
  3. No, I meant the part connected to the body. That big brass nut around the female socket looks like it might release it.
  4. I'm wondering if it might be possible to unscrew that female connector and rewire to a standard jack plug? In any case I think I'll unscrew it to see if there are any reference details to the plug on the casing or the cable hidden inside the body. Thanks Steve.
  5. Here are a couple of links to connectors I found. I'm not an electronics expert so I have no idea if they are the right ones. I think this connector, at the top of the page, has open wires at the other end (it's not clear): HR-10 Hirose male connector I'm not sure what is on the other end of this one: 16YT-6J socket and plug I'll keep looking and see what I can dig up.
  6. I found a few things online, but I've yet to determine if they are the right ones. Most seem to be made in China and it might only be possible to get them as a bulk order (unless I can convince them to send samples). I'm in Spain so there may be some suppliers in europe who have something suitable. The ideal would be a 6-pin plug to standard jack adaptor, but that might be tricky if the plug on the SDC is an unusual configuration. Failing that I think I saw some extension leads from China. See above. Thanks for your help.
  7. Can someone please tell me the correct term for the type of audio out socket (headphone socket) on the SDC 2300? Thanks!
  8. Great find! But why were you guys digging in the middle of the night? Is that your neighbours back garden?
  9. Thanks for your honesty and dedication, Steve. Can't ask for more than that.
