I guess I should have posted the coins with the Lobster trap pic. The top row of coins are normal "fresh drop" coins. Those below are the green and sandblasted coins that are normally in the 12 to 15+ inch range where the Lobster trap pieces are also located and have been moving in and out with the tide for years. I think part of the problem I have with the Lobster trap wire is that it is vinyl coated and virtually no rust. I am in Beach Mode 1 on the Equinox and running about as hot as it will run. I can avoid bobby pins, tent stakes, nails, bottle caps without any problem. It is these vinyl coated pieces that do not give an indication of iron or steel.

Here is a picture of what I hope to avoid digging. These are larger than the normal pieces that seem to sound so good, especially when really deep. Makes no difference which detector, TDI Pro, Dual Field, Equinox, 3030. Steve, Joe, Andre, Rick, Le Jag, how will the AQ react to these bits and pieces in the wild? I dig them as small as 1/4 inch in length, so there is not enough for an elongated double blip.

Hopefully all of the AQ Limited detectors will be sold to those who have at least some knowledge of PI detectors. I run a TDI Pro and a Dual Field along with a Deus, CTX 3030, and the Equinox 800. Different horses for different courses basically. I know what to expect out of each detector when I take it to the hunt site whether beach or dirt. That's the hurdle these VLF (only) don't seem to understand. At least by putting these detectors into the hands of experienced detectorist their should be a lot of really good feedback (whether good or bad) coming from them on their sites.
I think it has been explained that you need to basically FORGET anything you know about a VLF detector if you use a PI. That is pretty much the bottom line. Apples to Oranges folks. Listen to Steve, Rick, Andre, Le Jag, Willie and Joe!!!

Mark,
Life lessons seem to show up at the most inopportune moments but they are really finding us when we are most vulnerable and will remember them most!!!

Steve,
Do you remember back in the day when General Motors car commercials (Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, etc) would always mention, "Body by Fisher"? LOL Different Fisher but...just saying...
Maybe Alexandre Detector (body by Fisher) would not be a bad thing. We know that we have access to Alexandre and Le Jag on your forum. Once on the market, getting answers straight from the horses mouth instead of them getting bounced around from this department and that department and then just being a "canned" answer, might be a really good thing.
Just saying...

Steve,
Same here with my TDI Pro. Maybe the HIGH water line but even that is not safe on a So Cal beach. LOL

Let's not OVERTHINK this detector. I remember Rick pointing out that this is a very simple detector. Maybe not as simple as a Whites Dual Field but still simple. Where the OVERTHINK comes in is that since we don't have one in hand we are still trying to compare it to VLF detectors. Steve has pointed out that we can ONLY compare it to other PI detectors. Again, most are pretty simple with very few controls. Mode control on the Impluse is about as complicated as it gets. The charts are pretty simple to understand (unless I am over simplifying them), reject the differ size nails and you reject different denominations of Euros. Again, they are in France and can only compare Euros with the nails. It is also stated that the shape of the coins verses the shape of the nails will cause a double beep in the nail and not in the coin on depending on the mode that you are detecting in. It has been stated several times that Le Jag almost always prefers to hunt in All Metal where nothing should be rejected except for saltwater which is always rejected as it is a built in feature which again makes this a simple machine as it is one less thing for us to fiddle with. Once he acquires a target then he will change Mode to decide whether or not do dig the target.
Now if I am underthinking this detector please let me know. I read posts and think, "Is it me not understanding or is it others making it more complicated?".
Just my two cents,
Joe

Le. Jag,
Can you make a video of a real time beach hunt? One where you are detecting on a beach just like anyone else and film a real live gold ring dig? I know everyone loves to see piles of gold rings that you have already dug, but a real live dig on the beach would probably convince more detectorist that the Impulse AQ is much better than any other beach detector on the market as they would see it like they were detecting it themselves.
Thanks,
Joe

Rick,
Your writeup was just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for taking the time to tell how the controls work in sync with the others!

Rick,
In a past post you mentioned coils, as in a primary and an optional coil. Do you know yet about the optional coil(s) size? I am assuming that the primary is a 12 inch. Fisher does seem to love a 5 inch hockey puck as we have seen for past 30 years on various models. They wouldn't go that small would they?
Asking for a friend,
Joe
So What Are Your Plans For The Impulse AQ Limited?

My plans are to hit this beach if I get it before it gets sanded back in. Only a couple of these green (and some undersized) coins in the picture below, actually hit my Equinox 800 (15 inch coil) as coins. Almost all hit as iron, foil or just a threshold blip. Most were in the 12 to 15 inch range (best guess with wet sand caving in on itself) in sand with a lot of black sand mixed in. There has to be gold in the next layer down under these. Anyway, that is where my first date will be when Miss Impulse comes knocking at my door.
