  1. Seriously though,

ย  ย A detector with the ability to swing fast, and still capture targets, is one of my main requirements for beach hunting! Low and slow is fine, once you get to where the targets begin to group, but you have to locate those areas first! And that generally requires a fair amount of walking, as some of the best spots are not close to parking areas!! Reading the constantly changing conditions is part of that! The Nox, and a several others do that quite nicely! And I'm sure the "Core" will too!

ย  ย Swing speed is not the main problem i see of other's detecting! It's the massive "Golf" swing that is a target killer!! Having the coil at swing apex, twelve inches or more, off the deck, is a big no-no! But I see it all the time, and it just means more possible targets for me!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  2. ย  ย I'd definitely be onboard for a PI like that too!! And l have reached near critical mass on detectors, so.... ๐Ÿ‘ As for the turkey problem, that's unfortunate!๐Ÿ˜”ย  But you can always grow your own! Just don't get too attached, come "chopping" time!!

    ย  ย Besides, KFC is a universally approved substitute!!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I just don't need anymore detectors after the Manticore, I'm just happy with my current detectors!

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ Forgive me Simon, if I don't believe this statement! But thanks for a good laugh! Does the quote" When hell freezes over" need to be applied here?? Time will tell!!

    Love ya man! Happy Thanksgiving!!๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

This was already an issue with the Equinox . I dont understand why ML repeates the same error with the Mcore ... This knowing that they already have the mold for a 10X8 , currently used for the Vanquish .ย  Incomprehensible ....

ย  ย  Definitely agree! One of several things I find irksome about the machines they produce, is listening to what customers want! While I realize their dedicated gold detectors are aimed at a specific audience, they appear to be resistant to change on their more general detector users!! Hopefully they get a clue, sooner than they did with the Equinox, and pay closer attention! Especially with others nipping at their heals at this point; and for less of an investment!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  5. ย  ย Been a shaft adapter on Ebay for awhile!ย Still a bit awkward though, with the handle protruding off the rear, but usable i suppose! The coil being fixed, and unable to pivot, precludes much else! Now, if the shaft were in between the coil, and the handle, it may be more functional! But the shaft mount would have to contain a pivot and a socket at the coil end, and a socket at the handle end! That would be alot of engineering, to turn it into something it was never intended to be! An adapter for the screw-on-end cap, may be another option! Either might be a challenging DIY project for some off-season fun!!ย ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  6. ย  ย As always, I'll let you "early adopters" bring any shiny new machines, back to earth, with real usage! And work out the bugs!! Rare that the hype measures up to reality-based usage!! But somebody's gotta start the party!!๐ŸŽ‰ Good luck to you early birds!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  7. Welcome to the forum John,

ย  ย You've got some great areas to explore, and have explored previously! I visited San Fran about 10 years ago with my family, and wish I was back detecting then, to hit Golden Gate Park, and some other nearby areas!ย

ย  ย Hope you jump right back into the thick of it, as we can always use another detecting fanatic in the fold!ย

    Good luck, and be safe!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  8. Great job Compass, that's some banner finds, and conditions!๐Ÿ‘

ย  Hoping to have a little of your luck this week, as we have a late season, big surf storm headed our way! (minus any major house damage!๐Ÿ˜ฌ) ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  9. ย  It's been mentioned a few times here, already briefly! But probably the least expensive initial route would be a good probe, a few packs of cheap home improvement store sprinkler flags, and gridding, with alot of patience! You can also lay out string lines, to be more precise! Think in terms of an archeological site layout!

ย  ย That would at least, narrow your areas to "detect", to only the spots that your probe struck an object, at yourย estimated depthย range! And each of those would have a flag! You could also use inexpensive florescent marking paint, to do the same grid! It's not permanent, and has no metal wire to remove, or interfere with a detector!

ย  ย One other thing I just thought of, that would help to be less destructive, and invasive to the property! Would be once you have your probing done, and locations flagged; and if out of range of a standard detector (most likely)! Is to use a small diameter auger, or post hole digger, to get to depth, and lower a metal detecting probe/locator to the approximate target depth, to determine if it's a metal target, rock, root, etc... This would save alot of soil removal work, and speed up you "flagged" location checks! But 811, and/or utility location knowledge is a must, for safety first!ย

ย  ย Good luck, and let us know if, and how you get it resolved!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  10. ย  ย That was a phenomenal๐Ÿคฏ hunt MN!! Especially considering the start! You were very lucky not getting hurt, or breaking your equipment!๐Ÿ€

ย  ย I rarely hunt in the dark, so I haven't fallen off any erosion cliffs! But in a few places on the Treasure Coast, they are high enough for that to easily happen; day or night! Not to mention theย very realย threatย of a collapse, that can quickly kill you, hunting next to them! It happened to someone here recently that was taking sunrise pictures! He was later found suffocated, with only his legs sticking out!!๐Ÿ˜”

ย  ย  Your trash to finds ratio was also excellent! Hope next time it produces like that, there is more gold in the mix!

    Keep up the good work!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  11. Highland,

ย  ย Great post, and welcome to the forum BTW!

ย  ย Had to both laugh, and be proud, of all the awsome responses you received to your post! Just goes to show you that you are among great people here, who love to share their knowledge with others! There are only a few "good" forums around, that you will find this kind of great information, without all the infighting BS, and pettiness!!

ย  ย Only "bone" i have to pick with what you said, was one detector for 8-10 years!!๐Ÿคฃ I think we all started out that way, and you may be able to pull it off, but if you stick with this hobby, I seriously doubt you will have bought just "one" detector in that time span! Like trying to eat just "one" potato chip!๐Ÿ˜‚

ย  ย I'd have to say, by your rapid decision, you already had a good idea of the detector you felt was "just right" for you, and got quick, and thorough enough confirmation to pull the trigger in rapid fashion!! Congratulations, and good luck๐Ÿ€ with the Deus 2 , and the hobby! Hope you find a bunch! It's great fun!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

ย  ย โ˜†BTW, if you haven't heard it already, check your local "Detecting Laws", and try to be low profile, and fill all your holes neatly! Look up "Detecting Edicate" if you are unfamiliar!!๐Ÿ€

  12. ย  ย Pricing on the basic Legend is great right now! But yeah, the tipping point for me would be coil selection!! I have a box full of different machine coils that have never been used, or go unused, after the preferred size is made available by whomever steps up to the plate!! (Maybe I should sell some!๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ)!

Delik, keep at it!! Many of us are waiting to jump in, or being as patient as possible, for some different coil sizes!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
