  1. Great finds Chase,

I'm hoping to do some detecting along the "Thigpen Trail" in Georgia next month! As well as hunting, and detecting on family property!  I already have found dozens of arrowheads, and worked flint there over the years! But this year I'm allowing more time to detect! Also have some old home sites to locate!

Who knows, the deer may be safe this year if i locate some good spots!🦌💰

  2. Hey Steve,

Is the heat the PI produces the main issue with a waterproof case? If so, i understand what your saying! Like sealing the vents on a computer eventually burns it up! But haven't there been PI's made for beach hunting that were waterproof? Or do they depend on being underwater to cool the unit? And i guess where there's heat, there's a heat sink that adds weight, and takes up valuable space!

  3. The cost to make a light waterproof case is negligible at this point! May as well just make it submersible to ten feet like the Simplex, Equinox, or AT series! It should also break down or collapse small enough to fit into a backpack! You all covered the battery options well enough!     ( both would be nice)!

Here's my argument on waterproofness: Say you hike in somewhere you are unfamiliar with to do dry detecting, but end up near a stream or wash and see some promising wet locations! You only have the one detector; dry only except for coil! Do you risk a dunk with this machine if you slip, or have the piece of mind of a waterproof unit! Seems like an easy choice to me!

Now obviously salt water is a different animal, and requires different software that may not be compatable in a PI detector! I'm only talking inshore locations! But it would be nice to have the "get wet" ability!

  4. Thanks all for the input; love the noodle cushion idea! I will post after i use for awhile!

I'm left handed, and i have some old injuries to tendons and ligaments in my left arm! So i do get some pain after gripplng the handle of a detector for more than an hour or two! I thought this may help by allowing me to loosen my grip a little and still swing the detector! I've tried a strap before, but its not so much a weight issue, as it is a grip issue! It's not any manufacturer flaw or defect in how the grips are made; its just me!

I've tried to detect right handed, but i look like I'm on drugs, swinging a detector! 🤣  It's the same trying to throw a ball right handed! It goes about 10 feet! LOL

PS: Simon is still a young lad,  compared to most of us! And he's too LUCKY to have aches and pains!! Constantly digging up coins means less time swinging the detector!🤣🤣 Luckyphrunt!!

  5.    Have been looking at this on Ebay and decided to order one today to try out! We will see how it functions!

I currently don't have a proper shop, or else i would probably make one myself, out of an old nylon cutting board! If it works out, i may make a few for my other detectors! But for now, I'll just purchase!👍

Autistic daughter actually, and thanks. The reason the equinox sales are through the roof is exactly because it convinced people like me to buy. I wanted a ctx for years, but not THAT much. Bring out a detector that people actually prefer and use when they own both at 40% of the price and it gets people off the fence, both for the value and the obtainablility.

My daughter randomly told me a couple days ago we needed to go out in the desert and dig gold and have adventures. No idea where it came from. So that's definitely going to happen! The main reason I dont get out of town more is watching her, so she's going to get all the adventure she will tolerate. She really likes going places so this might work out.

    Amen Lacky,

A little late on this post, but just joined in October!

I have a special needs teenage son and agree with your statements about cost! The Nox 800 was a high dollar item for me! Unless i strike it rich with the lottery, or on the Treasure Coast detecting; ( highly unlikely on both) which is 100 miles away, and not a regular drive for me! Than i will probably never spend that much again! Not only am i retired, but have a daughter in an arts college $$$! And i will have a life long dependent ( my son) living with me and my wife for life! 💑 👩‍🎓🤷‍♂️

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't change a thing if i could! (Except the lottery winning, and treasure finding part) I'm just happy i have some time to detect, and would love my son to join in at some point if he's willing and interested! (Very little so far; Patience is not his virtue)LOL🤯

  7. Maybe we could also talk Jeff Herke into using anodized aluminum in his armrests, in colors other than  black!🌈🌈 lol

And i don't think spray paint on the coil is out of the question! Just don't us a metallic!!

Love that 3D cuff! Nicest one I've seen made!!

  8. I've heard that salt mines are used to store stuff by the government, but i did not know that the public could store stuff too! Pretty interesting! I'm guessing that they no longer work the mine? Or has it just reached the max that they could mine without compromising the structure?

The only thing that was mined here was shell rock, and beach sand! But no storage here due to sea level!

  9. Welcome Cristian,

Steve, and the rest will set you straight on the proper detector! There's hundreds of years of experience on here!

Don't worry about the English! It's a process; like detecting!!!

    Good luck with the hunting!

  10. Welcome to the forum,

I'm pretty new here myself! Everyone here has been nice and willing to share there expertise freely!

Welcome to Florida; don't forget the protective clothing, lotion, and drink alot of water and Gatorade! (Fair warning: Beer dehydrates)  It's been summer all year, and hotter than hell!

Sorry to hear about the fire! They were my mortal enemy before i retired! Now it's just the sun! Good luck, and post us your adventures and finds! 🤟🏖
