  1. 2008 I remember a Australian beach hunter posted on Friendly MDF... said he could live off of his finds, I think he even made a video on it. Sure enough he posted for several months he was paying his bills and doing ok, all because of the 1 n 2 dollar coins. Sounds like it would be fairly hard to do now.

I remember OC Md in the early years (07/08) when I took on the hobby you could dig 200 plus coins in a day, may had been $30 total but you felt it would cover gas and food. Now days with the coin meters gone and everyone has to pay with Credit Cards or some other.... your lucky to get 40 coins in a day ($7). And the gold has slowed also, i-phones, tattoos, places pushing new age metals combined with the price of gold.. I've not been there since 2019. I have a few friends that live and hunt there, they are lucky to dig 5 pieces of gold a year.. and they hunt a lot.

For me, when I do hunt..  I only hunt places that hold older targets .. places that closed in the mid to late 60's. Coins are a good sign I am in the right spot, and it's time to slow down and dig all signals. Only issue ... it may take me a few months to find a hot area.

I'm hoping the Algoforce equals or outperforms the AQ for wet sand beach hunting. I don't need it to be waterproof. Waterproofing is unnecessary and just raises the price.

Out performs, water proof and dependable ..I don't mind paying for. So far my AQ's have held up, be nice to have a machine equal or better, water proof (submersible for hours) and 100% dependable.

When I’m able to get a E1500, I’m going to try to see about making mine water proof for detecting the rivers here. Luckily it’s only got a pod and battery pack to worry about and not a large control box like the other Pulse Induction detectors out there.

Maybe Doc can brainstorm a cover for it that seals water out.

At one time they had a d1 water proofing kit, wonder how close the sizes are on the control pad? That would be for the control unit and as far as the battery pack you could make one similar to the ones I made for the AQ..

another on the battery, I wonder what the voltage of the e1500 is? If its 12v you could run a Excalibur battery pack with a few changes to the hookup. Or you could build a battery pack to match the voltage and use the excalibur bat Pod..

  4. As few of the AQ's that are out there and the fact the e1500 is not water proof your not going to see that meeting happen until a water proof design is sold. What most don't realize is the e1500 company would need to make a water proof battery also to go with a water proof detector. It could be worked into the design with drop in 18650's or even better the 21700's. Be interesting to see if they go down that road. A 10 inch coil to go with the e1500 would be nice also, beach hunters do not have a collection of PI coils setting around.

in one of your photo's you show what appears to be a small spot welder.  Is it possible to provide details of the device and possible sources?  Thanks in advance.

Yes, put a picture up for you. I paid 200 for it in 2020. Makes putting battery packs together easy than soldering.

Interesting, now they have a new type which I believe is excellent for the hobbyist, great price and does the same thing as mine.

Asked by a friend to make a battery pack for his new TDI Pro. 4 cell 16.8 volt, most important thing is to buy brand name batteries from a well know source. I like Samsung, Panasonic, Molice, Epoch, Sony, Nitecore.. And most of the time I purchase from the 18650 battery store. One thing as your assembling the battery pack, keep a bucket of water and a fire extinguisher near by, Li-ion batteries can be very dangerous and can short out fast causing injuries and fire.

I know TDI Pro's are becoming rare but for those that still have them I'm sure many need new batteries so I figured sharing this information may help.

  8. Asked by a friend to make him a couple batteries for his, New to him TDI Pro, seems fairly easy so I order the parts. I did not feel comfortable about making him a 5 cell 18/21 volt Li-ion so we agreed on the 16.8. 4 cell..  For now... WIll post pictures.

Parts came in today.. make this a thursday project.

Something that may help with the outside beach noises, get some Aircraft Gel, ear pads for your head phones.... I'm sure they would fall under hearing aids? 😃

I rarely worry about tones since I hunt in All metal 99% of the time. I'm just worried about hearing the faints which may fall under soft.

  10. How are the tides there? I was wondering if your seeing any indication the water levels are changing? Here, this year, and not that Im hunting any but I still watch and they seem to not be going as low as many times as they have in the past.  We had two neg tides in Jan, past years we would get about one good one a week.

I'm in between projects and getting the fever watching your post!

And Great hunt on the Silver!

Thanks, it might work (hope it does) but the one on my 8” coil measured 26x66, which is a UTGX6JC10E19P3, which seems not available anywhere. Yeah Carolina should know - he said he used them for other detectors too.

Also pin contacts are separate for UTS.  Next challenge.

2014 I used the Souriau on the excalibur while searching for the perfect coil connector. I used it for about 1 year and stopped for I seen with lots of use the knobs that lock and hold the male in place were wearing down. During that time I told Carolina about them and he started using them. I finally traded out the Souriau for the 3m Stainless steel which showed no wear after several years of use. I was surprised to see them used on the AQ and rarely do I take them off, knowing they will wear out in time.

Sourniau .... first pic on a excalibur endcap after one year use, major wear

3m ...............second picture on excalibur after 5 years
