Steve I have only put up this link as a reference, I have no doubt somewhere over where you are you can get the same stuf. From a dollars and cents point of view you cant beat this stuff.  That`s why I originally started useing it.  With my 5000 I was a severe scrubber and was wearing out a skid plate every couple of weeks.  The sheet in this link, for 60 bucks you would get years and years of skid plates

hey John.   Mate even though I didn`t do it this way, there is no reason you couldn`t glue the polycarbonate sheet onto the bottom of the skid plate.  Then you could still remove the skid plate to clean under the coil.   I attached mine directly to the coil and this plate has been on my 14" for well over 12 months and untill the 19" came out this coil was being used almost daily.   Cheers Dave

Steve I agree with what you have said here.  As good a detector as the 2300 is, I still find gold every time I use it, it is a ergonomic disaster.  I felt that the first day I used it and the last day I used it.  My biggest complaint with the 23 is the rear pivot coil.   I know it`s cleverly designed and can be folded up and carried in a suit case, but I`ve never felt the urge to do that.

Hey Norvic. I was going to answer this one till I saw whitebutler doesn`t want a glue on, and that`s fair enough, he likes to keep his gear clean, but I do like having the long life skid plates.

Yeh madtuna, I got mine on day one and I have found gold with it every day I have used it, except I think 3 times, and for about the first 6 months just about everywhere I went I was the first person to go there with a 2300 and I never understood the flogging it got.

Hi all. I got this button a few months ago at a PMAV club outing at Maryborough in central Victoria.  Buttons don`t do a great deal for me but I was pretty impressed when I discovered it was a Civil War era button that came over here from the United states.  On the back it says Treble Stand and under that Extra Rich.   
It was really deep but someone had already dug half way down to it and then walked away.  Once I recovered it I filled in their hole.   The third photo is what it used to look like.

Hey Jen.  Using the amp to control the threshold also means you are running a very low target volume.  That`s why a couple of posts back Enio said he wished my settings were a bit louder.    Even though the detector runs very quiet with these settings, Enio the other day still managed to get 14 for 0.8 grams. Plus with these settings I think you get better depth on the very faint ones

Mate that is exactly the reason I don`t like goldEn`s settings.
I`m not saying anything out of school here because goldEn and I are mates and I`m always telling him I don`t like his settings.
Mate I run a cheap little amp on my 23 that you can get on ebay for less than 20 bucks and the reason I love this amp is you can get the threshold on the 23 to run as smooth as silk.   My settings is gain on 4 or 5 and I up the audio to the 3rd light, and then the trick is you set the threshold by adjusting the volume on the amp.  Doing this you get no chirping in the threshold what so ever.  The trade off of this is targets don`t come through real loud but you still hear the .05`s no worries.  I have demonstrated to my lovely other half that she is missing targets by running only the 1st light but she`s quite happy to have a quiet detector, but me, I`ve gotta have that threshold.
goldEn used my settings last weekend but he didn`t tell me what he thought of them.  Maybe he didn`t say anything because he was being polite

I`m not really hijacking this thread because goldEn found this piece about 6 months ago and I took this photo of it before it was dropped into acid. From memory he got it with the 2300.    We took it out of the acid last week but it still had a little bit of the brown rock on it, so it went back into fresh acid.  I think goldEn took a photo of it last week but I am not 100% sure

yeh Bob, I found the same thing with the 2300.   If you move the coil super slow the 0.04`s come in really clear.

Quite true G.B.
After today we are back into the 30`s for the rest of the week so I`m heading out today to a little spot at Moliagul. Some times I get gold there, sometimes I don`t, but if I go there and wave my detector around like a Wippy Snipper I never get anything.    If you are on a spot that you know there is gold there, low and really slow is the go.
Thanks again for your help a couple of months ago.
And for people that live on the eastern side of the Pacific Ocean, don`t even try to pronounce Moliagul. You`ll probably get it wrong

I notice the coil lead attaches to the back of detector display.  I`ve still got 4 different size coils from the Ground Tracker, Eureka Ace Duel days, including a 12x6.   I wonder if they might work on this detector.

With the money Minelab throw at R & D I`m thinking this detector could be a real winner.  One of my mates has ordered one, delivery date unknown, price unknown and hopefully I`ll get a chance to have a play with it a day or so after it comes out.
