Do you have any more of these gems you wouldn't mind sharing?

I used to try to write about dredging and prospecting but never felt I could do it the justice it deserved. There is so much that happens that is beyond being able to express well.

I do have three other gold-related short bits, but don't want to hijack the thread (any more than I have). Maybe if you want I'll start a thread for people who write about what we do and see if anyone else has writing they want to share - that would be fun. Let's see if anyone is interested.

And thank you for the comment...

    but those Winds 😂

Lucky…since you've hunted the Pinto's…and you mentioned the wind - which reminds me of a quote from another prospector who has passed on, 29Prospector, who said "it's not the heat that get's you out here, it's the wind." Oh yeah.

I hope folks don't mind but I have a story partly about the wind in the Pinto's which I"m going to attach. You guys are the only people who understand this kind of writing, so again, hope it's alright.

  3. I don't know if they have the equivalent in ATV tires (maybe if I read Jasong's post correctly) but I have

run-flat tires on my 4x4 and have had a few occasions where I've gotten nails/bolts/ etc. punctures and

finished my trip at 75mph on the freeway with absolutely no indication of a problem. This is my third

set of them and I wouldn't have anything else. They are great off-road as well…the sidewalls are strong

and they give me confidence that even with a puncture out in the boonies, I'm good to go.

.and keep doing the things that make you happy. Damn you’re not that old

    Yeah…I was gonna say…

Steve you know what you have achieved and what you want to do now. Can't think of a thing wrong with any of that. Have fun and dive into all the things that fascinate you. I will bet there will be some gold detecting down the line when the urge strikes you - and if it doesn't, that's fine too.

The one thing I do hope you get constant pleasure and satisfaction from is this forum. It was your no b.s. approach to forum behavior that set the bar for all of us and look how well this forum almost polices itself. We've all come to learn that this is the way to make discussions worthwhile. That was you who did that.

    Good health to you.

  5. I have been using the 12" NF coil on my 7000 for over two years. I have found ridiculously small gold with it and at depth as well. The weight shift alone makes it worthy, but it's performance makes it a must (in my opinion).

I am sure X-coils are good too but the expense and the wiring changes make uninteresting to me.

Also, I can't help but smile at all the discussion of tenths or hundredths of a gram flakes of gold. Not sure it really matters much whether the scale measures one or two decimal's, but again, just an opinion. I do know that the gents I learned detecting and dredging from wouldn't even bother to mention finding flakes that small much less make it the subject of endless discussions. Not being dismissive, just pointing out that times have changed.
