Out of the 12 or so owners I know of the AQ Limited, only 4 are really happy with it. (Mike, Carolina, TVR and me) I've come to the conclusion it takes a special breed to understand what the machine can do, how to use it and most important.. where to use it... Mike and I use it as a PI, Carolina and TVR use both sides of it, Disc/PI.

Yep, I love mine and wouldn't part with it.

Nice finds, the ring is awesome and love the buffalo. Surprising good shape, is this saltwater?

Brackish water. Nickels hold up pretty well, but silver and copper are pretty ate up. The buffalo looks like it wasn't in circulation long since the date (1937) was raised.

Nice hunt! Wonder if there is any relation to signal emitters in the area and wet salt conductivity paths? ... understand I'm reaching with that. In any case that seems a strange phenomena. Did you try turning sensitivity down?

Power lines in the area do give me some EMI problems, but that's the only thing in the area. No, I didn't change the sensitivity stayed out in deeper water for the rest of the hunt.

Mike you are shining with that AQ!! Got to love a machine that can come into a barren beach and find gold, much less targets. WTG!

Thank Joe. The AQ is a beast. I'm hoping it will bring those heavily hunted areas back to life. The more I use it the better I like it.

Beautiful ring Mike. Looks like an older design too. Odd about the grip. Wonder how that plays into reports of bad EMI. Maybe a solvable issue.

Thank's, it's nice and quiet when submerged. Hunting this place with the Excal as soon as the coil was out of the water it would go nuts.

  3. Got out this afternoon for a few hours. Hunted one of the hardest to hunt beaches in my area. Not many targets today, but good for this beach. Started off shallow and picked up a  couple of nickels then went deep. When I can back in shallow the detector was erratic. I noticed if I released my hand off of the grip and grab it again it would sound off. I could release my grip and just tap the foam with my finger and it would sound off each time. Looks like once the grip gets wet you can't hunt shallow. I did pick up a deep small Gold ladies ring that the AQ hit hard on it.

Great hunt! Excellent ring and silver and Buffalo's and not much junk. If after a storm that sand moves even a little, I can't wait to see what you get there.

Thanks, this area has very little sand movement. Everything gets piled into that area, but you never know.

Let everyone know, I learned a lot from Mike over the last 5 years when we had a chance to get out together. Excellent beach reader and hunter.

Joe's wealth of information. Always tinkering to get improvements out of his equipment, and yes it does make a difference. I think we taught each other a lot over the years and we're still learning.

Nice looking gold for sure. Glad it didn’t escape from you and the AQ!

Thank you. I wish I got the AQ the past winter. That's prime time for hunting here.

Mike that is a beauty! I remember several years ago you were telling me that right side could possibly hold deep gold, You sure were correct! No one else can find gold at that spot, Except the AQ and Mikes Skills!! Got to love the AQ!

😂Thanks Joe. The AQ sure has it's place in these areas. Still need to spend more time in tone mode, but I can see this machine paying for itself in no time.

  6. Didn't get out this past week since I was under the weather.

Started out with the detector being really unstable. Water got into the coil connector. Blew the water out of the connector and tightened the back-shell and everything was good to go. I also have noticed when I'm in shallow water she's a little noisy and a lot of falsing (water way below the connector). She's pretty stable when completely covered. I do run my machine hot in all metal.

One old beach I hunt always has sand piled in to the one side. No sand movement in this area other than more accumulation. For years I said there has to be targets just out of detection range. Well not for the AQ. I did find a few targets in this area. I had to work slow since these targets were pretty close to the depth limit and I was running hot. A few pieces of crusty Silver and a nice 10K ring dated 1946.

Your ears are probably better than mine; they are still not so apparent to me. What ATS and disc settings?

Today I dug a quarter in wet sand where the hole did not collapse. Good round sound and not faint at all in all metal. Switch to tone and it went to a smooth even mid-tone with little if any pitch modulation, not the low growl the stainless scoop gives. I was at presets. Quarter was down about 18 inches or so, back of the scoop about 5 inches below sand surface level. Got a thin ring yesterday that is leaching copper but shows a lot of silver color. I have no idea what it is made of yet. Will try to clean it up when I get home after the weekend. It was in that same 18 inch range and was a good solid signal, high tone in both all metal and tones. I don't think I would have hit either with any of the other detectors I have, and these were solid signals; not whispers.

Hoping there is gasoline someplace this coming weekend for the trip home!

I was running pretty hot. I had the ATS 5 1/2 disc in 6, Delay 8, and sensitivity maxed out. Water was pretty calm, but the AQ had a little falsing that I could deal with. If I swept the coil fast I got a high tone. When I slowed it down the leading and lagging edge of the was a little rough sounding (really quick low tone). My hearing is pretty bad, I wear hearing aids. I did make a some headsets that are really loud out of old David Clark aviation headphones. Basically gutted them and added piezos.

The AQ does hit pretty hard on those deep targets.

Good Luck getting fuel Have a safe trip.

  8. Hunted a few hours with a good friend today. Half of the hunt was in All Metal and the other half in Tones Mode.  I dug everything today trying to learn the machine. Those Corona caps became predictable in Tones Mode. All Metal seems to run a bit more stable and punches really deep. I originally thought the piece of a bracelet I recovered was junk until the 10K stamp was pointed out. No sign of the rest of it in the area, but Ill take it.

Those are some nice looking rings. Good to hear the AQ hit on those thin bands deep. Sounds like a great place to have some fun.

Thanks, I love that old Gold. The AQ does great on those thin bands. The places that I hunt have been hit really hard for years, you really have to work for them. So far the AQ giving me an edge on a few of them that aren't to littered with trash.

WTG Mike!! Love the Red Stone Gold!! Both oldies too and been down for a good many years. I knew you and the AQ would hit it off with a Bang !!  I see a lot more gold coming out of those tough spots you have up there.

    Happy Birthday also..

Thanks Joe. Can't wait to do some more mining with you. First target I dug with the AQ was a old Silver spoon ring. I was on my tippy toes digging that one. Nice job on that battery, looks close to the original in shape. Thanks for the birthday wishes I turn 29 Sunday.

  11. Just received my AQ last week. First two hunts at a worked out beach scored some really deep silver and some old coins.  Most hunters can't find a target at this beach, just ask OBN everybody hates this place. Then I tried another heavily hunted beach today for the third hunt. Scored two 14K rings and a crusty 10K pendant. I thought the pendant was a mini sinker at first. Today's Gold was very deep and the AQ hit solid on them. I'd still be there if the battery didn't die.  I don't believe my Excal would have found them today.

    I love my AQ
