All i can say is one can only dream such a detector will one day be made but i won't hold my breath, i will just have to use what i have now and be well schooled in how my detectors work for me now.

It does not look like coil tape will work you would have to use to much of it witch would be a pain to get it off if you did.

Old Spanish treasure symbol, cool never done a season of 300 oz but have done 1 oz days up in the little rocky mountains using a Keene ultra mini 4 inch. dredge. works super on the fine gold up in that area it is what pays for my metal detecting trips in the winter.
-
Yea i remember those days.
-
hip stick is a good choice.

Featherdishead, I learned to dredge late in life in California and just loved it, the work was hard but the rewards were even better, nothing like hanging onto a 6 inch hose underwater and seeing the gold go up to the box, now if they ever lift the ban it will be good to get back down also it will be interesting to see what an out of state permit will now cost, now i do some dredging up in Montana and the Wyoming black hills so i can still get the fix but it is mostly long arming don,t get to go fully underwater and on air very often as the creeks i work are not that deep.
-
I not only do the same thing but also use the same setup at the back end of my dredge i find it easier then a shovel.

Steve, like you say an 8x11 would be good but i would like to see a 7x14 elip or even a 9x14 elip.
