Better day today. Old patch that has been hammered and someone salted it with lead shot!!
The EMI which I thought would be an issue actually was fine so managed to stay with the mono.
Found my first 6000 bit...all 0.14g of it ha ha
It was actually the most fun I have had detecting in ages. This thing is a pleasure to use.
The small bit gave a loud signal...tested it in normal and difficult, no difference really at all.
Had a play with threshold off, not really a fan, but it still picked up a lead shot in the 10 minutes I tried it.

First use. I love it. So easy to swing. Loving that I can use it without a harness.

No gold today, but was more about experimenting.

It likes hot rocks, even in difficult. Not unexpected really. I know these little suckers well and the 7000 likes them too 😉

It seems very sensitive to changes in EMI, but the noise cancel works remarkably well.

Great machine. My new best friend 🙂

Having read some of the patents that I think refer to GeoSense, would I be correct in assuming that the DD is actually a very important tool for the 6000? Rather than doing what some people (who havent even used it!!) are saying "Imagine having to go back to DD's....just throw it away and get the 17 mono"?

I think that there is some magic happening under the hood that means the 6000 is perhaps more susceptible to EMI than say a 5000, so the DD becomes very much needed at times.

From my perspective, when I first started detecting only 5 years ago, I think I pretty much read every word you ever wrote 🙂

This quote been my all time favourite: "There’s no point detecting in ground that is too deep for the detector so I like to keep bedrock in sight at all times"......Advice that has served me well over the last 5 years!!

I know people out my way who kill it on gold every season with old GP extreme's. I know people out here who find bucket loads with their 45's. I also know people who find an ounce or 2 every couple of months with their 7000's and 2300's, mainly in many small bits.

The whole thing for me personally boils down to if physically I can be bothered going out for a few hours. With the 7000, which I still love, I umm and argh most weekends simply due to the pain I know I am going to end up in after 3 hours. The 6000 will change that for me....Patch hunting with a decent chance of finding any sized gold, with much less agony!

We did some work with machinery on one of our leases last August and I swung the 7000 for 5 days straight. It almost ended up wrapped around the nearest tree. Took 6 months before I could move my shoulders normally again 😞

For me, its a hobby. I dont want a hobby to kill me. Thats not fun at all.

Well I have a 6000 in my hot little hands :)...technically its back in the box..

Wont get a chance to get out until next weekend but very excited!

So light, oh so light!!

Did you experiment with your booster at all or wasnt one needed?

I use your B&Z boosters with my 7000 and love them.....find I get better control of the audio by using the booster. I actually run the 7000 directly to the booster via cable 🙂

I never detect with headphones due to fear of wild dogs.....would rather hear them before the pounce on my back 😉

I will probably end up trying the 6000 via 1/8 to 1/4 inch cable directly to the booster, then dual speakers :)....unless the speaker is that good that I dont need a booster.

Thanks JP! This statement is the key for me anyway! I have buggered shoulders and whilst I love my 7000, I cannot swing it for more than 2-4 hours. Even when doing that short period, I literally am in agony for the next couple of days.

Makes sense to me that if I can swing the 6000 for 6-8 hours, then the extra hours increases the chance of gold. Simply swinging for longer equals more chance of success. My 7000 wont find much gold if its sitting in the cupboard as I am in to much pain to use it There have been plenty of days when I have just not gone detecting as I know whats going to happen after. Hopefully with the lightness of the 6000 I get more time on the ground and much less pain!!
